Camaro 1967 GM original promotion film
This is the year of the Camaro - the car of today! - Fascinating GM original promotion film for the new Camaro in 1967.
The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro 1967-1969 is an American muscle car introduced by Chevrolet in the fall of 1966 for the 1967 model year. It rode on a brand-new rear-wheel-drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2+2 seat, hardtop, and convertible. The F-body was shared with the Pontiac Firebird for all generations. A 230 cu in Chevrolet straight-6 was standard, with several Chevy V8s available as options.

Mustang came along in '64.5 and opened eyes, regarding affordable, relatively compact, powerful American sports driving. Then Chevy said, "Whoa! We've got to get in on this!" The pricey Corvette, while superior to the Mustang, wasn't competitive, price-wise. Enter the Camaro and Firebird. Heavier than the Mustang, but with bigger engines. And the muscle car era launched in earnest.
Never cared for Camaros ....Mustangs is where its at
😆😆😆😆😆
somebodys grand parents lol
So mines use to sit at 30 at hot idle now sits a 15 - 20 and people are telling me that’s too low and i should just get a new oil pump in my 2012 ss
It has been reported that there are several issues with the L99, including cam bearings that slip out of place, leading to reduced oil pressure. Additionally, the seal on the oil pump neck can crack, causing low oil pressure. Specific AFM (Active Fuel Management) problems have been noted, where the special lifters sometimes stick and lose their functionality. Low oil pressure due to leakage at the numerous seals, including the AFM system, is also common. Generally, an acceptable oil pressure for many V8 engines at warm idle can range from 20 to 60 psi. According to GM's service manual, the minimum acceptable oil pressure at a warm engine is 6 psi at 1000 rpm, 18 psi at 2000 rpm, and 24 psi at 4000 rpm.
I deleted dod and put tsp 2.2 cam and didn't change oil pump or pick up tube o-ring and I'm not sure if that's what's making me have low oil pressure but it stays around 20psi at all times. It's high miles but the heads and everything we're done to match the cam. It runs great and I am not even sure it's actually low pressure
The back seat wasn’t for extra passengers 😂
18:15 No wheel hop, hmmm. They somehow figured out how to add that capability to my 67 RS/SS. In '68 they went with staggered rear shocks which helped a lot.
I HAVE THIS VIDEO ON MY CHANNEL LOL.
Great! Original I got this film from a GM deal in Alvesta, Sweden back in beginning of 1980.
Mycket nostalgi 😊
They couldn't admit- WE GOT CAUGHT WITH OUR PANTS DOWN!!!"
I love my 67 RS in original Marina Blue black interior 327 4speed , I have had it about 35 years & restored it all my self . I will never sell it 😀 I wish U tube could let post pics of it here …
I did the mistake and sold my Camaro 1969 convertible and Z28/RS back in the 90's. Still regret it!
Much better car than the Mustang by far
Good god, the understeer and body roll in the turns!!!
In the future we will be forced to drive electric cars whether you like it or not. No gasoline will be available. 😮😢
As an owner of a 69 RS/SS I approve this video!!
Camaro putting mustangs back in their stalls since 1967😎 I sure do like my 69 RS
I found it odd that the engineers said it needs single leaf springs. When the next year they put double ones.
IMHO, the Camaro is a Corvair design reboot. It shares many styling queues from the second generation Corvair, inside and out, but changed and adapted enough to have its own identity and front engine layout. If the Corvair's reputation hadn't been so sullied by 1966, I can't help but think the Corvair name may have succeeded to the new Panther/Camaro. Many styling queues are carried over from the Corvair. Interesting side note, ever notice the Camaro never had the very popular round taillights until 1970? That was the first year there was no Corvair in the line-up with round taillights. Many styling similarities can be found between the 2nd generation Corvair and 1st generation Camaro. Personally, in high school, during the mid-seventies, my first gotta have car was a Camaro, but it was the uniqueness and design of the 2nd gen Corvair that actually stole my heart.
Just a few years later, all this desIgn integrity produced another GM winner--the mini-Camaro, aka the VEGA. Computer designed to cheat the customer as much as possible, and send irate customers straight to import dealerships.
So many of these commercials were so damn corny during that time. You have a bunch of old farts trying to show how cool they really are BUT it shows just how much they really weren't!!!!
