As a high tax rate employee, salary sacrifice EV makes a lot of sense. Maybe not as much as pension AVCs, but it’s a way to get a nicer or newer car than you could otherwise afford.
In September 21 I got an Audi etron 55 Technik, with comfort and sound pack.
Replaced in November 24 with an Audi Q6 Sport Quattro, with Sound and Vision pack
I need 200miles plus range, 40/20/40 split seats or a large ski hatch, over 500 litres of boot space, 1800kg+ towing, Four wheel drive too. Decent recharging on a long run.
I like a lot of comfort and love the tech that comes in modern cars.

Faults and Warranty Claims on my Audi eTron
Got the 55 etron myself currently … next few months I need to start looking at its replacement… I have big dog … Alaskan malamute that is just comfortable enough in the etron 55… Your video has helped with my doubts on moving to the Q6 … as I was concerned with the on paper figures with the 30 or so less litres quoted on the Q6 vs the Q8 …. So you feel yourself that the Q6 is more usable space than the 55 model boot ? Thanks And cheers for the videos ! Really helpful 👍🏻
It’s a taller squarer boot. Should be fine for a big dog. Higher loading sill though - hope he’s agile.
What are the costs for insurance and vehicle excise duty for the Q6 EV
Insurance is high - but mines insured by the company. It’s group 47 for the Quattro sport. Excise duty is £0 now but from April it’s the same as new petrols and that includes the luxury car premium for cars registered after 1/4/25
Thank you for the video(s). Pretty much the same as you, going from an e-tron 55 Black Addition to the Q6. In fact the same model. I have spent some time trying to find reviews on the Q6 sport Quattro but all are top end spec cars. So really pleased that I found your channel.
So many cars in reviews have air suspension and that’s not available in UK, except on the SQ6
Perfect; even better than Audi's own helper vids!
Awesome review mate 🙌🙌🙌
That's useful information regarding the HUD...it works well. Can the car be set to follow other cars at a certain distance...and adjust its speed accordingly ?. Also if the Q6 driver should lose attention and the car ahead suddenly stops would the Q6 emergency brake to avoid an accident?.
Yes it can
@@ski_tron2446 Good to know...thank you..!!..🙏
How do you like owning the car? Any glitches or regrets?
A few small software glitches. They should mostly be fixed with the next update, which new cars come with and I get installed next month. I love the car to drive. Space - it works well as a family car for us. Love the tech. It’s noisier than I expected, that’s the main downside. I also considered another Q8 and looked closely at Polestars.
@ thank you! I’m considering ordering one next month but read some online reviews/complaints and it’s got me a bit spooked. Appreciate people who are happy with a car aren’t generally posting on forums though, so it’s negatively biased for sure. What do you mean by the noise? Do you mean how loud it is in the cabin when you are driving? That’s interesting because I’ve heard other reviews comment on it being quiet (definitely hearing mixed things through!).
@ i was a bit spoilt because my last car, an etron 55 was so quiet. The Q6 is far noisier than that. but its still a quiet car compared to most.
Hi mate, do you have any recommendations for a dash cam for Q6? That’s a bit cheaper? Looked into Audi and it’s a bit pricey. Do you have one on your q6? Thanks
I don’t I’m afraid - the company insure it so less incentive.
We didn't have a sunroof on our etron 55, but have now on our Q6, and it is so nice and big.
Still can't beat my RS3 70 plate
Space wise/interior quality and in other regards the q6 batters the rs3
Not much can! Unless we’re talking, space, running costs and other boring stuff.
Put one on a ramp and look at the build quality It is cheap and basically, you are paying a premium for the vw platform.
No way.... yeah they share bits but the gloss Audi put on their cars makes them premium
VW don’t use the platform that’s under the Q6. But Porsche do.
Do you have a view on whether the upcoming A6 etron would be better/worse than the Q6? Would love to see a video comparing them in future.
Better to drive because it’s lower. That also means more efficient, especially on the motorway. The same dashboard/MMI . Same batteries. Same platform. But worse for passenger and luggage space.
Thanks for the simple explanation, one of the most annoying things about new cars
If it had the right speed limits I could tolerate it. But half of today it was stuck in kmh so completely wrong.
Three other points I'd like to make in regards the 55 and the Q8, and this probably applies to the Q6 as well. One is the reliability of data the car gives you in range predictions. It is very accurate and with thought, I can generally improve it by 5%-10% on a lengthy trip. If I choose to, and it adapts easily and accurately as you drive. The second point is that I turned off key less entry on both cars. Too risky. And finally, IMO auto park is too slow and I always get fed up of trying to use it. Never once had a successful manoeuvre. Problem is, it often comes as part of a package with things that you actually want. I also have Intelligent Octopus, linked up to my 4 year old Pod Point it's great!
