I miss macromedia so much!

Some humans are just too bloody fussy: I actually like the logo and prefer the GIMP UI to those of Photoshop, Krita, Affinity Photo, etc., just like I prefer the UI of Microsoft PowerPoint. So there!

Looking forward to these changes! I don't use GIMP for any serious image manipulation, just occasional pixel measuring and meme composition, but especially (kinda basic) features like multi-layer select will probably benefit everyone! Obviously there's still a long way to go, but as more tech debt is cleared and the foundation is improved, I hope GIMP will really take off!

They should start with the simplest thing. Change the logo. This ugly dog ​​is not fit for use in serious software.

Out of the Crunch-Bang clones out there, Archcraft is the most usable and I’m a Debian user! I run it from a thumb drive and it runs great. Now if I could only wrap my head around Arches repository thing they have going on.

I have tested Debian Sid out in live CD and it is stable. I am running Debian Trixie on another laptop which I upgraded from Bookworm. When you upgrade to Trixie you still have repositories from Debian Bookworm as well as the ones from Trixie. I think that's for backward compatibility. I have to say that Debian Trixie works fine for me. There are no problems at all and I do get regular updates as well as more choice of software.

I am a brand new Linux user. I've been using Debian 12 on my HP Probook 450 G6 for about two weeks. When Cosmic goes live, I may have to give Pop!_Os a try. It looks very promising.

Both Deepin and the UKUI Desktop come out of China so I wouldn't use them, because they may contain spyware. There are plenty of other good desktops so no need to use this one.

How did you manage to fix the drivers for the WiFi? I have a 10 years old Mac and the only distro that allows the WiFi drivers out of the box is Chrome OS flex. Thanks

Arch done right is Arch. I used Manjaro for 3.5 years and the conflict between its curated packages in PAMAC and the AUR saw my system become unstable. Yes, you should not use the AUR too much, even in Arch but well, I didn't and still had issues. For me, Manjaro is fine on a simple install where the majority of what is pre-installed or available from PAMAC, is all you are likely to use. Indeed, I do have it (XFCE) on an old 2012 "weekend getaway" laptop. That said, that's the extent of its presence in my IT ego system.

Best distro ever for me! I use Garuda on my 3 computers since the last year, from differents constructors, CPUs and GPUs. Works like a charm, and you can always came back easily to olds snapshots. And dudes, I've tested more than 10 distros before. I'm DevSecOps and gamer when I have time. You can add all the Blackarch repository and make your distro a f*****g hacker/gamer/programer/graphist/... All in one PC. And if is not enough, you can natively and friendly virtualized all da distros/OS who you want. Stable, friendly with high customizations possibilities!

Thanks for the review. Never thought they modified GNOME (never seen EndlessOS in action). However, the downside is that since EndlessOS is based on Debian stable, you always get an outdated version of GNOME. Personally, I don't like it, but for those who value stability, it might be great.

As an unhappy System76 user I do not really care which features it has, my only concern how polished it will be. They tend to leave things buggy and partially implemented for years if not forever.

It's great to start with given the look, ricing hyprland is a choir so I bought it.

We need more GNOME-free desktop environments, but it's a hell of development and finances.

"It's theme is gorgeous" can't say I share that opinion, I think it's a bit too large, bold, and garish. Not really a fan, but then, that's why KDE themes exist. ;)