Ok - convinced. Nice car! When is it possible to order it? :D
I am good for about $3500 cash, I'll take one...
Looks much better than today's camaro, ground clearance. Ground clearance makes it possible to have fun, clear speed bumps. 😊
Love the one-legger burnout
I laughed too
Without the Mustang, there would be NO Camaro.
100% true!
There is no more Camaro😂MUSTANG WON! IT'S OVER
There would be no Cougar, Barracuda, Firebird,or Challenger and all of them died in the end leaving the only car that started it all, the Mustang.
Camero. French for buddy
Slick, funny how the older camera tech actually reduces the true beauty of the car, still so glad it came along. Thanks Mustang!
Never seen MacPherson and Holls on-film. Very interesting.
I remember watching the TV show "Bewitched" and Chevrolet was a sponsor even the concept cars made it to your living room .
2 things , when was taking about the SS models and was showing the 67 Impala SS grill , he says its a 396 , the badge says 427 . And first gen Camaro's were OK , but they just reminded me of bloated Corvairs....
I saw that too
Very groovy man !
No mention of the Z28.
They creatively avoided admitting their target was the Mustang.
What do you mean? That dinosaur computer is the reason why it isn't a Mustang.
i guess the 1:1 scale clay models get destroyed at the end?
Dumpster or company museum. Decided by budget and corporate whim.
targetted for youth -- all I could afford then was a '59 Plymouth Savoy flat 6!! Now I can buy one - $100K.
This promotional film was created for the annual summer preview conference (dealer introduction) attended by the owners of Chevrolet franchises. Likely, it was also shown later at each Chevrolet franchise to the sales team. The early introduction 1965 Ford Mustang really caught General Motors off guard... which the Chevrolet Division at the time trying to wring out as many compact sporty car sales as possible with the Corvair Monza/Corsa coupes and convertibles. Thus, a quick management decision was made immediately after the April 1964 introduction of the Mustang to engineer the Camaro (and its derivative the Pontiac Firebird which debuted as a 1967 1/2 model). The first generation Mustang had a narrower straight line linear look... but the first generation Camaro was styled to have a wider rounded look on its bodysides (somewhat muted with the 1969 facelift). Dave Holls is better known as a prominent designer of the iconic 1959 Cadillac.
18:17 how'd they do that without wheelhop from those great monoleafs?!
Skinny tires!
Oscar looks ike an early version of Buster. "Engineers came-up with single leaf rear springs" LOL !! In 1967-68 Ford had a brochure that folded-out showing a Camaro but when you unfold the cover it's a Corvair with redesigned front fenders ! Those were the days, ordering whatever engine & accesories you could afford to spend a few hundred dollars more for.
Looks a whole lot like a Ford Mustang . Looks to be about the same size as a Mustang.
Is that Rodger Smith narrating ?
The first generation of the Camaro is really stunning. I really like the design, the proportions and it has such a good 60ies vibe.
For 11 dollars more you can get a firebird
11 dollars back then is like 125 today. Inflation
For 11 dollars more you can get a firebird
You had to wait five months to get one.

It's amazing today how GM wants to ruin everything today 🫤🫤

They dreamed of coming back to Family and Mustangs.
Probably so. Family #1
They all speak like politicians. The basic idea came after extreme sphincter tightening when they saw the Ford Mustang.
This was back when adults, raised in the silent generation, were speaking properly and proficiently, like an episode of Mad Men.
@@JustForSneaksEnt that's because these people like on Mad Men, were reading from a script
"A complete car, equipped with everything you need for fun! Who could ask for anything more!!" Thnx for posting.
Far. Out. Mini skirts , mod clothes and far out style's made them sell
I think they just found this car, the gold one.
It was at the Woodward Dream Cruise a few years back. First Camaro.
@@tomhext1229I just watched the video.

A lot of these cars were definitely pre production prototypes. The plain jane gold car was the first production car built. It is still alive, and is now a museum display piece.
Right...that very first Canaro had a 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed manual transmission on the steering column. It was highly modified into a race car but subsequently restored back to factory stock with its original parts
Saw that one at the Woodward Dream Cruise a few years ago.
