@@TheTor_Detours Hey I watched your up hill travels on the hairpins and they look quite doable on my Vespa. it handles the Rocky Mountain roads that are not as gentle as the hairpins. Beautiful country and I'd love to ride but I'm 7500 KM away. It looks much like our above treeline country. Thanks! Jeff

Thanks, Alex! You were indeed lucky with the weather on your trip to Norway! This video was recorded late July 2021… Yeah, I am not super-comfortable on wet roads. Had a low-siding incident earlier that year on wet road + some kind of chemical spill. Takes a bit of time to build confidence again after such incidents. 🫤

@@TheTor_Detours I have only dropped a bike once and fully understand the confidence thing. I was in the mountains of Scotland doing a U turn and spilled it, even now I am extra careful doing one.

Also, meant to say, loved the extra details at the start of the video. I wish I knew about the ferry option and would have done that but only found out about it when I returned home.

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare! You should come back on a bike and enjoy it - for a change. 😂

Comme pour ferrypay, je pense qu'il est plus facile de s'enregistrer avant et automatiser le paiement par CB au fur et à mesure. Lors du voyage, il y a 1000 autres choses à faire que surfer sur des sites pour voir si il y a des péages à régler. Je fais partie d'un groupe d'amis motards, je leur transmets les coordonnées de ta chaine. A bientôt, peut-être autour d'une bière à Bergen fin juin 2025.🍻

Været toppet det hele med sol og null vind

Det er nok en god sykkel opp der. Ta det pent rundt svingene. Jeg møtte litt trafikk der. Vil tro de fleste kjører pent, men det kan bli trangt. God tur!!

Det er klare likheter med Hjølmovegen, men denne opplevde jeg som mer spektakulær og utfordrende - kanskje fordi det var første gang jeg kjørte her? Hjølmovegen har jeg på en måte «vokst opp med». Kan også ha hatt noe med at jeg hadde vært på reise i 5-6 timer før jeg startet på denne og at veioverflaten opplevdes mer utfordrende her, da det var en del løs småstein (singel) som jeg ikke er spesielt glad i. Følte at det kunne være noe økt sannsynlighet for at hjula kunne slippe, og siden jeg var alene og dårlig dekning der så tok jeg det rolig (kanskje for rolig?). Likheter, men forskjellige nok til at en bør få med seg begge.

@@grusgubben jeg kjøpte meg en Garmin Inreach Mini 2 noen år siden. Aktiverer abonnementet når jeg skal ut på turer der jeg vet det ikke er dekning. Kan da sende SMS til fruen via satelitt. Veldig greitt, ikke minst om en skulle havne i trøbbel så har en mulighet til å tilkalle hjelp, selv uten mobildekning.

Absolutely a nice road. Not to keen on this pebbly kind of gravel on top of the road when riding the big bike alone, but I can enjoy the scenery more when riding slow! 🤣

@TheNorthernSkeptic I sadly agree; about the weather that is - the visitors will just have to take the weather they get - it's a gamble when travelling in Norway. We're lucky to be able to enjoy these roads when we see the weather will be good... :-)

No, your license plate is automatically registered by camera and you pay through a website. If you do not pay within a certain time you will be sent an invoice with some additional fees.

There was no toll on this road as far as I can remember. It has been a few years since my last trip across. I see there was some commotion around the hotel at Videseter claiming some toll fee if you entered their premises, not sure if it still so.

Thanks a lot for your quick answer. If the main road 258 is without any fee claimed by the community, then it’s okay for me to pass that beautiful street. I’ve just asked because all over norway is claimed a toll on several spreaded spots. I just wanted to make an account or an overview for what I have to pay during my journey…