The etron/Q8 is very reliable on the range. It would predict accurately and update on the drive if needed - usually improving. On the Q6 the remaining battery percent and the remaining range don’t tie up when it gets low. I don’t know which one is the accurate one.
I've had a 55 launch edition and now a Q8 etron 55 Vorsprung and done almost 80,000 miles combined, in them. Loved them both. Not likely to change car for another 2 years or so. If I was changing now, I'd go for the Macan 4s, not the q6, even though I have had ten Audis. The proportions of the Q6 don't quite work for me being too narrow and tall. I think the Macan has better proportions even if it is on the same platform. Having said that, by the time I come to change, there may be a new Q8 etron based on the platform that is coming from the Porsche Cayenne EV (which, I think, will be out later this year). I think the Q6 has many improvements, some of which were are on my 55 and are on my Q8 but obviously technology has changed and charging/range is much improved but on a slightly smaller platform. On my Q8 with winter tyres and 22" rims, I currently get around 250 miles in a UK winter. Last weeks trip to London, mostly motorways, roadworks, queues etc, I got 2.7 miles per kW over 390 miles. As you say, charging either the 55 or the Q8 is no problem. I stopped once for breakfast and once for a cuppa on the way home. 25 minutes and 5 minutes, that was enough and I was home with 12%. it should have been 14% but there was a last minute detour because of an accident.
I was very tempted by the Macan4. Great looking car. But too expensive via my employers lease scheme compared to the Audi even though list prices weren’t far apart.
Another great vid; clear and too the point. Request for future vids: - there's disagreement on some forums about what lane keep assists come with the car (if at all). A walkthrough and experience would be welcome. - Family experience and impressions of the car; as you say that might be better served in the next ski hol. - Wouldn't mind a POV driving vid of you on country roads (where you feel the bumps), mixed in with motorway driving.
@LeviStar21 lane keeping being uploaded!
I hope you’re doing well. I recently ordered the S-Line, but I realized that I forgot to include the frunk as part of the configuration. Would it still be possible to have this added once the vehicle arrives? I understand this might depend on the production stage, but I wanted to check if any options are available. Thanks
Hi mate. I did enquire with Audi and you can order it for £215 or £275 fitted by your local Audi dealer.

@ thanks buddy, I ordered S Line back in October and collect March.
@ S Line gains 20” wheels, privacy glass and loads of S badges over mine. The black part of the front bumper is also slightly changed. Unlike other Audi S line cars the Q6 S Line keeps the comfort suspension.

What is the Matrix subscription you mention ? What does this add ? I'm guessing the hardware is built in with all models and just a software unlock to use ? Thanks for your time making the videos, they have been super helpful in helping me pick.
Also, What is the cost of this subscription. thanks again.
In the myAudi app go to the functions store. You can add matrix to cars without it active as standard. It is active on Edition 1 cars, not S line or Sport. All Q6 have high beam assist, but matrix will give dipped beam where it would cause dazzle and keep high beam in other areas. It’s £10 a month or £95 a year or £255 for 3 years. theres a one month trial for £1.
How do you pre heat the battery?
Can only be done through thr audi sat nav at the moment by planning in which chargers you will stop at. Hopefully a later software update will allow you to manually select it.
Choose a rapid charger as a stop on your navigation route and the battery will warm up before you get there.
A video about self parking will be nice
Hi, can you do a videos on front trunk. Some don’t have it and Audi charging £215
Sure will do.
@ I have ordered the Q6 S Line Quattro with sound and vision pack to be delivered end of March 2025. Worries about all the reviews on how poor the software is.
@@anharuddin5965 new deliveries will come with a newer version of software than mine. most updates will happen over the air, but my old software needs a dealer to install it. Its got a few flaws but isnt terrible.
So if octopus intelligence restricts the models of cars and charger, how does it work if you plug in your second car? Does it work or does it think it’s your Audi on charge.
octopus connects to either the car or the charger. If you connect to the car, you can still charge a second car at low cost either simultaneously or just in the 2330-0530 fixed off peak rate. If you connect to the charger you just say how much % charge to add and when by. When I plug in our Fiat I just tell the octopus app I want 40% of a full charge as the Fiat battery is 40% of the capacity of the Audis.

This is really useful mate thank you
Glad it helped
How much ££ was the electricity you used to charge your car for 16mins?
16 minutes would deliver 40kWh, enough for 100 miles or more in the etron (150 in our other EV) but cost a whopping £29. A full battery charged at home costs £6.50 for 200miles. Or 250 miles in my new Q6
New update on my car. The ac charging system has completely stopped working, it shorts out the chargers and the fuse box switch in my house! Audi assistance came out to look at it, initially blamed the chargers (I have pod point and ohme) but then reassessed when the car also blew out the chargers in the call out van and a plug in 3 pin charger! It seems there is a major issue with both ports.
