Testing New Five Tens @ Silvan MTB Park
What better place to test out my new Five Ten Freerider Pro MTB Shoes. Ever since I started riding I have wanted a pair of Five Tens but I could NEVER find any big enough. The wait is over now Adidas has taken over and you can find these badboys all the way up to size 16!
Come for a ride as I share my first impressions of these shoes at Silvan MTB Park. Featuring Temple of Zoom and To the Valley Below

Need to Get Back to La Larr Ba Gauwa MTB Park....really soon
Просмотров 2113 года назад
We stopped at La Larr Ba Gauwa on our way to Black Hill and we barely scratched the surface of what was on offer. Nice flow trails backed up by some really technical trails. The uphill section of track 5 is especially challenging. There's camping at the bottom of the hill so we will be back with tents very, very soon.

What a great MTB destination! A rabbit warren of tech and flow. Most people shuttle but you don't need to! We found a ripper little jumps loop you can get a ton of laps in on. Your jumping will improve in the course of a single day. Check it out! Jump to the Jumps Loop: 10:55 Bike: 2018 Trek Fuel EX 8 Camera: GoPro 8

I'd heard great things about this trail and it didn't disappoint. I had to get over my fears and after my last visit to You Yangs left me off the bike for 6 months with a broken wrist. There's nothing like your mate's to get you through it though and it turned out to be a day to remember.

How to Flip Your Trek Mino Link
Просмотров 19 тыс.4 года назад
The first time I tried to flip the Mino Link on my Trek Fuel EX8 I stripped the bolt, stuffed the link and had to hunt down and fork out for an overpriced proprietary part from Trek to start all over again. Here is my second attempt. Hopefully you can avoid this mistake! Follow me! Strava: www.strava.com/athletes/39954598 Instagram: @the_trail_awaits

Queenstown is the mountain bike gift that keeps on giving and Remarkables Downhill Track was no exception. We had just picked up our hire bikes for the day this was the first stop. It wasn't until I swapped bikes with Stu at the next destination that he noticed the shock was blown. My last run then started to make a whole lot more sense!

