THE FIRST SIGN OF WINTER
Surfers Corner at Muizenberg Beach has been occupied by surfers since 1910, when a picture of Heather Price was posted in the local newspaper showing her standing up on a surfboard, it basically went "viral". Apparently she borrowed a surfboard from visiting Australians. More than 100 years later and this little town is still alive and well, and boasts with life & some of the most talented surfers in Africa!

Thoroughly enjoyed watching skilled surfers doing some great work, at my old stomping ground. Miss surfing those waves, in Muizenberg. My mate and a few buddies were on that beach every Saturday munching on hollowed out loaf with a pack of chips shoved in and a bottle of cola to wash it down. Happy days 🎉

Reckless to haul nets through a surfing zone

This is so cool! We were out last weekend and the net went out and everyone had to hop over/under it as the crew pulled it across the break. Tourists were confused, but I shouted to my nephew, whom I was surf coaching... these are the fishermen's turf, and what they're doing is historical! The shark flag changed colour.. and we felt ALIVE !

Seems you forgot about the beach/surfing ban during the pandemic!? 😅 (I remember watching clean lines roll through at Muizenberg for multiple days in a row with nobody on them. Crazy times!)
Never heard of a shark spotter when i was young and the beach was packed over the summer school holidays, not one attack that I know of. I’m sure there were sharks there i know the Gray Nurse liked the Cob that swam in the wind churned water. But never heard of an attack. Down Fish Hoek way they had Yellow Tail spotters on the mountain side. There was one or two attacks there by GW with the English lady really highlighting the reason to get out of the water when they’re spotted.
