    Wil. Great video. I have this lens with my M11-P. However, when I turn the focus ring to infinity, I find that it is not sharp and I'd have to make some micro adjustments. is this an issue you've noticed? I am not sure if it is chromatic aberration? focus past infinity? or simply a faulty lens. I have not been able to find much on this. Cheers.

    • @WILMORENO
      @WILMORENO 16 дней назад

      Hey! Thanks for your comment. I haven't had this lens in a long time as I moved to the hasselblad x2d last year. But one thing I learned with mf lenses is that the infinity hard stop was always too far. If you look at the distance chart on your lens make it to where infinity is just at the end of your selected f-stop. Like f11 is probably 1 meter to infinity. Instead of making the infinity symbol dead center. You can google "hyperfocal distance" that should help as well. I learned this the hard way at the grand canyon, I'd just slam my lens all the way to infinity hard stop. When I got home I noticed so many pictures were soft. Oh well, always learning. Thank you for the kind comment and enjoy your camera in good health! -WM

      @@1967McQ I used the zoom for a long time, optically incredible. It's heavy, but pretty much all you'd need. I took it to hawaii and got some of my best landscaped ever. After hiking with it for 13 miles, I sold it for something lighter. My back is still cranky from that hike. I shoot a lot of portraits and that 4.5 wasn't enough light or bokeh for so much of what I was trying to do. Sometimes separating your subject from the background is a nice option. I had the 38 for a spell, took it around my city to do some snap shots. Too many times I wanted something wider. I think the 65 and either 30, 28 or 25 would be a stellar combo. I've been waiting on the 25 to be in stock for months. Also from corner to corner; the 30 is probably the sharpest of the three. However it doesn't focus very close if that matters to you. For the wide angle lens. It's pretty much down to your biggest priority. If you want compact get the 28, fastest aperture and close focus 25, or over all image quality 30. Good luck with your search. The leica felt great in my hand, but the x2d feels even better. Plus, much bigger screen

      I can do a quick review right here, if you're talking about the X1D Mark II. I like the feel of the X1D body better, but the lenses seem to focus slower on that body. Also the flip screen and image stabilization has been a huge help on the newer model. If you're just doing landscapes/still life you could probably save a lot and get the X1D Mark II. If the X2D is in your budget, I'd just get that and start torturing myself over lens options.

      @@WILMORENO last question. What about colour science and image quality difference?

    • @WILMORENO
      @WILMORENO 24 дня назад

      @@ozzozz3529 color science is the same, image quality is right on par as well. Of course you get more cropping room with 100 megapixels. But with in body image stabilization, you stand the chance to get more keeper images handheld. Also the X2D has PDAF which works slightly better with the new lenses. There’s rumors of a continuous autofocus firmware update. If that is a new firmware update, the new lenses will be pretty nice to have. Also I forgot to mention, the face tracking on X2D is incredibly nice. It’s not a feature the X1DII has. So if you like to shoot portraits, just get the x2d. From all im seeing, the older XCD lenses have a tendency for better image quality, especially at the edges of the frame. It’s the price you pay for a smaller, lighter lens. I’ve tried the 35-75 28, 38, 55, 65, 80 & 120. While not doing any scientific tests. I did find that I always preferred the older xcd lenses image quality. But I almost broke my back carrying that zoom around Hawaii lol. It’s splitting hairs, but if you want the absolute best image quality I think the X2D with the older lenses is the way to go. But either camera with any of these Hasselblad lenses will give you great results. It’s just about that extra 5-10% Currently I’ve gotten rid of all my lenses except the 65. It focuses as fast as the new lenses from what I remember. In my own opinion the 65 and zoom renders the best quality images from everything I’ve tested. I’m going to test the 30 out next, I believe that could be my kit. The 65 and 30. Also interested in that 25 but I got a feeling the 30 is the way to go. Good luck! -WM

    Hasselblad lenses are manufactured by Fuji so I think it's not a coating problem for the colors, but the software. Landscape looks very realistic on my Fuji GFX 100 II, but skintones are better on the Hasselblad without tuning. Maybe they use the DJI technology. I heard from a lot of camerashops that there are a lot of problems with the Hasselblad camera's. It's not the real Hasselblad anymore. Also the service was not good. So I keep my old 501 CM and the Fuji 100II

      I had 5 total x2d bodies, 2 were perfect. I think they've fixed a lot of issues now. I'd like to take some credit for the quality control, by calling out everything I didn't like. Also I think Hasselblad won't be sending me any units for review because I was a little too honest. RIP my wallet. It's kind of hard to tell right now, it seems hasselblad is listening and trying to fix issues. I just wish their lenses were in stock more often. It's like Rolex. you can buy your favorite model from a reseller, with a hefty markup. No thanks. I used lightroom for both m gfx and x2d. Way way happier with the x2d files. Fuji camera is fine but if you're a perfectionist like me, the x2d creates less headache. in my opinion. the 500 series cameras are great, I'm saving up for xcd lenses, otherwise i'd be shooting film too. thanks for your comment

      @@WILMORENO Oh yeah man that's 100% your problem, Adobe and Fuji have never played well together. Fuji partners with Capture One and all of the film sims are inside capture one as well as Capture One's Pro Standard profile that they manually create for each camera which IMO is some of the best color you can get out of any camera especially on the GFX files. Adobe is cheap and refuses to work with brands so they keep things proprietary. No one even the camera manufacturers know what happens under the hood of Adobe's raw processing. Adobe just guesses at their profiles which ends up being a complete mess. Not to mention Adobe's raw processing is extremely outdated. It would be too much work to overhaul it since it's integrated into so many things so they haven't fundamentally changed it for years. Unfortunately there's still some bad blood between Capture One and Hasselblad because Capture One used to be owned by Phase One which was one of Hasselblad's main competitors. That's okay with me though because Hasselblad is about done. DJI has driven them into the ground. It's not the same company it was before the acquisition. Most of the pros that were shooting with the H6 have left and their customer service and support is now horrible. I was always thinking my end game would be Hasselblad but DJI ruined that which is super sad. Fuji is a much better company that actually stands behind their products.

