Quick Change Shave Horse to Spoon Mule Conversion Upgrade
I've never found spoon mules to be very comfortable, so I've designed an upgrade for my shave horse design that still allows you to push your legs forward instead of out, while also clamping the work piece low like a spoon mule. It only takes a few seconds to switch between the shave horse and the spoon mule, so today I'm going to show you how I made it.

20V Dewalt Battery Rebuild - Upgrade for 1/2 Price

Forging a Marking Knife - Most Versatile Design

Today I’m forging a carpenter’s marking knife, and I think this design is the best you can get - it’s one solid piece of steel, the double bevel allows for easy marking on the left or right, the flat back lies flush against wood for the best accuracy, and of course the mark is super precise. Do you have a link for the cells you bought?

    • @GreenhillForge
      @GreenhillForge 13 дней назад

      They are Samsung 25R 18650 3.7V cells. 18650 is the size and shape. 3.7V is the nominal voltage. 25r is the Samsung model#, it has 2500mAh capacity and 20Amp rated continuous discharge. I'd use any high end make with those specs like Sony, Samsung, Panasonic. Prevailing wisdom is never buy cells from places like Amazon, Ebay, Aliexpress as they'll likely be fake. Stock at reputable cell suppliers seems come and go a lot and prices fluctuate so sometimes you have to search around but here's an example of the Samsungs www.cellsupply.co.uk/samsung-25r-18650-battery?srsltid=AfmBOoqAtA4meDGDRETDDjwCzX08SVIMyDhKZAdztR5mQKru2uj0zvYv

    Nice job mate, I’ll be making one of these, thanks for the build video. For future drilling of the handles, you may want to consider holding in the chuck and drilling on the lathe, before cutting to size and rounding the ends, might be easier/more accurate. Also like your hammer. Don’t see too many using a diagonal peen, but I prefer as I find it is less awkward to use than a straight peen. Keep up the good work!

      @GreenhillForge Месяц назад

      Thanks mate! Yeah, I need to get a chuck for my tailstock for drilling. I have collets that can work with it but none that fit the size drill I needed. I really like diagonal peens too, that's my main hammer.

    That was a great build mate. I particularly liked the use of the router bits for the joins, instead of trying to work angles. Will give this a try, but will need to use pine as we don’t have your timbers here. Thanks for posting this. Cheers

    • @GreenhillForge
      @GreenhillForge Месяц назад

      Thanks mate, it's a fun build. If you go with pine you could try Shou Sugi Ban, the Japanese method of burning/torching the wood to increase rot resistance. Could be a a fun addition and the barrel would look amazing!

    Thank you, I was wanting to buy one at Christmas but the prices for them was more than I was willing to pay, the cheapest was $269 AUD I understand someone had to do the work to make them but to me that was way too much, I might of considered if it had been 1/3 of the price or even half of the price. I had a fair idea on how to make it in the first place, but after watching you I know I can make it out of the cedar off cuts that I have just have to glue some if the blocks together first. As my hangs of yarn are double to triple the size I will have to look at making mine to have room for a huge cake size. I wanted to make mine so that I could place the toilet roll tube onto the spindle so that I can make for running multiple yarns off a colour wheel for fair isle knitting.
