    And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

    Loved this presentation: convincing, articulate and without hyperboles. Great content! I am less convinced about the methodology though, which is basically fundamental analysis to the core. I believe we live in policy-driven markets where the Fed and the Treasury matter more than the company's balance sheet unfortunately.

    Please, give me answer for "increased % to our dividend due to currency depreciation of 700% in the last 15 years" in other words let us say i invested to a manufacturing company that pays 127% dividend. at that time, 15 years before, 1 fuc used to be 10 etb. now it is 1 fuc=70 etb. what should be the % of the dividend the company should pay for its shareholders this time?

    Strange that we find volatility to be a problem rather than an opportunity, the owners of businesses that are not afloat on the stock market don't think of how much a portion of the business will sell for on any given day

    Ben Graham also lived before the closing of the gold standard. The possibility of infinite growth priced in dollars was impossible without sucking capital from somewhere else. So selling was a very different thing back then. There is the risk that even though the government will always try to print its way out of it and everyone around the world, that they also mint only principal and not interest so economic collapse is theoretically possible. If you don’t think the government will come in and increase the money supply by even more after the collapse or that chances of collapse are particularly high you maybe could justify having some downside protection. Sort of the risk is that everyone realizes this now at all time highs and that there is another Great Depression or in Japan where they did everything modern monetary told them and it never recovered. I don’t think that’s likely but I don’t like the risk of complacency when people ignore the intrinsic value and focus primarily on extrinsic value or whatever you want to call growth potential.

    They won’t default, but they may devalue the bonds by destroying the currency. Which is looking to be more and more likely. As debt to gdp continues to grow the odds of a hyper-inflationary event grow. This is part of a part of the larger currency cycle. So, the ultimate question is whether or not bond rates will beat inflation, and at what point is it not worth the risk. Foreign nations are getting away from US bonds for a reason.

    • @stevenbond4637
      @stevenbond4637 6 месяцев назад

      He typically owns about 10 things, 11 when he recorded this, so he's more like 10% positions. If I understood him, the 5% is that he likes to own 5% of a company's outstanding shares. so with a few hundred million to play with, he's not buying a trillion dollar company like Apple. He goes for little things like Star Group, the firm owns 3% of the company, he personally owns 3% too I think, so he's a big deal for the company he invests in and gets to talk to the board n what not. But he really is very concentrated.
