A Reason To Never Give Up - The Tragic Story of Nick Drake
Просмотров 295 тыс.Год назад
In this short animated documentary type video we explore the life of the mysterious Nick Drake. While many people expected Nick Drake to have a succesful music carreer he never got to that point during his lifetime. However, at this point in time, almost 50 years after his passing were still talking about him. How did Nick Drake die? And what can his short life teach us? Nick Drake released 3 a...
Rest in Peace on your 50th anniversary! November 25th 1974/2024.
If it wasn’t for Nick Drake, I wouldn’t have discovered CGCFCE. Such a beautiful tuning.
Beautifully spoken and thought provoking ❤
Thank you ♥️
How can someone so inconsistent mess up so consistently?
Could you imagine a world where Nick Drake finally found love....and lived to make albums about love...
Its all about wanting to die and the earth embracing our demise.
He is genius❤
I absolutely love him but I can see why the industry didn't take to him. His tracks were just not that exciting, when you compare it to other people. He was a genius, he had an understanding of the guitar that no one ever reached, but his manager dumped him and he was without any mentor or direction. I love Nick, but let's not pretend that he was a perfect fit for the 1970 music scene.
Please vote for Nick Drake.... ruclips.net/user/postUgkxYrevGv3RCL5YGvw2N3J_n5mr3ARRNcZ2?feature=shared
“Your other life” is nearly a masterpiece
Anyone have insight to the album cover of IS IT Such a strange cover and I feel like there's a deeper meaning that I haven't quite gotten to yet....thx
The exact meaning behind Ben Howard's art whether its his lyrics or album covers is something he himself wouldn't explain, so we can only guess. What I can tell you however is that the album cover for 'is it?' is made by a graphic designer called Bráulio Amado (you can find him on Instagram) to me it perfectly encapsulates Ben's confusing view of the world around him when he was experiencing his TIA's
what a amazing video! thank you ❤️❤️🥰
Glad you liked it!!
I'll leave a kinder, less sarcastic comment now. Why couldn't this be an hour long? I would gladly listen to an hour of you deep-diving into the lyrics of Modest Mouse, because they are genuinely fascinating and could easily hold up an hour-long video essay. You clearly understand what Isaac Brock and his crew are trying to convey. There is so much to be said of their art and I'd love to listen to someone go through it with a fine tooth comb.
Haha you definitely made a good point though! The main reason is that these videos take a long time to make and WWD would probably deserve a 10 minute + video on its own.
@withinmotion 🥹 someone gets it. Someone finally gets it. WWD deserves so much praise. It is hands down, no contest, my favorite LP.
WWDBTSES: Am I a joke to you? Im always glad to see MM get praise in any form. That being said... you SKIPPED my favorite album! How dare you!?!
How about uhhhhhh play some of his music so we know what he did as a musician. Or talk about the lyrics he wrote or his unique sound if he had one. Jeez I feel like a fith grade teachor
teacher*
I'll have to listen to this album with this in mind; I must admit, it's my least favorite of their albums. I don't hate it, but for me they just didn't change it up enough. Like I loved the departure that was "Vide Noir," but... Well, speaking of which, I feel like a lot of people conflate absurdism with atheism, which, it's not that they don't go together but that it's far from a requirement. There's a whole lore to Lord Huron involving reincarnation and shit, and like... Even with that, ESPECIALLY with that, maybe... Because we're talking about eternal existence. Far from being an extrapolation, isn't eternity baked right into The Myth of Sisyphus? There's also Nietzsche's eternal return... All this shit has mystic subtext. Partly because like Nietzsche was drawing from Schopenhauer, who was drawing from Hindu thought, and partly because... Well, they were also in conversation with like Plato, who I'm convinced was drawing from a mystic tradition that goes back to prehistory. Anyway, good to know that Lord Huron actually did put a lot of thought into this album, because I really do like them a lot. Lord Huron was my favorite band until I discovered my-favorite-band-of-all-time-who-changed-my-life The Oh Hellos. Started out as... Well, they never called themselves a Christian band because they didn't want to be exclusive, and I definitely do relate to their earlier stuff on the level of broad spirituality. But their Anemoi Cycle (EPs Notos, Eurus, Boreas, and Zephyrus) is some next level shit. It's like a personal journey of deconstruction of fundamentalism and nationalism and all that that entails, and has some intense thematic progression and recontextualization, imagery from both Greek and Biblical mythology, motifs (both lyrical and melodical) (some of the latter are thematic leitmotifs), word-play... And it's all SO deeply felt and relevant! I am OBSESSED! I've spent a WHOLE bunch of time analyzing their music, flew from Georgia to Rhode Island earlier this year just to see them at the Newport Folk Festival... To be fair, I probably wouldn't have done that if they were still touring regularly (this was the first time they'd performed in 6 years). On the other hand, I don't think I would've done that for anyone else. Maybe Darlingside. But that's another story!
I dont like a single song after Every kingdom, and now i know why. Hes still still one of my favourite guitarists and singers, just when he wasnt sad and low.
Wonderful depiction of bens career so far. Brilliant video
Thank you!
Life changing. I have found myself while listening to Lord Huron. Thank you so much
Today, 26th October 2024, F.C. Barcelona is back 😢
I had never heard of him or his music til I saw the movie Serendipity and The Lakehouse. Loved it right away and did some research on him. Was so saddened by his story. I don't know what made him so unhappy. Could've been a chemical imbalance. I think he would've been 77 this year. My heart goes out to his family. I have a musician child that I worry about. Very shy, quiet, sensitive, loner, not social, can get depressed. All I can do is be there, pray and hope for the best.
You missed his greatest collaborations, look for his Paul Hartnoll video on you tube, his first directing job for the band money and his short film with Feist. He is also a long time friend of the music producer Flood.
When he did this on jools Holland later show that’s when he hit me with it playing the resonator guitar and doing it live like that it made me a fan instantly he’s very good.
wait are you vox stoica???????????
I don't think it's correct to say that "childhood trauma" is one of the themes of "Five Leaves Left". I think his sister might disagree. It is a theory - touched on in Trevor Dann's book - which seems to have no solid basis in fact. Unless you can quote me lyrics to the contrary.
❤❤❤❤this guys music …hits deep
Thank you for this ❤️
Thank you for watching!
I follow this channel for a while now and always thougt... Ahh a video about Elena/Daughter would be awesome because its my favorite band and singer. And now its here and i couldn't be happier with how it turned out. This is so beautiful.

Probably worth mentioning although born in London his family moved to Devon when he was 8 to a small town called Totness and he was influenced by growing up there and spending his formative years in the south west by the coast.

Yes indeed . And still not connecting the dots .
As life gets longer the awful feels softer and it feels pretty soft to me... And if it takes shit to get bliss, i feel pretty blissfully. Gets me every time.

The human condition is reduced to nihilism/absurdity when one does not consider his creator!
Almost made the Club of 27...@ahead of his class...just kidding guys...of course it was a tragedy coming from a failure
