Carbon french grips
Просмотров 126Год назад
This is a video on making a carbon french grip for an epee. It's probably not interesting to anyone but the three or four people who are trying to do that. I just filmed what I was doing and slapped it together with minimal editing so it's ridiculously long, sorry about that.

    Riboud was clearly based during the final. You can hear him breathing like a freight train, the result of him only having one function lung. Kevin, thank you for uploading this. I have a copy of this on VHS somewhere, and I was wondering how I was going to get it converted and uploaded.

    thanks for the video... I have to check a few of the grips a guy running his own club made here in the 90's - but I think he just did them cheap and dirty (well quick and fast) - cut some wood into size of a french grip (and straight) and drilled a hole down the centre and hey presto instant ambidextrous french grip!!! - so he didn't need to buy any french grips (fencing gear here is twice as expensive [at least] as the states..) he had too many beginners and not enough foils (he also used bamboo sticks as foils for some people so they had something to hold..) and that seemed to work sadly he passed away many years ago - Trevor Fowler of fowler's french fencing academy (or FFFA) in Adelaide Australia

    thanks Kevin... a good review of the gear as I am in Australia but have been buying gear off ebay to re-sell here (the things we do for fun... ) - mind you only buying from sellers who seemed to have no idea what they were selling and picking things up for cheap and of course sending them to a central US shipper, consolidating and shipping back to me.... maybe one day I'll get organised to sell them rather than just pile them up (on my list of things to do...lol). thanks fr your link from the reddit post on good starter kit..... (and for once i didn't reply or waffle on...lol)

    Wow, you guys are really into rigging. I built a D20 hull number 3 or 4 and developed the technique for trailering the boat. See the trailer pic on Chris's web site. None of the apparatus you are using are necessarily and it should not take more than 30 minutes to launch. It really isn't that hard or complex.

    • @KSONeill
      @KSONeill Год назад

      Hi Robert, sorry I missed your comment when you made it. We were at about 30 minutes from pulling in to sailing off, so not a big difference in time. The post makes folding and unfolding much much safer. Without it we were always on the verge of dropping a hull, and it wasn't really possible for one person to fold and unfold the boat. With the post one person can easily fold or unfold the boat in 5 minutes. I've probably folded and unfolded it a hundred times in my driveway when working on it, very easy and safe this way. It's possible just hoarking it up by hand but it's a lot more work and a lot more dangerous, IMO.

    come on! how fast is this?!

    • @KSONeill
      @KSONeill 7 лет назад

      9 or 10 knots, I think. The boat is a Core Sound 17. Quite fast for a monohull, but it still tops out at 12 knots or so. 10 knots feels FAST.

    Seriously? WTF are you guys doing? A video of a Windows laptop booting up?????? Waste of time.

    • @KSONeill
      @KSONeill 7 лет назад

      Thanks, Joe! The point of the video is the setup/teardown of the bungee reel system for epee fencing, not really the laptop booting up. How's the sailing going? K O'N

    • @JosephOster
      @JosephOster 7 лет назад

      Why not explain that in the description? I assumed it was related to sailing somehow. One of your videos appeared in my G+ stream but had been removed when I clicked it, so I ended up watching this fencing setup instead. BORING!

    • @albertbresca8904
      @albertbresca8904 Год назад

      @@JosephOster actually as a fencer quite interesting... setting up the bungee system (replacing a thousand dollars in reels and cables with something about 100) and then seeing the laptop booting up using the VSM system (virtual scoring machine ) - true only of interest to a fencer....

    Hi,you should have used a longer outrigger further out and the outrigger arms spaced further apart to make full use of the double paddle(kayak paddle)and the arms placed around the cockpit.This also helps to prevent the fallouts and makes entering from the outrigger side easier.Good slim hull though and you should be able to go real fast.
