Thanks 👍
Thanks for video @pictuelle. Question, was it UnFi controller portal or you were accessing UniFi AP portal directly and did configuration directly on the AP?
pictuelle, thank you so much. I am truly grateful. I tried the TFTP and Manual TFTP recovery options for a couple hours and failed miserably. This method worked flawlessly with a kensington slim USB drive. Cheers to you
Any chance you could set the google docs file to public so we don't need to all individually request access? thanks!
Thanks, this helped me out of a bind and got me back up and running. Was surprised to find out about the USB thumb drive inside the device. Your download link to the image file is broken, but I was able to find another image via web search that fit the bill. Thanks again for your time and effort to post this
I don't get it, I don't see Nice tutorialm make a lody in tNice tutorials video?
I like to use soft soft completely naked.
Does someone know how to remove these from a ceiling?
Thank you. It works. After I have created the stick I was able to get to its web interface and then able to deploy the latest firmware version. Much appreciated your help
ok
Do you connect the AP to the firewall or switch
Can you put a new link for the image so i can fix my edgerouter poe
can you reupload the file, I can't download it
It works!!! Thanks for sharing! As we say in my neighborhood "thank you carnal" I send you affectionate greetings from Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico.
I have an Edgerouter lite. And it happened to me that one night I rebooted the router and after that it didn't come back. I do the reboot procedure and try to connect to port eth0 with an ip from segment 1 but I am unsuccessful. I hope that with the help of this video and the marterial I will be able to do it.
hi can you please do a video on dns?
Do you have instructions on how to set up the NAT and MASQ rules for the UTM?

Is storage built in too?
is there an extra ram slot for upgrades?
No chrome book are not upgradable
hii sir, i have sonicwall firewall TZ-400 and ubiquiti APs but unbale to this can any one help me in this ??
Probably should have removed the pc board and checked the solder joints on the main ethernet jack. If it got knocked of the wall that probably got stressed.
But did you test the speed? I saw someone else who got the green 1Gb display light via RJ45, but when tested they were getting the 10Gb connection. It is likely to be just a display light issue.
Thanks for the video. There is a guy on YT who was able to repair an AC LITE relatively easily. I think it was a resistor replacement IIRC. Maybe that would work for this guy too. Did you ever get it working again? How do these perform in comparison to any of the newer ones? Would you recommend purchasing some of these older units versus newer?
Why am I watching this I've seen it in person
Great guide! Thanks a ton!
no wifi card?
It's soldered to the board.

Now that you've had them for a while, any IR filter failures?
I had one at my own house, and one at one other deployment fail IR. Not too bad considering the amount of cameras in the field.

Can u Upgrade RAM?
no
I have the exact same model. for whatever reason, it wouldn’t work. It would power on, I would engage the reset process with the LED blinking and then going solid, but it would never reboot. I think it got bricked somehow. So i tried your steps, loaded the image on a usb 2.0 disc and slapped it back in. Same trouble. It's really strange, the links respond, but I never get a DHCP assignment from eth port 0. I tried the other ports as well, same thing. I then attempted to console in with the 56700 baud rate, and started getting a bunch of code crap. My main issue is that it doesn't reset... the console light remains on the entire time after the LED blinking from eth por 4 goes to solid and then disappears. Anyway... I was hoping to save the $150 but i've succumbed to purchasing a USG this time.
Nvm, I had to manually set the IP of 192.168.1.2 in my NIC of my pc, and the gateway also to 192.168.1.1. Once I did that I was able to access the GUI via the gateway ( forgot if I used or ). Thank you very much for doing this video!
I've installed pihole on my raspebry pi. It blocks ads on browsers, however RUclips app - ads are not blocked on mobile devices and smart tvs. Is there a solution for this? It would be great if you make a video on this too ☺️
other than some crazy regex blocking....that's about the only option
My ER-8 just died. How can i put the image back on it Please help. Thanks
Drew Ferguson mine did too, I’m going to try this guys suggestion.
