    Interesting - but you should put which season and episode these appear in. I've been trying to find them, and believe some are: Achilles and Testicles is from S14E17 "Take a letter" 300 - unknown Chronos the God of Time is from S12E13 "3 Acts Of God" Brian and Stewie in the Trojan War is from S18E07 "Heart Burn" Battle for Greece's Peanut Butter Cup is also from S18E07 "Heart Burn"

      If you mean from Ixia to Rhodes Town then the answer is a definite "yes". I've done it myself a couple of times and I would recommend you stick to the coast as much as possible then head right into town.

      @calumbeaton9858 Depending on where in Ixia you begin and where in Rhodes town you finish you're looking at 5 to 7km. So, depending on speed and stops you're looking at one to two hours. Hope that helps. Don't forget to take plenty of water, suitable clothing, a hat, sunscreen, card and cash, and a fully charged phone.

Even though Kos is classed as an international airport, I'm not sure if there are direct flights from Toronto to Kos. All I can suggest is check with the airlines. Sorry I'm not much help at all John.

    how did you legally fly over these places when Greece has a strict prohibition on drones over historic areas?

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece 3 месяца назад

      Good question. It depends on the location and/or site. For example, to fly one over "general" sites you must check with the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, and also have an A2 certificate. For flying a standard size drone over archaeological sites, you first have to obtain permission from the relevant overseer of what you wish to fly over and then the equivalent Civil Aviation Authority. In fact, over the last two years I've noticed that even using a gimbal and/or tripod walking around the Acropolis of Athens you will be stopped, as more often they are now seeing this as professional and thus require a licence. Hope this helps.

    Why don't you give directions and street names such a waste of time

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece 4 месяца назад

      Hi Eric, I'm really sad you found this video in your words "such a waste of time". I spent a lot of time, money and effort to produce something which most people out there have found very useful. The problem with street names is that they are in Greek and those who don't read and understand the language will not find it helpful at all. In fact, for a few videos I did provide street names, and this exactly was the problem...people found it very confusin. As to directions, I'm not sure what you mean, as the walk itself provides exactly that. Also, each of the places I mention are in fact an aide to direction.

      Hi Eric, I hear what you say about signs being in English, but not all of them have the English translation. I'm sorry you got lost, but you see this video is not about providing a detailed guided tour map to cover every possible outcome. However, Google maps have a great method for producing your own detailed routes, or you could use one of the many free city-centre maps available at lots of places. Once again, I'm sorry you just didn't find my video useful, but maybe there's something out there for you which would.

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece 4 месяца назад

      Yes it is. For October you're looking at an average temperature of 22 degrees Celcius during the day. As for the water temperature, that's going to be an average of 21 to 24. As a matter of fact, early next week I'll be putting out the first of a two-part complete guide to the must-visit beaches on Kos. It will cover everything most will need to know including: where they are, how to get to them by car and bus, parking and if it's free, what's the beach and the water like, is there watersports, can you rent boats, places to eat, and other great things to do close-by.

    I based my sailboat in Lindos in the 1980s when it was unspoilt. 2 members of the Pink Floyd had houses there and came sailing with us. In August Italians flocked to the village for the annual backgammon competition held at Socrates Bar. I think I would hate the place now it has been "discovered"

As for taxis, it really depends on time of year, as they are not always around, but the square I showed do have them. My advice would be to ask your hotel if your staying in one and/or book one for the return journey. Hope that helps. Ian

    My family will be going in mid-March 2025. Is there any benefit to booking an afternoon time, in the hopes that most of the tour groups will have been and gone?

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece 5 месяцев назад

      That really is a great question. Perhaps most of the tour groups will have gone, but it will be much busier than the morning due to backlog. Most tour groups, especially coaches etc don't arrive until after 09:15 - 10:00. You could try very late afternoon going into 4pm onwards, but bear in mind that the sun will be setting about 5pm onwards. Having said that, in March it will be considerably quieter, with far less going each day. There's also "free days" throughout the year which are every first Sunday of the month, from November 1st to March 31st, which is when a lot of locals will go. Hope that helps, but please feel free to ask anything.

    This is the first of your Athens videos I have watched and I like the way you show the entire route and don't jump around from place to place. Your commentary is just enough to make me curious to explore the area further. I am trying to decide between 2 hotels at either end of this walk, the Hera Hotel near the Acropolis Museum and A for Athens on Monastiraki Square. Your walk takes us through a very nice area of the Plaka so I am leaning a bit toward the more peaceful Acropolis Museum area. I'm not sure if the A for Athens will be too loud at night. But would the Hera Hotel add a lot of extra walking back and forth to the Plaka/Monasteraki area? Thoughts?

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much Jill for your lovely comment. It's always difficult for me to decide whether to just film the entire route as one big take, or would people become bored because there's no 'amazing things" happening every two minutes. But I keep experimenting and enjoy trying new ways. In terms of the two hotels you mentioned, it's not really an easy choice is it. A for Athens is right on Monastiraki Square and would essentially carry a greater risk of noise late evening and into night because of the square being a focal point for people. You see it's the main place where people meet, and there's often loud entertainment. Also, there's a rooftop bar which closes very late, and whilst you've got to go there regardless for the views and drinks (try the zombie), there's that to consider. Now I'm not saying it's going to be noise which will keep you up well into the night, but you don't know which location your room will be. I would suggest take a look at the reviews on Google and tripadvisor and filter for noise. However, it's much more central to the main things you will want to see, with many just 5-15 minutes walk away. There's also going to be a lot more great places to eat and drink that'll be easier to get to. As for the Hera Hotel, it should be quiter even though it's a short walk from the main road in and out of the city, but you will be much further away from most things you will want to see. There's also that walk back you may have to do a few times after walking all day.

    • @jillellerton325
      @jillellerton325 5 месяцев назад

      @@GoExploreGreece Thank you so much for your thoughts on my hotel question. The points you've made are the same sort of things that I go back and forth on. I agree that the things that will make the Monasteraki Square location more noisy/busy are also the reasons I'd want to stay in the area.

      @@GoExploreGreece I have now watched a few more of your walking tour videos and I still think this video with its real time walk and a few short snippets of commentary is my favourite. I learn more about the place and appreciate it more with little bits on information. You could do this with the small voice overs or add short typed banners of information and not take away from the lovely walk. It would also be nice to have your route (the street names) written out in the discription so that I could recreate it myself. Keep experimenting - you're on the right track!

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece 5 месяцев назад

      Gill, thanks for your comment and suggestions, especially your ideas regarding having the street names come up. Although street names are not always so easily placed and recognisable as in the UK, it's certainly something I'm going to look into to see how it can be done. Perhaps a map of sorts which the person can download. Anyway, thanks again for your comment.

    That image at 2:25 of both buildings is great-1849. Say, how was the Frankish Tower destroyed?

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece 5 месяцев назад

      That's a great question Kevin. Built in the 13th century it was destroyed in 1874 because people at the time wanted to restore the Acropolis to its ancient Greek appearance. They felt the medieval tower was out of place and clashed with the classical ruins, so they removed it to make the Acropolis look more like it did in ancient times.

      The reason why I said it was only open for 15 minutes is because that what was I was told by the person at the gate and at the place where you get the tickets. Since I also speak Greek I understood them both. I even went back after getting to the end for extra footage and found the entrance was closed and it had only been 40 minutes.
