    Thanks for all the excellent videos. That little red K101 that connects all 4 sensor wires atually includes resistors that produce different voltages that are sent back to the display. That's what determines whether one or all 4 lights light up..

I cut open the red connector in this video: ruclips.net/video/bmimEdijvBk/видео.htmlsi=GhXkFv_FHY8cWNco and I ohm out all of the resistors with a multimeter to show the different resistances. @uniquecampingmarine 3 дня назад

      Great question! Typically when it is a plastic fitting and a plastic nut, you do not need to use thread tape or sealant for the connection. Often times if you do use thread tape it can actually cause leaks versus preventing them. Thanks so much for asking!

    I replaced my black tank sensors and it was showing 2/3 when empty now it shows 1/3 when empty. Could the harness be bad?

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 10 дней назад

      Hello, great question! There are a few possible reasons why this is happening. It is possible that the harness has shorted to ground some where between the black tank and the controller. One way to find that out would be by ohming out the wire harness at the controller which requires a multimeter. Another possible cause for the misread is that perhaps the wires did not get connected in the correct order. This is something that I have done and left me scratching my head. The orange wire is the Full sensor, Green is 2/3rds, Yellow is 1/3rd and White is ground. If one or more of these are connected to the wrong senor it will show a misread. It is also possible that there is still a piece of wet toilet paper or debris that is still aligned with the sensors and is closing the circuit to show 1/3. Often times this can be cleared by a doing several rinses at the time of the next dumping. Deep cleaning the holding tank with a treatment can also help as well. Hopefully this helps to diagnose the sensor issue you are continuing to have. Thank you for asking and happy camping!

      @@uniquecampingmarine Thank you for the reply. The funny thing was after I replaced the sensors it worked normally as soon as I checked it but as soon as I put a little water in the tank it was off again. The wires are hooked up correctly. I have a new harness so I'm going to install it because it's fairly easy to do. I'm an Automotive Technician so I'm familiar using a meter. I'm also going to try flushing the tank a few times to see if that helps.

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 10 дней назад

      @@Mechanix827 It sounds like you did everything correctly. It is very possible that as soon as you added water to the tank something migrated to close the circuit. I can see the sensors on my tanks and they look to be glued into the tank. The sensors you showed looked like they were essentially Well Nuts. I guess what I'm wondering is if my sensors are really Well Nuts with some sort of sealant over them or are there glue in sensors that you did not discuss. The reason I'm asking is if they are really Well Nuts I could just remove them, clean them and reinstall them. Inquiring minds want to know. Also, do you have a money back guarantee?

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 15 дней назад

      That is a great question! Most RV sensors are sort of like well nuts in that the rubber bushing expands when tightened to help make a liquid tight seal. When they are tightened though, the rubber is held in the deformed position for long enough that they maintain the deformed shape. So when you removed them from the tank after you back off the 3/8" nuts that expand the rubber and hold them in place along with the sensor wire ring terminal they stay deformed. This makes them very difficult to reinstall once removed. I have gotten them to go back in the original hole but at the cost of damaging the rubber and then it never sealed correctly. Fortunately, the sensors are pretty affordable, at around $15 for a complete set and they are very easy to install because when they are new, the rubber has not been expanded and deformed. Because of the price and how much time and energy it saved me, I just recommend replacing them rather than trying to clean and reinstall them. We do offer a money back guarantee! On all of our products. Thank you so much for your questions! I hope this helps. Happy camping!

      @markdahl8082 17 дней назад

      BTW, thanks for the video!

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 16 дней назад

      That is a great question! The difficulty in removing and replacing the sensors on a black tank comes from locating them. Many RVs have covered undercarriage that is often insulated as well. This makes locating the black tank and the sensors very difficult. If you do have an exposed undercarriage, and are able to located the sensors, once you have removed them from the tank, the rubber bushings that hold the sensors in place and make a water tight seal, are typically deformed and very difficult to reinstall in the tank and make a water tight seal. Sometimes replacing the sensors is the only way to fix them but removing them, cleaning them and then reinstalling them is not possible for many RVers. Cleaning them while they are in place even if it takes multiple tries can be the best bet in a lot of cases. I hope this helps! Thank you for your question! Happy camping!

