The term “lukewarm Christian” is not found anywhere in scripture. Those described in Revelation 3:16 as lukewarm are very clearly not Christian. They are described as having a worldly fake version of the faith, masquerading as the true faith. Jesus exhorts them to buy “white garments”, which is a clear reference to salvation. Jesus is telling them they need what they don’t have: salvation. Jesus is standing outside the church at Laodicea, not inside. The church of Laodicea is not saved.

I don't like this interpretation you told us very much, also I don't think it's correct. I think Jesus meant this message for those who live life without consciously not deciding for themselves by themselves (aka the indolents described by Dante before entering hell). It is not to be meant literally, like you have to be either all light or all shadow. We are both and we wouldn't exist without one or the other. It's what makes us human beings. It's our decision to decide which part we want to act on, without discarding the other.

Hey I recently got baptized and now am trying to walk with our father Jesus! However my old life isn’t so pretty, I’ve messed up big time, and have done some things that don’t please the lord. I’ve been trying to clean up my old life, and make things right, confess the things I have been hiding and apologize to the people I hurt, but I feel it is so hard to. I'll just say here what I heard on the other channel and with which I think I actually agree. It was said that it's not like fully rejecting God is better than being lukewarm, because God always wants us to be with him. The phrase ,,I could wish you were cold or hot" has geographical source in Laodicea - city mentioned in the Bible, which was located between Heliopolis and Colossae. Heliopolis was known for its hot springs and the water there was used for its therapeutic reasons. Colossae was known for its cold and refreshing waters which were used for drinking. Laocidea on the other hand despite it being wealthy city, lacked water, so they made pipe system and thanks to that they could direct water to them from 2 other cities. But before the water got to Laodicea it was lukewarm. In that case it wasn't giving any therapeutic benefits nor it was giving a refreshment so it was useless. So in that case being hot is good and being cold is good, just in different way, but being lukewarm means doing nothing with your faith which is said to be indeed a bad thing.

That’s not what cold or hot means by being not a follower or a follower it’s saying the hot springs in the north served a purpose but the cold springs in the south also served a purpose so Jesus compare humans. Saying lukewarm Christian’s didn’t do actual good they kinda just did nothing. Both hot and cold in this situation are good and Jesus is not talking about people who don’t believe.