      @@WILMORENO Who knows, A lot of people speculate that DJI just bought Hasselblad for some of their lens patents they wanted to use for their inspire drones and don't really care about continuing making cameras. They really screwed over H6D-50C owners because they refuse to do a new run of the 50C backs and they have a high failure rate. So lots of photographers have expensive bricks now. I've also heard wild rumors that DJI is planning on using the Hasselblad brand to enter the full frame market and compete with Sony but with as much as they have been neglecting support of current products I don't see that being the case. Hopefully you don't have any issues with your X2D, I've heard repairs have a 6+ month turnaround and people get their cameras back still broken.

The hike definitely hurt my back but I believe it was mostly from a poor fitting backpack. Anytime I traveled with primes, I always felt like I had the wrong lens on the camera. So I'd spent a lot of time swapping/second guessing. And I really don't want to expose this giant sensor to the elements. I had the 38 and 55. The 55 looked so good on the camera, and the 38 would be my go to lens if just 1 prime. But sometimes I needed just a little more in the frame. The zoom is really a hell of a lens.

    I am Fuji all the way, in the end all the images are edited. If people think the color is better, go ahead and pay more. 😅

    This is beautiful, Wil. And I feel for you - dogs are the best of us. That statement by Chief Crowfoot is powerful - I just shared it with my kids. You helped inspire me to buy the X2D, which I did a few weeks ago (love it). Your shots are are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks, mate. PS. That little guy at the end is adorable! New member of the family...?

      Thank you very much for the kind words & compliment. Congrats on your new X2D, enjoy it in good health. My pups name is Luna, she's 9 years old now. But, at 2.2kgs I still consider her a puppy. They really are the best of us. Thank you again for the thoughtful comment.

      I did switch to Fuji once that hfx100ii was announced. Then went right back to hb. Ive got a video "gfx100ii vs x2d" going into details. Fuji looks good on paper, HB wins in image quality. And that's what matters most to me. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment

    Thanks for the great comparison! For me, it was a very useful point of view. Question, have you been able to assess the new firmware of the X2D, especially for autofocus?

      Thank you for your comment. Im currently using the 35-75 and have no real issues w.autofocus. The only bummer about the live view is that you can't use the self timer. So, no selfies unless you want to be holding your phone/ipad in the picture. I had trouble with the 80 1.9 af in the past. I need to get my hands on a portrait lens soon so I can have a solid stance. Thanks again!

    Insane, the Fuji colors are phenomenal. RAW files are easy to get amazing results. Maybe it’s your choice of software or knowledge of it. You admit you don’t like post. You don’t seem willing to learn this skill, but that doesn’t even take time. I have presets with Alienskin Exposure 7 for the GFX and it’s simply gorgeous. I do custom grading using a film LUT app as well, the camera blows minds. They also use the same sensor and while there will be differences what you’re aiming is purely absurd. I am picking up the 907x 100c, got nothing against Hasselblad, but this is just a silly conclusion. The people echoing it are just advertising their ignorance on how to do basic post. And that says nothing of the SOOC JPEGs Fuji offers.

      I got my degree in flexography in 2007. I was running printing presses and using a spectrodensitometer back then. In this video I mention color calibrating my fuji sensor with 2 different professional tools... Lastly, I bought alien skin exposure back in 2013.

      it's absolutely incredible for landscapes. in my opinion there's no better landscape camera at the moment. working on a video about that now. Nice comparison. I’ve been using the GFX100 since its release five years ago. 32-64 is my walk around lens (even over the 45), and the 110 is an entire reason to shoot GFX. I wish there were GF adapters for the hassy

    I am thinking to get latest GFX with 45-100 (as you said boring lens). And I think you are probably right. But to get it and understand it I need to go through all the way and probably set myself to Hasselblad. Can you please tell did you try to play Fuji colors with Capture One or it was a Lightroom? I have heard many times Capture One brings Fuji colors to life. Thanks for video

    • @WILMORENO
      @WILMORENO 5 месяцев назад

      Hey thanks for your question. I didnt use capture one. Ill say that after calibrating the sensor with the passport color checker. The calibrated sensor profile yielded much better results in LR. But my grand canyon stuff was still way below standards, even with the sensor calibration. Just got back from Hawaii with the x2d. Its insane how much better of a perfomer the x2d is when it comes to image quality. These images are my favorites after 30 years of photography. Working on that video now.

      @@WILMORENO thank you for reply. I set myself to GFX100II because of eye tracking. It works really fine. Not so good as R5 of cause, but decent. For landscapes I think I would go for Hasselblad too because of colors

    So I’m a GFX user for 5 years, I know the color thing going on and it affects me, but for the rest I’m quite happy with it. My question to you is what software are you using to process these two systems? I use camera raw, some people use Capture One which nails the color better than CR. But Hasselblad has Pocus which is great for colors but doesn’t work for anything else so you have to go through two different software to get things done.

    • @yogi4fitness
      @yogi4fitness Месяц назад

      That's the thing about Hasselblads that even tho the process of taking pics is simpler the post is more complex. Also the newer XCD lenses are essentially full frame lenses adapted to MF sensor. Horrible vignetting that sacrifices corner dynamic range. GF glass is big and ugly but it's a league above the new XCD glass so when someone talks about better IQ from the Hasselblad I SMH. And then you ask them what is this X factor they talk about, they struggle to explain it. Talk about the Halo effect.