We are on 3.9.54 now, I assume these problems should be solved by now...If they are, please update your complaint video or remove it please.
No actually still the same on the 3.9.54.9373 release. I don't actually blame UNIFI since this is a beta product and I don't have 600$ to retest this with newer ones - but I do have the problem with specific copper ports so the statements still stands. If and should things change, I'll update the description.
@@Pictu same issue on the latest 4.0 firmware?
@@enkrypt3d SAME ISSUE HERE ON V4.0
Many thanks for this video. I was going in circles, couldn't figure it out.
Is creating a zone mandatory?
In sonicwall it was - things and configurations vary greatly between different firewalls and even different firmware editions.
"In sonicwall it was". Thanks to confirm this. Mine are SonicWALL TZs.
I was torn between an AP PRO and HD for my home. Sounds like a single HD is worth the price over the PRO? Was just going to start with one and a Cloudkey.
Depends on the size of the house, number of devices etc, but HD comes with more antennas and other features that might as well be worth every penny.
Maybe I'm missing something, but this router most definitely supports POE at 48v and 24V. It even says so right on the front of the router in your video! You can switch which of the last 3 ports have passive POE coming out of them at either 24v or 48v from the webUI.
My bet power regulators are dead.
Thanks a lot pictuelle, i really frustated when have unifi AP AC PRO connected to my network firewalled by sophos, which is there is no DHCP server from sophos....only 3 VLAN, then now i know how to make DHCP server embed with port LAN, then unifi controller just make the device connectedd to VLAN-DHCP, right ?
yes but make sure you can pass tagged vlans through your switches
yeah thx a lot pict, keep sharing !!
pict, wanna ask, do we need to add routing static after create VLAN embed with port LAN ?
Only if you have some crazy routing requirements, otherwise if you use simple DHCP scopes, - just stick with default settings.
i using simple dhcp, so after i created VLAN on LAN interfaces, then do not need to add routing ?
I tried this but have has zero luck. I have a SonicWall NSA 2600 with a HP Pro Curve 2530 switch. Followed the SonicWall and Unifi AP setup to the letter but none of my test clients gets an IP Address when connected to the guest network. Even when I manually assign an IP to a host on the guest network, I cannot ping the SonicWall on the VLAN network or access the WAN. Checked the auto-generated rules and everything appears to be in place there. Do I need to configure VLAN setting on the switch ports?
my gut instinct would be to check that the switch is passing vlan traffic to the endpoints - if not, you need to set that up first - since vlan originates on your sonic-wall, has to pass through your switches (which have to be capable of vlan traffic) and then hit endpoints (your clients - in your case unify WiFi adopters or such)
I tried everything with my switch to no avail. (I am not well versed in VLANs and I think I was configuring the trunking incorrectly) I ultimately ended up connecting the Unifi APs to a different port on the SonicWall and configuring that to pass traffic appropriately . VLAN is working connected directly to SonicWall. Frustrating but probably more secure in the long run.
you configure on switch trunk native vlan or not for access to AP
depends how its set, yes native untagged for management and wifi networks tagged, that would be simplest way of doing and explaining this.
Hey, Great tutorial! Have you been able to test how many streams you could get out of those 6 Vcores? Do you think I could run Plex for 1 stream at a time, on a 1Vcore 1.5Gb Ram VPS? Thanks.
I had 3 streams running with no interruption at 1080 - soo you possibly could be ok with single core, as long as its not clocked at like 1ghz :)
I have a SW TZ500 FW, Cisco SG200 Switches, and Ubiquiti AP Pro AP’s. I want to setup a new SSID on a VLAN. Can the Native VLAN traffic and the new VLAN traffic pass on the Cisco switch to the SW? Do I need to set the ports on the Cisco switch to Trunk mode to have this traffic pass to the SW? My first time setting up a VLAN. I do not have other Ubiquiti hardware jus 11 AP Pro AP’s. Thank you for any help you can give me.
