    cool! what is das mean in VIM? thank you

    • @amyjuanli
      @amyjuanli Год назад

      It's plain English - "delete a sentence." If you want to dive into detail, you could simply type ":help text-objects" inside VIM editor to find the detailed explanation and examples. For example, you can find "dis" which means "delete an inner sentence, while "das" means "delete a sentence". For any VIM command, once you put it into practise by using them at your work, then you can easily understand any new command combination's usage without looking into the document because it's just English. I hope I have answered your question. And thanks a lot for watching my video.☺

    You're causing some confusion with this video as some believe you can define tags within other fields of the frontmatter outside of `tags:`. In addition using the syntax of `[" #content/video #content/blog "]` does indeed give you some autocompletion, but you're also causing issues as the `tags` field is not properly defined on the javascript side, and most likely will break a lot of existing queries.

      Thanks for your input. Yes, it does cause some confusion, although I tried to make it clear in the video. Thanks a lot for your nice feedback. I'm planning on making a video about Obsidian search and I will try to clarify how to define and use the tags in search.

    Thanks Amy, i am following your tutorial and i have --- Year: " #-2020 " --- This returns #-2020 as result but not in a tag form just psudo text, not sure what i have missed

    • @amyjuanli
      @amyjuanli Год назад

      If the #-2020 is the tag you first use/create in Obsidian, then you need to write it this way in order to have it as a tag form: --- tag: "-2020" Year: " #-2020" --- For any tag which is not shown in the tag panel, it indicates that you need first to create this tag. It won't take you long to wrap your head around this.

      And why did I put a double quote around the -2020 tag: "-2020", instead of just tag: -2020, is because Obsidian only recognizes the strings as valid tags. So, I put "" around the number.

      @@amyjuanli Thanks Amy, yes the tag was already created and i just copy your code and replaced mine, it still returns text instead of tag

      @@amyjuanli I also tried your code as following. the first line returns a tag, second line returns a text --- Tags: status/finished Year: " #status/finished " ---

    • @amyjuanli
      @amyjuanli Год назад

      @@jiaoyizhidao Sorry, my bad. I misunderstood your question in the first place. And YES, the second line should return a text, not a tag. Only tags added after "tags:" can be shown as tags. And the reason I reuse tags for other metadata (Year, in your case) is that it's easy to automate values that I use quite often such as "#status/xx". Otherwise, I have to manually type the values for all of my notes. Sometimes, misspellings or using inconsistent words such as "status/finished", "finished", "done", "complete", etc. Do you get what I mean? When you start using Dataview, you could easily show the "#status/xx" inside the column such as Status.

    Thank you very much. I'm trying to learn how to use Obsidian as a second brain to learn scripting/programming languages. Having my own templates makes setting up my knowledge vault so much easier. I probably should start my journey with markdown, lol.

      You're very welcome! And I believe you will get used to markdown-based note-taking app like Obsidian. The big reason for me, personally, to work with Obsidian is also due to its friendly/useful functionality to programmers.

      I'm loving markdown. My friend started me with Notion, but I think I'm in love with Obsidian. I now have my scripting lessons template all finished! I use Admonitions to make fancy callouts for notes, example scripts from the lesson, references to other lessons, and a summary of the lesson. Then I have embedded video tutorials, so I can learn without even leaving Obsidian! I'm using a CSS snippet to hide my YAML and instead display it at the bottom with Dataview. All that and I feel I've barely scratched the surface of this wonderful application. I'm always on the lookout for Obsidian tutorials now, and I'll definitely be checking out your other Obsidian videos soon. I want to use it to learn HTML, CSS, Markdown, Javascript, and a little bit of Bash.

      @@PinkyZKey You have already tried many practical stuff using Obsidian. That's awesome! If you never use Markdown before, you could simply pick up the basics, and start writing notes. As time passes by, probably a couple days or so, you will see you have already get used to with Markdown editor. Regarding HTML, CSS JS etc., it's very nice to start learn the basic but essential web techniques. It reminds my study experience as a self-taught programmer back to three years ago. I believe you will enjoy your study experience and your journey to becoming a professional web developer. Even you're not aiming for a developer job, but the web dev skills will benefit you a lot when you want to start your own online business, or something else. ☺ Sorry, if I talk too much in here.... Best!

      I plan on starting basic with markdown, but later really learn it. So far, Markdown has been really fun to work with. It's very simple on the surface, but gets much more complex later on. I would like to move into web development, as well as some UI/UX for mobile applications. I have to start slow, though and really learn the basics. CSS caught my interest when I started using it to customize my Firefox and even give RUclips a dark search suggestions box. I became so interested that I really wanted to learn how webpages function. I've always loved anything to do with user interface and gui. Thank you again! (And I talk a lot, too).

      @@PinkyZKey It's great to experiment with some live websites with your web dev skills, which definitely provides you amazing insights about what you can manipulate a real website. Also, try play with Chrome Dev Tool for your javascript skills. You could debug your js code or the js code from any live website by setting breakpoints. Chrome Dev Tool is extremely useful for a professional web developer. You need it to debug your code as well as testing some quick changes to your code like js, html, or css. I can go on and on. ... 😅 but I think I should stop here as I need to do something else now... but I do have a good chat with you today. Cheers
