@@Jaap-Relou kick pad is just a pad with a trigger. Plug it into any input and it will work fine then just select the sound that you wish to use with it. There are two modules in this set up and I used all the inputs as well as split all of the toms so I could add an extra cymbal for every tom that there was. Thanks!

Gday bud! Is it a stock 2box snare sample ur using or other? I’ve found the stock snare samples that actually have a rim click work fine, but nothing else has worked for me. I never use a rim click sound so it’s never bothered me but once I had to assign a rim click to a Tom rim and used that instead.

2box make the best ekits in my opinion. Roland have some cool elements and innovations but have never sounded as real as 2box kits to me. They were always more affordable and they gave us the ability to control our samples. As far as sample sets go, there’s some amazing sounds out there. Superior drummer, addictive drums etc. Best feel would include real cymbals and real rims on drums, not rubber, and heads that don’t bounce as much as mesh. But I can live with that stuff. @@danandlea1 That's hard to say, Danny's work is all so satisfying to me. I'd love to see Lateralus or Ticks & Leeches, but one I haven't seen a cover for is Triad, which might not be quite as complex as the other two. I found a second-hand kit of the drumit five with an extra tom, but I've yet to buy. What do you think would be a fair price range for it, would it be insulting to haggle down from 1k€? :D Hard to find any data on prices since they don't seem to be sold anywhere anymore, but seeing your video has made me rather confident that I want the orange beast.

@@Xenrel Ok. I’ll have a listen. 1000 euros is a reasonable price with an extra Tom. The module alone often goes for 500 euros. But the economy isn’t great so maybe u could make an offer. It’s still a beast to this day. Worth every cent. Stay cool!

I used a snare stand at first, but they aren’t all big enough. Now I’m using a standard 2box Tom mount. But the extension that has the uniball in it faces upwards, vertically, and the hex bar slides in horizontally, but because it has a 90 degree bend, the part the pad connects to is vertical. It wobbles less when u play it if u do this IMO. Use same settings as ur kick but play around with pad settings to find what u like. My settings are type PADPP, gain 8, thresh -40 curve NORM. Mask off. Pleasure!

Hi. I change them around a bit but currently set to Type AcTr2, xtalk off, gain 10, thresh -44, curve POS 1, mask off. Enjoy the snare! Get some extra rubber rim covers as u will go thru them. They split over time where u rimshot the snare. Stay cool!

@@danandlea1 my kit has 2 extra tom pads and same quantity of cymbals of yours but also I have one Alesis strike pro, Roland TD27 and Td11 drum modules which I’ve switching while I’m playing and every time when I turn on my drumit 3, I completely forget about them. Tomorrow I’m about to get the classic orange drumit 5 mk1 drum kit same as yours and guess what? The guy who I’ll buy the drum kit made the same upgrade which you did show here in your channel how to upgrade the memory storage. I’m kind of super excited!! Congratulations brother! I love your videos! Keeping posting more drum stuff please!

@@danandlea1 man, quickly report. I’m still have the other drum modules because I tried everything to set up my hi hats with the drumit 3 but I couldn’t. Everytime the hh sounds open. I even don’t get the foot splash sounds. I watched many tutorials on RUclips and also I did read the manual many times. Maybe it’s my drum module problem.

Gday Ron, thanks very much bud! The heads in this vid are from 682Drums. They are a mix of black single and double ply mesh. Nice heads. Now I'm playing the white 3 ply mesh. Feels more realistic to me, less bounce. Google 682Drums and u will easily find them. Best of luck with it man! Stay cool

Thanks man. Think I saw a fb post of urs. Same story. Yea I've never needed a 3 way ride. I get the 3 sounds from 2 triggers and that's been ok for me. Having the real samples of cymbals like 2box does, versus the digital creations most Roland modules have has also been great as nothing sounds more real than a real cymbal. Ive had td3, td6, td10, td20. Played the newer kits too. For the money, these are the best. And they're old too lol. I nearly sold mine too, before I worked it all out, so glad I didn't. Happy to help if ur stuck. Good luck with it. Read the manual twice lol. Watch all the YT vids u can. Sign up at the unofficial 2box forum and read a few threads. It all helps. Take care!

I have it all routed out the 8 outputs of the module into an 8 in thunderbolt audio interface. I never amplify the kit as such I.e. play it through speakers, apart from my monitors of course. All my new vids are done through the Mac and a pair of monitors. I'm sure u could amplify them easily through any good PA system though, or a strong combo amp.

Congrats on the di3 purchase. Exciting! Yes the OS is on the original card. Yes transfer data from orig card to pc, then from pc to new card. But u don't have to do it before u do the mod. Yes the usb function won't work after the mod but the way u transfer data once its done is by simply removing the card from the di3 and insert it into an sd card reader that's connected to ur pc. They are super cheap. Mine was $5 on ebay, sd to usb 2. Make whatever changes u like on the pc, including OS updates and new sounds etc, then put the card back into the di5 and turn it on. That's it. Regarding recording the module, run cables from the outputs on the module to the inputs of your recorder (audio interface, hd recorder, or whatever u have). U can either use the main outputs (1+2) or u can custom route them out of all 8 outputs like i do now, into an 8 channel audio interface for better control in post. I'd goto the 2box site today, download the di3 manual and understand it all before it arrives. Also goto the unofficial 2box forum and read some relevant threads from others. The brains trust there is mind blowing. Some absolutely generous experts. Thats where I go when I need help. Stay cool!