Doesn't the share need to be writeable for Plex to be able to create optimised versions for mobile etc.?
How does a docker container differ from a freenas jail?
Docker is a very business oriented solution for large business deployment and has a very large global following, while jails are a niche only tied to freenas with very little input from global community whatsoever - so basically you have to be a freeBSD guru to work them well.
Sucks re bridge mode, no admin access that allows me to put 8n bridge mode. Looking at routing looks like you can switch off nat. Also looks like you can switch off nat on the usg and will be available in next release
I have a sophos XG home. My isp will not put their router in bridge mode without doubling the monthly chArge. The only bit I am struggling with therefore is the routing and what to do.
Phew... I've never heard that, If you have access to that ISP router, you should go to settings and enable the pass-through... regardless, you will have to do NAT twice because of that. Not sure what the limitation of home XG is, but for business XG purposes, that was always setup during initial setting in wizard.
I like your posting a lot but would be grateful if you could help with a checklist of tasks to enable this to happen Current setup Fibre ISP Router (NAT) - USG (NAT)- USW - AP Future setup Fibre ISP Router (NAT) - Sophos XG (No NAT) - USW - AP The checklist i believe in order is Steps: On Sophos Create VLANS 1-6 using LAN1 port Create DHCP scope 1-6 Create Firewall group deny, allow Create Firewall rule deny VLAN3 to other VLAN’s Create Firewall rule allow all VLAN’s to WAN (one for each VLAN) Apply specific web application filters on each of the firewall allows Routing? I do not want NAT as this is done on internet facing router Reserve Mac addresses and name hosts Connect Sophos to WAN and LAN connection on USW On USG Backup config! Restore config to make sure it works Change each of the VLAN’s to VLAN only 1-6 Take out the USG Test Is the checklist correct? The bit I am not sure about is routing on Sophos? Static routes? OSPF? RIP?
Which sophos applience do you have, is it SG or XG version or home? Also, you are correct, double-netting is terrible and you should avoid it like a plague. If you can have pass-through through your ISP router, that would be optimal setting as sophos would be the only device in-charge of NAT - Otherwise, your checklist is correct in your assumptions.
I installed one of these for an office back in December and had zero problems with a DL380 G7 with an intel 10G fiber card. Love that thing!
Thanks for taking the time to put together another awesome video. I do have a question on how you came up with a couple of the values in the command. When you are linking the drive you entered the command /vmfs/devices/disks/NVME/RDM/passdisk1.vmdk. I understand where you got the NVME but I missed where you got the RDM and passdisk1.vmdk.. I'm assuming that RDM is a directory in the NVME datastore but where did you get the passdisk1.vmdk? Is the command supposed to create that passdisk1.vmdk file on the fly or am I supposed to create the passdisk1.vmdk ahead of time and place it into the RDM directory? If I create it ahead of time does the size matter? The reason I ask is when I try it I'm getting the following error "Failed to create virtual disk: The system cannot find the file specified" Thanks in advance?
OK... so I found the issue... looks like in my version of ESXi I have to map the vmdk using the volumes directory and not the disk directory. I found that the vmdk file doesn't need to be created ahead of time and in my installation the link part of the command will look like this /vmfs/volumes/NVME/RDM/passdisk1.vmdk... the NVME is the datastore, RDM a directory I created in the datastore and passdisk1.vmdk will be the name of the file that is created that points to the phicial drive. Thanks again, for a great video, it was very hepful
Which version are you using? Yes and data-store/Folder/passdisknamehere.vmdk although i don't remember if I created folder prior to running this command or not, It's been few months :)
I'm running the following Version: 1.8.0 Build number: 4516221 ESXi version: 6.5.0 ESXi build number: 4887370 . I didn't have to create the file ahead of time but I had to use the volumes directory instead of disks in the link portion of the command. Here is my full command in my environment vmkfstools -z /vmfs/devices/disks/naa.50026b7757073ce2 /vmfs/volumes/datastore01/ptdisk/mydisk.vmdk
