@@BeatofHerDrum I only recently discovered that the use of the letter “i” in the phonetic spelling of Chinese words is often pronounced “E”. Apparently it was from the British English phonetic translation using special characters like an “í” or a “î” or something like that. The sound of one of those weird “i”s being “ē”. It’s very confusing because they simplified it to a normal “i” but kept the “ee” pronunciation of the odd phonetic symbol.

For me personally, I didnt know there was a world of instruments I had never heard of out there. It was also good to know about the instrument that I have played, but had no idea of how it evolved. Instruments will continue to evolve, and someone may possibly come up with a new instrument. I'm sure they will need to research how the present instruments were created in order to create something new. Thanks for your input. What instrument do you play ?

Very true, but also depends on the culture. You can hear Reggae and Latin in some cultures. The influences come from a variety of beats which is why I love rhythmatic music. You can take rhythms from long ago, and use it at as foundation to make something new and exciting. Thanks for your insite !

It was much more than to march to the beat of the drum, this was change the pace of the march to either slow down or pick up the pace depending on what was necessary, there is other things to do with marching black watch use's step calipers to keep the steps to a measured length. If you can imagine the faster the beat is will not get you faster from a to b if the steps are shortened hence the same measured steps would.

@@BeatofHerDrum I would also add that whilst marching with the drum on the side one hand would be used over hand and the other under, this carried on to drum sets. Nowadays mostly but not always both hands are over hand, also the high hat use to be low and there is two main styles open arms cross arm playing, a lot of the time both are used, paradiddles single double ect are often used to sort out arms and different drums and cymbals usage.

Thanks for producing educational content. I've been teaching my students about instrument families this semester and these videos are very helpful. One comment: at 0:43 you say that "flute and reed pipe sounds are produced by forcing air through one or more thin reeds." Flutes don't use reeds; they create vibration by blowing air over an opening such that the airstream is split in two (edge tone).
