Vindi finishes her CDSP UD-C with a 198 and first place
Vindi and I had a great time at the CDSP trial today. She earned her 3rd leg in CDSP Utility A, winning her class with a 198. She was bouncy and oh, so fun. She was sure of her job every step of the way - we had Flow! She's such a wonderful girl. At 10 yrs of age, she still wants to rock it!

Vindi and I entered our 3rd AKC Rally trial in the Excellent B class, and we earned her 3rd leg for her Rally Excellent title! This run felt pretty good overall - I love her lightning-fast responses to her Down out of Motion, and I LOVE her heeling in general. Her jumps and engagement felt great, too. Vindi is just the best! It was super hot and humid out, but we stuck together and did our thing. We earned 2nd place, just a half point behind 1st place. I really enjoyed Carol Mett as our judge at the Wachusett Kennel Club obedience trial on 5/21/22. What a FUN, FUN round I had with my best girl partner! I hadn't trained Vindi to do some of these Rally moves before trying them today, but it all worked out in the end. Did you see that jump? LOL! (Sorry Vin - I should have warned you about that and the "circle around me" moves! I taught those to Saju, not you!) This is one of my favorite times in the ring with Vindi - it was FUN!

What a dream run! Vindi and I earned a perfect score in our AKC Novice B debut at our obedience club's fall trial. That meant 200 pts, First Place, High in Trial, and High-Scoring Club Member. Total magic!

I wanted to see how Vindi would handle this particular venue (a 12,000 square foot ballroom). Two out of 4 rings were in use when I brought her in. It was a tough venue that challenged the dogs in earlier classes. When we came in (end of the day), 2 rings were in use, but still lots of people and dogs, noise, echoes, and pounding rain DRIPPING through the roof! Had to be careful not to wipe out...

Vindi’s very first foray into CDSP Novice. HIT!!! This is nothing like the feeling when you test something for the first time after working on the pieces for years. It came together so nicely - I am elated!

Vindi and I had a great round in AKC Rally Novice B today to finish our Rally Novice title. She is SO CUTE! We earned the title by completing three legs (rounds), perfect scores (100 pts) each time, and 1st place each time. just looking into CDSP as I'd not heard of this organization. Unfortunately doesn't seem to be available yet in Canada - we are entered in our first Obedience in March (Canadian Kennel Club) - have been doing Rally since July. This was another inspiration to watch! Thank you!

Beautiful to watch! I just started Rally and we've got our first leg from Novice and another 2 trials this weekend. I am 65 and my Malinois is an 11 year old female....it's such fun! Thank you for this encouraging video!
Thank you! Saju was ~10 yrs old when we did this trial. We were having the best time! He was a lot of dog, and also a lovely dog and best friend. Congratulations on your first Rally leg, and I wish you all the luck for your upcoming ones this weekend. It’s good to hear that your 11 year old girl still wants to work! P.S.: Make sure somebody videos you so that you can review it later. (And post it, if you like!) It’s always worth asking someone to do it.
@@shepherddogs an update! Bijoou finished her Novice with High in Class and we have trained the last 6 weeks for Advanced - our first two trial in Advance A is this coming weekend. Just watched your video again - it's my "inspiration"! Thank you and hope you have a great day!

@@shepherddogs Wanted to let you know that we had a great time! Bijoou and I scored 98 on Saturday and 99 on Sunday! She was High in Class both days (with other dogs actually in the Class - lol) One more leg and she has her Advance title, then on to Excellent. You are an inspiration - thank you!

Exceptional performance! That certainly was a hard marking judge! There was only one camera and I failed to see where your team lost 3.5 points. I was unable to see but at the conclusion of the heal on leash was Vindi's shoulder behind your left leg?
Thank you! I so love working with my little girl. :-) I honestly can’t remember where we lost some of those points. I know we did in the Heel Off leash when I slammed into the Slow too quickly and she thought we were going to stop/sit. She “curtsied” for a moment due to my error. I think we also had some slightly crooked fronts or finishes, I can’t remember. And yes, it is hard to tell from just one camera view. The judge is an awesome, very fair judge, who sees everything!
@@shepherddogs I truly enjoy watching experts like you work their dogs. Thank you for posting this leg of your Novice Trial. I have an intact Airedale with such low impulse control. He finally is able to perform all but one of the Novices exercises very well. Unfortunately, I still have been unable to obtain a reliable recall. I am working with long lines, leashes and flexi leads and practicing recalls at different locations. Experts, have told me it will take a long time to get a reliable recall with a long line, leash and flexi lead to obtain a reliable recall with a dog with low impulse control. A remote collar was recommended as a better training approach. Nevertheless, We are still training and I hope we will be able to earn our CD in Novice A sometime in the future.

I am totally blown away by that performance... Having said that, I recently rescued a 1-yr. old female Malinois. I'm currently working on her socialization and obedience. Many years ago, I achieved an OTCH on one of my German Shepherds, and she was a great performer... However, I would appreciate it if you could suggest where I may attend an obedience seminar that would help me to have my new girl focus like your dog does. Thank You, Mano Avila
Hi Mano - Thank you!!! And thanks for rescuing a Malinois girl. Also, congrats on that OTCH w/your GSD, too - what an achievement! For a place to learn about that focus - check out Denise Fenzi's online school fenzidogsportsacademy.com. Denise, Shade Whitesel, Petra Ford and Julie Flannery are some of the instructors to look for. They all have seminars from time to time to look for, too. Denise has 4 books (available on Amazon) on things like Focus, Play, and Engagement that are the best-written instructive items I've ever seen. Julie Flannery just released an excellent book on heeling, too. I have no financial interest in any of these people or that school, but I've learned from them all (and from others from years past. But these people are my current favorites.) If you live in New England, I can give you some local recommendations, too.

We work on our connection in training and life (lots of 2-way conversations), so we were able to pull that off. Not an advisable way to do things, though! I'm usually more prepared than that.