I did an A2E conversion, & the module I have now, a DM10 MKII I just use to trigger Superior Drummer by MIDI, which is great & all, but having to use a laptop all the time because the internal sounds are horrible is not really any fun. I’ll end up putting my Toontrack stuff in the 2BOX for sure.

Top question! U know what? I don't know as I've never experimented with that. I'm super aware of the issue though. Bugged me too, a lot. I didn't realise what was happening specifically. Thought getting the Jobeky might have solved it, but no. I'm going to play around with this over the next week or so and get back to u on that. I hope there's a way, if not might need to hit 2Box up for a new DI5 haha.

@@danandlea1 Definitely check out the newest OS update. Drone Trigger Systems (ruclips.net/video/350CZHggDOk/видео.html) is someone i HIGHLY respect in the edrum community. And in one video, he states "Old 2box updates Kicks ass" And if he says so, then it does. This guy knows his onions!

@@steevidrums OK. Awesome. Just had a look. That's fantastic! Great trigger design by the looks, offset but all around the drum. Great idea. Damn, he's got the chops too!! Just read the manual for os1.3 and it says there's 5 new (old now) trigger types. 2 of those are XPad (for head) and XRim. This setting works only for a stereo pad (der) and offers a "crosstalk depress" function to reduce crosstalk between head and rim. It says the XTALK function is different as its global, for crosstalk between all pads. Now, this might reduce crosstalk but surely won't remove the head centre sound entirely from a rimshot. If that's what u mean? OS 1.36 goes on to add X-TRG which can "ELIMINATE or minimise crosstalk between head/rim channels" and X-ADJ which is same but adjustable. So it appears there have been several advancements in that area over time. Now adjusting my settings in 1.30.3 to XPAD/XRIM it seems quite good but I'll need some time to test more.

Ha. Wow. Thanks Stephen. This video was posted/shared once by the 2Box Australia group on fb. They were also acknowledging the realism of some of the kits within. Ive been working on the patches and trigger settings for years lol. It never ends though, always evolving in some small way. I have so many sounds I haven't even looked at yet. Got some amazing sample sets from the great Jman before he sadly passed away (RIP). Some of those sounds are in this video. Life is a gift man. As is the original Drumit 5!! Stay cool. @@danandlea1 Hey man, keep flying the flag for 2box. With the market saturated with lots of great modules and systems, they can do with all the user input that they can get. Hell, they're not very good at marketing themselves. Which baffles me. But I defy anyone to not be impressed with how awesome these kit sound. I can tell from how you play, it doesn't just sound great but plays great too. Love the Black mofif too. If the only offered that as a finish, I really think they'd have done better. I think that they made en error making the rims plastic too, especially when the rest of the pads were so solid.

Fyi, I use a Mimic pro/Jobeky with Drone trigger systems with my gigging kit. And a load of Yamaha XP pads with PCY cymbals triggered by a Edrumin10/4 and a Mac with SSD5.5... and this is very much up there with the sound.

@@steevidrums yea I'm a loud n proud 2Box guy. I'd fly a flag if I had one lol. I was also shocked at how little promotional material was around from 2Box regarding this kit when it came out. Think I saw 1 ad in a magazine once. The word spread anyway, but slowly. The UI was a bit challenging too so many didn't get to realise their full potential, but some did. Interestingly, I did a marketing assignment on 2Box and the Drumit 5. I'm not kidding! Because I was always wondering why they weren't marketed better, or more. I'm sure there are great reasons. Also agree regarding the rims, or floating rims as they are called. Ive had to repair and rebuild quite a few of them. Regluing the black rubber strips on top and bottom of the rim. Did one a week ago. And the rubber o rings, the earlier pads only have 3 of them, newer pads have 5. Much better but there's got to be a better way these days. I haven't played any of the new line yet (di3 and di5mk2) or pads and cymbals. They look ok, but a little cheap, at a glance. I'd like real shells with triggers, like u have! One day for me maybe! Yea I like the black too, but I'm interested to see what the black heads look like on it. Will do that soon and upload something for u to see.

@@danandlea1 Thank you for the reply! I used to have couple of 2box modules a few years ago, but had to sell thanks to a big Tax bill and massive van repair. And while I have set-up that I am super happy with, I do miss the 2box set up I had, the freedom of loading any multi samples you'd wish is an amazing feature.

Yes. A while back folks were playing with metric modulation with this song. Don't quote me but I saw someone explain it as the original is 12/8, now changed to 6/4 for this challenge. I don't completely understand it, but love the feel of it. I played the original groove in some sections as well. Stay cool!

To get one the same, look for second hand kits. This exact kit is not made any more technically, but a newer version of the module (2box drumit 5 mk2) is available online everywhere. U can also order them as kits in some stores. Just search for 2box drumit 5 on ebay, reverb, gumtree, Craig's list etc. U should be able to find one pretty quickly. I see about 4 a year sell where I am. Maybe more. Good luck!!

It was 8 toms on some presets and 7 on others if I used one as a 2nd snare. There are 3 floor toms but they often dont all fit in the shot. Its just 2 kits put together. Got them at good prices 2nd hand so not as expensive as u think. Super fun though. Thanks man. Stay cool
