Whatever you do, never give up your day job. This is the worst actuator gear change video I have ever seen, you did the job half-cocked, made loads of mistakes, didn't even grease the cogs and shaft. As for removing the cog case, well the word retarded comes to mind. I'd be surprised if that amiture repair lasted a winter. @guythatmakescrap more like.

There is a way to replace this sensor from under the car without having to remove the intake. Took me about 3 hours on my 08 x3 since i had to figure out how to get to it and it is hard to get to but it is possible if you dont want to remove all that. The sensor is under the starter so it is recommended to disconnect the battery that way you dont fry the computer accidentally.

I cannot see the car, so I'm guessing a little here ... ... IF , ... the attachment point on the car is higher off the ground than the tractor; then tension on the chain may actually lifting the rear end of the tractor off the ground enough to break traction and spin the tires. The tires shouldn't spin thT easily... ... the motor should drag down under load or the belt slip. AND ... you shouldn't normally be able to rock the rear end that violently with such little effort. Thats MY guess !

Hi, my 2005 X3 2.5L has the 4x4, EML and ABS light come up when i accelerate too much, at around 3000 RPM and more. I had an estimated bill of 2000$ at BMW. I took the gear out myself and it has tiny signs of worn out. I’ll put in the new gear that I bought on amazon today for 20$ and will let you know if it fixed the problem.

Can I unscrew the entire cross-bar? I’m confused, yours look all the way loose, but u said u only loosened one side

Hello, at 12:30 you're removing the wire connector from the crankshaft sensor. What is that wire connector called? Mine is messed up it split and opened up. Would I have to buy a complete new wiring harness for everything or I can just purchase that wire connecting to the sensor alone? Thank you.

My bmw f30 complaints about both camshaft sensors being bad, including actuator, and you crank it and when it starts it dies off right away. What could it be? I changed both camshaft sensors and still nothing. Then I tried cleaning both vanos and still nothing, except this time it would take longer to start. I'm clueless at this point

I have replaced my worn Gear Box Transfer Case Servo Actuator Motor with a new gear. The problem is gone. However, after driving for some time the 4x4 and abs lights come on (except for brake as in before) and the fan of the engine starts to cool it even though engine temperature is fine. There is no cracling sound when I turn off the engine as it did before replacement. What could still be the issue?

Changed gear..worked for 2 weeks...Problem came back so I just bought a new servo motor actuator...Lights still on! WTF!?!?

Just buy the stupid actuator wheel from ebay! Buy aluminum or brass wheel, install it and BE DONE with this type of shit for life! I got an aluminum one for $29 off ebay and since I installed it it works like a charm. Thank me later

I was told I had a faulty transfer case servo motor and the error codes were 5461 and 5F3A and the charge was going to be $2500 do I really need to do this

Service manual says you have to take out carbs 1st. That part of the air box stay in. If you want to remove it,(to switch to pod filters- like I just did) it’s impossible-unless you do it after the carbs outta the way.

Hi guy, I’m from France and I watching your video. I’m 330i e90 owner (n52b30a engine) and I have start problems. I looked with Reinhgold/ Inpa and Ista and I think the crankshaft sensor is in default. I will to change him next week but it’s not easy, I think you have a little more place in your x3 for to move intake...there is a lot differents connectors around the intake.. If you have advice for me.. Thank you so much for your help Tom

Stupid part has to be made out of plastic? I got real lucky was able to do it on the lift and it took about an hour not a bad job. Thank you guys so much for posting this video
