My 2012 Silverado has the same dash cover -- and there is something stuck there -- looks to be part of some kind of tape or residue from where the previous owner had mounted a phone holder or something? I have been debating with myself to try the GOO Gone I have in a can here. After seeing that it did not damage the GM Dash cover -- I am going to try it today -- Great video -- You have a lot of patience that's for sure!

Hahaha this is crazy, I looked up this engine on RUclips to find a video of it running and I stumble across this one. I thought I recognize that guy that was working on the engine, just to look at the description into realize that is him. I worked with that guy in South Texas on a boat, and he told me he was the EMD mechanic for Mike Inc. Small world, Bobby is a bad mother fucker too I wish I could work with him more.

My sister owned a 92 Nissan Sentra. I performed all her oil changes on it. This never happen to the 92 because it had a full metal oil dip stick. She later for a 2001 Sentra and this happened to it twice so far. Nissan even issued a service builtin for it. They recommend using a shop vacuum to remove it. They are idiots. There is no reason why this happens on newer and not older cars. They should just go back to the full metal ones. Since the idiots won't, your best prevention is to put oil around the shaft of the top of the oil dip stick to properly lubricate it from keeping it from sticking to the walls of the tube.
