@@stevenhusmann3816 doesn’t take much to get us Gulf Coasters excited 🤙🏼but the fact that Lost.. team riders Rasta Rob and Cory Lopez came over to ride(see my Hurricane Helene Guif Shores Alabama video) says a lot.
Every Southern California Surfer would be absolutely thrilled right now to have these waves after what some are saying their longest swell drought ever. Not an eyebrow? Pfffft! Ask any surfer in Huntington Beach to watch this video to see some of the waves breaking back into the pier on this day what they think and they'd tell you it was a solid ass day. Your purposeful condescending attitude is what's so "sad and tragic" You will never appreciate whatever surf you do get more than the Gulfcoast guys.

There are some serious legends out in those waters!!! Off shore winds and double overhead conditions produced legendary conditions. If those are all locals then Alabama has some serious legends living there.

I’ve always wondered how Slater got so good growing up with such inconsistent swell. I would think someone has to be out there every day damn near to get that good. But I guess you need a specific type of talent to get that great also tho.

That opening clip of the 360 air to the dedging barrel might be the best GC clip ive ever seen. Looked like the winds were still pretty stiff over in Bama. Awesome day of pumping bama barrels! Wonder how it was back in FWB. Mustve been absolutely HUGE!

Where'd you surf Jmac? The jetty? My north pine spot right before the real onshores was all time.
@Surferjoefwb Hurricane Wilma was the best swell I've ever surfed in fla other than the outside at the Jupiter Inlet on a nor easter. Lido point in Sarasota during Hurricane Wilma was the longest waves I've ever seen. Its my benchmark for swells. That storm had the lowest pressure of any storm and was massive as it came up the channel. Luckily this storm was moved a little slower at first than predicted which put us in that full on southwest wrap flinging swell in our direction. I surfed the first little bend in Redington beach and then migrated down behind the condos on sand key once the winds were 40 plus. Incredible skeleton bay like lefts ripping down the beach with Nobody around. Stayed until almost dark then walked 3 miles down and over the causeway to my car getting stopped by the police. Lol I knew they were going to shut it down so I made the walk. Nothing can stop a determined west fla surfer who's looking to max out on what's possible here. 🤙

@Surferjoefwb Joe, I literally put my skeleton bay spot all over social media for years and nobody ever shows up. I do not understand why.... Would love to have you down in the winter to catch some. The drive is just frickin long.... Days of swell during Wilma? I bet! We had two. I will never forget that swell. It was relatively slow moving and just pumped. Its cool knowing that it was the best swell for you too. Seems like a long time ago now. Almost 20! Dang are we getting that old ALREADY!? 🤣
Why is the water dark some days, green some days and blue other days? And why would it be different at different TIMES of day? They say it depends on the tide. There is no tide with high levels and low levels through out a day like at the beach. If you go there for vacation how can you know if Crab Island is looking BLUE or looking not so good?
@@JQUICK21 at high tide that area fills with pretty water from the Gulf. At low tide the brown water from Choctawhatchee bay gets sucked out and fills the area. High tide when the sun is high in the sky is the time to go.
Big swell inbound on the Emerald. Hope its absolute perfection tomorrow. The evening looking like it could be incredible for you. All day for that matter but tomorrow evening could do Gulfcoast XXXL on those outer shoals. Down here im looking at 1-3 by dark tonight and weak side angled refraction swell bending in. Timing for tomorrow morning looks bad. Storm already on top of us at dawn. Im my Sand Key spot in north Pinellas the wind will be offshore. If the torrential rains arent out of control ITS DOABLE and there will be skeleton bay style endless lefts dredging wide open heavy barrels. These are the days i live for. Nobody there, the Gulf throwing out the max it can offer. I'll be hunting at the crack of dawn from Indian Shores to North Clearwater Beach. My conscious wont allow me to not go. I have to at least make the attempt or i will be thinking about the big one that got away for years... then its hunker down. Any shift left or right will play significantly into our surf conditions.

I should've called in and left this morning to be up there to catch the whole swell. Hurricane winds right now down in the channel pushing that swell right at you from the deep water. Yall are going to get it so good. The buoy 200 miles off the coast of Naples is already over 6' southeast. I'm super stoked for my fellow Gulfcoasters. 🤙 I'll let you know how it turns out Monday.
