General rule for boys: don't ascribe to malice what is more likely stupidity. A guy thinks "Oh, this will be funny," and puts his foot in his mouth. And then once having done so, he doesn't know how to sincerely take responsibility like a man. At best, some day he'll look back at the incident and be embarrassed. Another thing to think about: adolescent boys often have particular difficulty dealing with very pretty girls. Rather than go through the trouble of approaching and talking to them in a nice way, they'll get frustrated by their own hesitation and do something hostile to express their anxiety. Crazy, but true. The old cliche was the boy who pulls the girl's braids or pony tail. And of course, boys being less mature than girls at that age, they have the most difficulty dealing with girls their own age. Makes no sense, does it? It's a wonder how we ever end up getting married.
