As a Dewsbury fan, he is my hero. I saw Dewsbury best Wigan at Central Park (the only time for me) and in the clubhouse afterwards, he came and chatted with us (he had retired some time before) for a good while. Did I shake his hand? He offered and I willingly accepted. I can see his smile now.
what a great moment for you, fantastic memories. Billy is a true gentleman. thanks for your comment, very much appreciated
Thanks for your comment, what a fantastic moment and a memory created by the great man. thanks for sharing that great memory with us.
Wonderful player , hugely underrated. Nice to see him looking so well.
The best referee I ever had (listening to BB about refs) was when I played a Wigan amateur team. I'd been badly fouled in the first half and the ref defused the situation very quickly. Their player forgot about the incident and I hadn't and, in the second half, he ran into a 'haymaker', the ref immediately said 'Right, now your even, that's the end of it'.
Thank you for your comment, and I guess that’s a fair result. I’m guessing you both left it at that shook hands at the end and had a drink together in the clubhouse after
I know....I think I know.......
Yes we know you know David 🤣🤣
@@thedockhouserugbyshow1271 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loved him! I had three particular heroes in the 70s, and they were Billy Benyon, Tony Karalius , and George Nicholls. I still remember as a 15-year-old being at the game in November 73 when Saints through injuries had half a team out against the Australian test team. Billy was absolutely brilliant that night and created a try for Frank Wilson in our 11 -7 win. Should’ve had so many more caps; a much better centre than Sid Hynes in my opinion.
Those are some great memories, glad you liked the episode, George Nicholls speaks on our Legends of League Documentary Ep1 Harry Pinner, if you haven't already seen it, please check it out. thank you for your comments we really appreciate them
Professional to the Core. Billy Benyon! Classy centre who, when I watched, always seemed to be the 'cleanest' player on the pitch. Maybe I just didn't see what he did. Now that's a clever player.
Yes I do
Brilliant.
Thanks for watching and for your comments Joe, we really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the episode 👍🏽👍🏽
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great quote
We agree, it’s what you sign up for. It’s not tiddlywinks is it.
What a man, so many medals and experiences in RL, but almost a super star football/soccer player!!!
1 of my favorite players of all time
Thank you for your comments 👍🏽

Amazing Video, great memories, I was 9 at Wembley in 1976 and Harry was my all time favourite player ♥️🤍

Glad you enjoyed it ❤ Harry is a top bloke
We hope you enjoyed our first ever legends of league episode. Big thanks to Harry &his family for allowing us into their lives over the last 8months. We hope you enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed making it
Great work mate 👏👏👏👏🎓🎓🎓🎓🎓
Great vid. Great seeing Mal in English Rugby League.
Yea Mal was a formidable force in English RL

Fantastic work Keith. Lots of effort and time went into this from Keith and others. The guests were great sharing their valuable time and we enjoyed their company. Well done and looking forward to the next one already 👍

Great team
Definately one of the the best wingers ever, and one of my favourite all time players. Faster than many gave him credit for, great fend, elusive for a big man, and a genuine nice quiet bloke by all accounts.
Thanks for your comment
grothe/boustead were the best wing combination i've ever seen.
Did you watch them play live ?
10 years and he knew nothing about rugby
bloody hell doesnt look anything like Elton Welsby
he is a tad older than his TV days. but I get what you say.
I've had funnier shits than this.
How many times have you seen anyone hand off three Aussies to score a test try? Not often.
That’s why he is in our legends series

My Dad a dinki di Aussie rated Billy one of the best wingers he ever saw
Given other bans and fines that were given out over the first round I think he got off very lightly
But technically it’s his first offence
Pleasure to have shared the commentary box with Allan on a number of occasions.
Any good stories for us
He ended up getting three weeks for that.
Do you think that was fair ?
@@thedockhouserugbyshow1271 I thought he may have got more. The punishments in the Super League are usually a bit harsher than the NRL.
The game has changed, I didn’t think there was much wrong with it, it’s a contact sport, get on with it or play bowls
Yeah, who cares about players brains getting turned to spaghetti
It’s rugby not boxing mate
"You dickhead" 😂
Hahaha, I was watching this and thought of that commentary straight away. 😂

Not soing too bad considering the ten point deduction, will it be overturned?
The Birth of the Dockhouse Rugby Show.
Not quite the birth, @RugbyLeagueHistory. Though this was in the new studio, the DHRS was born when we interviewed LMS & then Alex Walmsley on the then Dockhouse podcast, then we took the rugby show as its own segment. And both Dave and myself began with just the two of us talking about rugby league, if I am correct our first guest as the DHRS was former referee Ian Smith.
Who else remembers Nurse Duffy?
What is everyone’s favourite Harry Pinner memory

The full Documentary is out now on our RUclips channel
Thanks for the edit Keith, great work as always
Glad you enjoyed it
Please give it a thumbs up if you enjoy, great to give Harry the support he deserves after years of service to the sport.
For those who aren't old enough to remember Harry he was the best ball playing loose forward I've seen. He had the vision to pick the right pass and made runners look like super stars as he put them through gaps. Sadly not as many games were recorded pre SL but his memory loves on in the fans who watched him and through shows such as this. We hope you enjoy
Absolute beast of a winger, had brains ,speed and one of the best cover tacklers ever! It's a shame he suffered so many injuries thru out is career. 8 times playing for Australia really do not do him justice.
Thank you for your comments, much appreciated
That’s why he is in our league legends series

Was a pleasure to have Brendan on the show. A great guy, and I’m sure he will be back on again with us.
What are the viewers thoughts on internationals?

Do you think we will ever see a GB vs Aus series
My claim to fame isn’t a playing RL one but rather that the late great Colin Dixon served me my very first legal pint of ale in Halifax 👏😂