Lazy Loop at Lysterfield Mountain Bike Park
Love the Tshirt 😎
I'm just heading out there soon, and keen to do the single blacks... get my confidence up, good to see your progress on these trails, really good pre-look at them! and great to see them through someone about my levels eyes... (3 years ago lol)
No matter how many times I ride that track I'm always worried about that boulder!
tried to nip it up with torque wrench and it snapped the minolink token on my carbon trek rail 9.7, but pushed the 2 parts together and tightened it and it worked so got to get another set, really i think this frame could of been built better as i just got a new upper seat stay put on due to snapped sram udh,had to drill the udh out and it wouldn't unscrew.plenty of people are suffering hard over the udh now its minolink replacement.be very careful with doing nip ups on trek rail 2021👍
I've got 2 torque wrenches, high and low Nm, and they only give the desired torque when operating in a clockwise direction. If I switch to anticlockwise, it's fine for undoing stuff but is now just a simple ratchet handle. I broke my bolt as I was unaware it had to be screwed "in" rather than "out".
How bad is it riding with blown shock?
I hit that massive step down gap on alluvial and cracked my frame😢
When tf was this Troy
Miss your commentary and videos heaps mate..
Thanks mate, I'll have to get of my arse and make some more hey!
Recently I flipped this again and there's a washer in between when you take out the mino link and bolt that fell out rolled on the floor keep an eye for that just in case
RACV resort creswick
LOL at the cinematic intro. We're absolutely like our Five Tens (MTB shoes in general) and couldn't ride without wearing those. They are just so grippy!
Reminds me of when I first started riding there, great place to progress. You'll be smashing the A lines in no time 😝
Cheers, can’t wait to get back
did you go riding to the slope style jumps across the other side of the quarry, nnnnnice
Is that those crazy dirt jumps? They were next bloody level!
@@thetrailawaits2353 yyyyep.
If you are dead lifting , try cyclist squats.
Great video. Awesome how you clearly got quicker during the day! If you had the choice of using an Ebike for the trail, would you take it?
I think an e bike would do a great job on this trail. A lot of people use them here. I’ve been back recently and I think I was in the minority without a motor! I like the pedal though even though it hurts
Videos are great, commentary is outstanding...keep it up 🤘🤘
Cheers! Thanks for watching
Great vid mate 🤟🏽
Cheers! Thanks for watching
How good is Harcourt!? Looks like you had perfect conditions, too… and the light is 😍. Definitely worth camping and riding both sides. The north is pretty big on the climb and very gnarly but has some great descents (track 8). That first jump after the berm on track 2 caught me off guard too. Pretty sure my reaction was similar to yours first time I hit it. Nice video mate! The cidery is worth a visit too.
Thanks man! Yes it is awesome. It’s a shame I only had a couple of hours there but will definitely be camping next time. That jump line was an awesome surprise, I thought we were just cruising back down to the car. Thanks for the tips, can’t wait to check out the other side and head to the cidery after!
Stoked you finally found shoes that fit ya!! 😁
Cheers man!
What bike you got?
Trek Fuel EX8, 2018
Noice mate! Ready to go back when you are!
Bloody oath! Let's do it
Great video, the realistic impact of a crash...it haunts you
Cheers! Yeah it takes a bit to get the old confidence back too. Thanks for watching
In the 2022 Top Fuel, Trek moved the minolink to just below the shock. It now has only one bolt. I wonder if I need to lock out the shock or something before pulling the bolt completely out?
awesome, felt every bump...well done dude.
Cheers mate !
Beautiful place!
Cool
The bloke who dropped his helmet, think he might have bought that from me lol ..Bell 4 Forty?
Not sure what helmet it was but it was Jem from Jem MTB
If you want jumps, Nerrina is perfect. Bushland near Black Hill in Ballarat. They are unauthorised but these are so many jumps.
Hardcore, I’ll put it on the post lockdown list!
If your a novice there it’s good to go off alluvial into sluice
Yeah that was a cool track 👍
Nice. Black Hill is awesome.
Bloody oath! Thanks for watching
@@thetrailawaits2353 Did you hit Open Cut?
2:32 Did excatly as you did but my bolt snapped at 16nm... Made a forum thread; www.mtbr.com/threads/trek-remedy-9-8-2018-mino-link-bolt-keeps-snapping.1190842/#post-15366207
Yeah I’ve never had the courage to do that final Boulder, I can barely get down the b line on the left! In fact, a massive brown snake popped out from the b line and slithered parallel with me once, scared the crap out of me! I do believe I could do that Boulder, I just have a strong panic reflex and it’s got me into trouble in the past.
Apologies for the late reply! Man there are heaps of things I don’t hit that the rest of my mates do, it’s all about having fun. Sometimes that fun is pushing outside your comfort zone, sometimes it’s just enjoying the trail and hitting it again the next day. That day you do feel like you can hit though go for it!
Great video mate, looks like a top spot for progression. Some very good riders call this their local.
Cheers mate!
Btw sluice was one of my favourite trails there
I just rode yesterday with me mate
I went up here a few months back trails are awesome, lots of variety and steep stuff the camera doesn't do it justice. Did u see the huge road gap also? Love the commentary on your vids mate keep up the good work, cheers for sharing
Thanks man! Yeah road gap was crazy. Some really cool dirt jumps in amongst it too. Cheers
Haha, yep it is a bit of a rabbit warren! so good to see you at my local, yeah it's scary as when you 1st ride there hey, funny I haven't actually discovered that loop! and I live here,, good overview of the tracks and great edit 👏👊
Cheers man. Yeah it's a bit intimidating at first but surprising how quickly you can progress there. Would have loved more than a day to get into it. Will have have to hit you up when I'm up there next time.
@@thetrailawaits2353 For sure! I'll take you down Open Cut if you didn't do that one, and you could help me with my jumping progression by the looks of it ;)
Keep up the good content, u deserve way more subs mate good stuff.
Cheers mate! I’ve been slack lately with the uploads, got to get back at it. Thanks for the motivation, stay tuned
Is it possible to detach the swing so i can clean and may grease the points where it mooves when i allready have the bolts loosen? Or do i have to remove the dampner so the parts can be seperated?
You inspired me mate ! After watching you do this I had to get it. This was a mental barrier for years.
That's awesome! Sometimes that's what it takes. If Stu wasn't there to show me the way I would not have been able to attempt it. Great to hear!
Just knowing your wrist is broken when you are going over those rocks is giving my anxiety lol. I absolutely shattered my hand a couple of years back and I can remember the pain from vibrations even months after. Can only imagine what you did to that wrist from all the bumps, using a whipper snipper for like 30 minutes was enough to wreck my hand for a week.
Man it was pure stupidity. I'd driven all that way and this was an early run, I tried to convince myself it was just a bit sore. When it seemed evident it wasn't ok I still went up for another run. This was dumb. It took a long time to heal. Sorry to hear about your hand. Hopefully it's all good now. Thanks for watching.
Looks awesome. I can't wait to get my fitness up and join in on some of these!
Nice one mate! Keen to get there still
I’m keen to go back! Let’s do it.
The camera really doesn't show how steep this mother is, I filmed this as well and looked back at the footage and was like what! Well done man! I know how intimidating this boulder is, great work :)
Cheers man. Too true, it is bloody intimidating and the GoPro makes it look mighty tame
Haven't tried Boulder yet, will try it next time I'm out there. How do you get to it, the same ascent you use for Cressys/Travs/lactic etc?
You have to get to that trailhead first but then there is a track that takes you to the other side of the park I think. I can't remember to be honest, I was just following the others! I'm sure someone else can chime in with directions. Thanks for watching!
You can use any of the ascents to get to it, it’s past all the other downhill trails, further across than lactic acid. The quickest way is via trails 2 and 3, called Dam View.
Nice one mate, you even took it nice and controlled. Boulder is one of the trails I missed at Youi's, I always did wonder why it was called that haha.
Cheers man! You’ll have to hit it next time, it’s bloody awesome 👍🏻
That berm got me 4 weeks ago and I still have bruises.
It has no mercy
Cool vid man, what type of bike were you on?
Cheers, thanks for watching! I'm on a 2018 Trek Fuel EX8. Great bike and the only one I could find to come in XXL
Let me know if you are organising another meetup. Would be keen to go for a ride and loose some covid weight.
Will do man, thanks for watching!
I can't find these trails on trail forks, do you have a strava map of your ride. Keen to try this route.
Great vid mate! Which entrance do you take to get to thr Lazy Loop? Or where do you get on from? Cheers 👍🏼
Thanks for watching. It's through the main entrance, Horswood Rd I think. As you come through on you'll see a track on your right just before the main gates. Go down there, hang a left at the gate for the lake loop, then head straight ahead into the first single track trail. Enjoy!
@@thetrailawaits2353 awesome! Thanks for replying 👍🏼
