Hi Waldo! I don't know if you're still around on RUclips but I wanted to thank you for your videos. I'm a hiker at heart but I'm disabled and I can't travel or hike the beautiful places I want to see, and your videos make me feel like I'm there. Thank you so much for bringing me along on your CDT hike. Full compliment: you're a beast with no fear and I loved watching your journey.

If you follow down stony pass you’ll see the rio grande reservoir. Just above the lake, their are 5-10 BLM permitted cabins built 1950s. Lucky enough to have spent a lot of time at one of those cabins since the early 70s.

Has anyone outside of the UK had any experience repairing these boots (or Vivo in general)? I read on their website that you can’t send them in to get a new sole put on if you live outside of the UK. I wrote to the company asking if they sell the sole separately but I’m waiting for a response.

As a trail runner, I think I’m confused about is why are they so heavy and I noticed a lot of the minimal two barefoot trail shoes are heavy than a regular shoe. It’s interesting they can lighten anything up that would be the greatest trail shoe ever but for me, it’s a minimal to short distance I want to go really long and real fast. I’m gonna go in something lighter usually that’s when I go with sandals.

I am still looking for that perfect boot. Have been wearing crispi boots while in the mountains the last years and I love them, but I like the idea of getting more ground-feel, and I suppose I can use these in the city during winter in Norway. The prize is a bit off-putting though. In my last 350 km hike in the mountains I used new Altra Olympus 5 MID and they pinched my heel a lot and created blisters and tendon problems. In addition, they got totally wrecked from that one 350 km trip and the laces didnt hold up either.

  • @anniwilson2534

These are my go to boots. I live rural and all of my walks are trail mud tracks long grass etc. mine are also 2+ years old and the tread is wearing as one would expect. But the uppers on mine still look good and not scuffed - I do regularly treat them with boot polish. I brush dirt off after every walk and let the boots air dry (removing insoles if it’s been wet) then I polish them using a standard wax boot polish. The result is mine are still looking good and 100% waterproof. They do come up a bit small compared to other Vivobarefoot boots and as they don’t do half sizes some might want to go up one size if wearing thick socks. My feet don’t sweat in them in warmer temperatures but I wear Injinji toe socks. Agree about the eye watering price - I bought an additional pair in the sale for £90 when my current ones wear out, but I’ll get them re-soled before then.