Both ports connect to the same AC charging module (at least they did in the old etron), it looks like that’s where the fault is. But you may have been able to rapid charge with DC fast chargers.
Thank U for a great video, Nice to know your perspective, being a pilot, certainly well qualified to give good advice about infotainment and vehicle driver assist systems. I’m Norwegian, had my Q6 Quattro S-line for 3 weeks, replacing my previous Etron 55, just like you. I'm now high up in the mountains, driving on relatively narrow road with snow, mainly without visible lines on the road surface. My question to you is how to understand the lane assist system. I just can’t figure out how to avoid the car automatically interfering with my steering, as I constantly will see a red line popping up in the HUD, showing the road margins, unfortunately in the wrong place. I’m well aware of how to deactivate the lane assist with the button on the handle to the left of the steering wheel, but after deactivation I still experience annoying steering responses, obviously intended to avoid my car driving out of the road. I finally found that deactivating another function in the settings menu called Lane warning (translated from Norwegian) seems to solve the problem, at least partially. Another issue is that in don’t fully understand how the adaptive cruice control works. In my old Etron 55 I liked how the car automatically reduced the speed prior to roundabouts etc, as U mentioned in the video. Is it in the Q6 really necessary to have the cruise control activated and set to a certain speed before this function works? (As I recall, this was not so in the old Etron 55). I would ask if you could do a separate video detailing how to operate these two systems in a more detailed manner. I think many Q6 fans would appreciate this, since several technical systems in the Q6 are new and/or adjusted compared to the Etron 55. Thanks again! Regards Arnfinn
I will look into that, great idea.
Hi there, I’m so glad I found your channel-your reviews are fantastic! I have a question as a first-time EV owner. Do you use a home charger, and if so, which one do you have? I’ve been offered a free Ohme charger, but I’m not sure what to expect from it. Do you have any recommendations or advice? Also, could you give me an idea of how much installation might cost? Thanks so much, and I’m looking forward to more of your reviews!
I do have a home charger, which makes life with an EV very simple. I now have 2 chargers, one from Indra and another from Ohme. I accepted the Ohme offer from Audi as we now have two EVs. It was installed on their behalf by ChargedEV. I recommend the Ohme charger. Just choose between the pod which has a socket for the Audi cable, or the pro which has its own cable and a small screen. Then check out my electricity tariff videos and pick a suitable tariff for cheap home charging.
@ thank you for your response and suggestions. I’m leaning towards OHME pro as well coz I prefer tethered. I will watch your video about electricity tariff for sure 👍 I think I already watched most of your videos. Thank you again for the time and reply. Looking forward for more content and information about Q6 🙌 more power to you and to your channel.
I have watched many many videos on the Q6, your videos are by far the best. Thank you!
Wow, thanks!
Good clear review....looking forward to hearing your further thoughts on this car....especially on how quiet it is ...or isn't...on the road.
It’s not quiet. More filming soon.
Hi I’ve just received my Q6 etron, wondering if you managed to get the adaptive cruise to to read signs and adjust speed to suit? My old q5 used to change the speed according to signs automatically without touching anything but I can’t seem to get this car to do it!
I’ve got the speed limiter to auto adapt to speed limits, but it looks like there’s a higher spec adaptive cruise in some models that also has speed adjustment for corners and speed limits. I know the Ed1 has lane departure warning with emergency assist, as opposed to lane departure warning on the Sport and Sline, but I don’t know of any ACC changes between UK models, they aren’t listed on the Audi configurator. Would be a good feature to have.
Thank god its got a big battery!
Still a phat etron 🤣
I have an Audi e-tron 55 quattro, similar to yours, a 2020 model. While planning my first trip to Europe for December, I noticed that the navigation system isn’t prioritising Ionity chargers-it keeps using Fastned and Total Energies instead. Since I have an Ionity Passport subscription, it's more cost-effective for me to use their network. My maps are up to date, but I can't seem to figure out how to plan routes around Ionity chargers. Do you know of any way to do this? Would really appreciate your help!
You could use A Better Route Planner and set Ionity as a preferred network but I’d just use the Ionity app. Click on the menu top right, enter the route and Id suggest you also show alternative stops in the app and you’ll have the option to pull in somewhere if the planned stop looks tight. Rerun the navigation plan from current location after each stop if you deviate from plan A. You could also put each Ionity stop into the Audi nav. Add them all and set as stopovers.
Was waiting for this update 👍👍
I’ll get something more comprehensive on line soon. The car is great, but it is noisier than the old eTron.
Really great video, many thanks. I’m seriously considering a Q6 once my Q4 lease is up, so looking forward to future videos on the Q6.
I’m planning on getting a Q4 driver to give me his thoughts and also to put it side by side against a friends new Q4 45 quatttro.
Did you buy the plastic Mat you got from Audi?
Carmatsuk. They lasted pretty well. Have the Audi supplied all weather mats in the. Q6 and they are superb but expensive.
Audi 👌
Cheers! If I recall in a previous video, one of your children was hoping you’d go for the Porsche. Looking forward to your periodic Q6 updates.
They certainly were. I saw a Macan 4 on the road and it does look magnificent. But it was too expensive at my lease company. Would take it over the SQ6. I very nearly went for Polestar.
too much plastic
Hey. I will receive my S Line Edition One (full spec) next week. I’ve started a Facebook group. You’re happy to join (Audi Q6 e-tron Owners Group)
Hi, I have the same car. Seems ok so far except the app which is unstable, with key functions like remote climate not working. It seems there is a major software update needed at Audi, but this takes 2 days and I can’t get booked in until January
My remote climate function has worked OK, but now my app is stuck in German. You can set climate schedules in the car and I use the activate on unlocking setting too.
Type of videos I am looking for. Not a car review made by a car channel but a simple car walkaround by an owner. Thank You :)
That’s the point of my channel. Real world information. Thank you.
Great video as always. It doesn't bode well for perception of material quality when at 1:44 the seat material already appears to be sagging.
Great point!, something to keep an eye on.
@ski_tron2446 Yeah, didn't have any of that on your E-Tron 55. I currently have a 19 reg 55 also and none of this. I've noticed the same with even vehicles like the EQS.
Good choice, should be a real mile muncher and much more efficient than your etron. From memory I think the Q6 is near the top of Bjorn Nylands 1000km tests.
It should be good, it’s going to the Alps in Feb. The old etron was amongst the best of its era and remains quick today thanks to the charging curve.
Really pleased you’ve gone with the Q6! It looks fantastic - great colour! Looking forward to some future videos, in particular the tech & interior.
I’m trying to get my head around the tech. It’s a bit more complex than the Airbus I fly!!!
@@ski_tron2446I’m sure if you can handle a MCDU you’ll soon have your head around it 👍
Great video and explains much better than the Octopus website. I’m currently on economy 7 with the old teleswitch meter which might be discontinued in June 2025 so need to get a smart meter and new tariff. Like the idea of Intelligent Octopus as 6hr off peak will work for me. I just wonder if it can be set to definitely deliver the off peak rate during those hours as we set the dishwasher and washing machine for off peak, don’t want the off peak to be delayed and end up paying full rate for those items being used. It might not seem much in the overall cost but the sceptic in me thinks that Octopus will wangle the rates to suit them and not me. after all , they’re a company out to make as much profit as possible.
Intelligent Octopus will definitely give you 6 hours of cheap use every night, 2330 - 0530, whether you have a car plugged in or not. But you might be better off with EON drive V4. Where I live their rates are lower by day and by night, and you get 7 hours off peak.
@@ski_tron2446 Thanks, will take a look.
My guess is the replacement is a Q6 E-Tron.

Thanks for all the videos really enjoyed them. Still have my Launch Edition, although my wife has just bought an IX3 which I am really impressed with!
Still using Octopus Energy😁
My friend has the IX3. She’s extended the lease as she can’t find a replacement quite as good (and she refuses to drive an Audi).
@@stewartgray5581 iog works best for me, but EON will suit many others better.
Hope your mother in law isn't a subscriber. :) Thanks for all your etron videos, they've been very helpful. I've been on the edge of getting an etron but leaning heavily towards an IX. Looking forward to seeing what you get next! Although the hint at the end has given me a big clue.
IX is a terrific car, but I’m not sure the iX40 had the range I need and the iX50 is expensive with my lease company.
I've been looking to go back to Octopus, currently with E-ON, although E-ON are good with 7 hours cheap rate per night, I did prefer Octopus, but after changing my car from a Diesel to an IPace and already having my wife Fiat 500E, we ended up with a none compatible Intelligent Octopus charger and cars, resulting in only 4 hours a night cheap rate charging. So I've had an intelligent compatible charger installed and plan to move back soon, just need E-ON to sort out the billing something they keep getting wrong.
We’ve just got a Fiat 500e too. It’s fabulous, I love driving it round town. Unless you are doing consecutive days of high miles and needing over 7 hours charging at a time then EON is probably cheaper for you than IOG.
@@ski_tron2446 The Fiat has been a great little car and my wife loves it, now with 2 grandkids, we need to change to a 4 door for her, so the Fiat is being replaced with a Citroen EC3 in about a month, the car is on order, my wife will miss her car, for me the only down side (for us) we bought the car 3 years ago, the 500Es are cheaper now than back then and as such the depreciation was over 60% in 3 years, but that's still not taking away what great little cars they are.