    Hi, thank you for this video. I have a Thetford toilet. Will this work for this brand as well? Another video showed having to take the whole thing off! 😫 Thanks

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine Месяц назад

      Hello! When it comes to Thetford toilets, it really depends on the model which you have. On some Thetford toilets, the seal can be replaced very similarly to the one in the video. Some of their other toilets require you to uninstall the toilet as you mentioned and some require you separate the toilet bowl from the toilet base in order to replace the blade/ ball valve seal. The best way to find out which style of toilet you have would be to find the model and serial number tag on the back of the toilet. I use either an inspection mirror or I flip the camera to the front one on my smart phone and take a picture of it. From there you can look up which style of toilet you have and then you can look up a video on how to replace the seal. If you find that it is too much, there is certainly no shame in having a professional RV technician handle it for you as well. I hope this helps! Thank you for your question!

    How is Restore It any different or better than Commando rv black tank / sensor cleaner?

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine Месяц назад

      That is a great question! Restore-It differs from Walex Commando int that Restore-It contains bacteria and enzymes to clean the sensors in the RV black tank. Walex Commando uses only enzymes to breakdown the waste. The reason why bacteria and enzymes are work better for breaking down waste and toilet paper is because enzymes are a limited quantity. Once they have eaten a portion of the waste, they are no longer active. Bacteria has the ability to breakdown waste as well as replicate themselves and create more enzymes. In doing so they can continue waste breakdown over a longer period of time and more effectively than a product that only uses enzymes. I hope this helps to answer your question! Thanks so much for asking it!

    Well, I've used Unique products since I've owned my RV; here's a little back story. I bought my RV used. Unbeknownst to me the previous owner did no black tank maintenance. When I finally figured out my tank wouldn't drain and I was hauling around the previous owners "doody" I took the RV back to the dealer. They finally got it to drain, but the tank seemed to fill far faster than it should. So....after some research I decided in using Unique Digest-It. It seemed to work OK. I was able to drain my tank and I could see the stuff that you would expect to see from a black tank. However, I was still seeing the tank sensors indicate the tank was filling far too fast. So, I also started using the Unique Clear-It at the beginning of every season to make sure that I was continuing to break down any possible stuff left behind from the improper maintenance of the previous owner. So far, so good. Now, despite all my attempts I still seemed to get readings that the tank was filling far faster than it should. So I ordered some Restore-It and put in my tank. I filled the tank full and I was able to let it sit for at least two weeks. When I drained the tank I did still see some awfully brown water, but I also noticed little chunks of dissolved toilet paper. Here's hoping to finally have a "clean" black tank and properly operating sensors. I will report back, since we are taking the rig out shortly....

    My 1/3 full sensor light is always on. I've even disconnected the wire to the sensor. Still on. The other sensors work as they should as the level increases . Is it a bad control unit??

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine Месяц назад

      It is possible that there is a short on the printed circuit board in the control/ display unit that is causing the 1/3 light to illuminate but it is very uncommon for there to be issues with that board. There is a series of resistors that control board uses to display the liquid level on the display that are placed very close to one another in a red piece of plastic on the wiring harness. It is possible that is cause of the 1/3rd sensor to illuminate even when your removed it from the sensor. Since you were able to remove the ring terminal off the sensor post, it sounds like you have access to the rest of the sensor. If this is the case, I would recommend replacing this portion of the wire harness before replacing the control board. It is cheaper than the control board and has a higher likely hood of being the problem. I hope that this helps! Thanks for your question and best of luck! Happy camping!

      I think that the reason why someone would not rinse their tank, if they had the opportunity to, would be because they did not know that they should be regularly rinsing their black tank. Especially when it comes to new RV owners, there can be so much new information about every part of the RV that some things like rinsing the black tank get over looked. From our end we fully agree that whenever possible, it is good practice to rinse your black tank thoroughly. Thank you for commenting!

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine Месяц назад

      Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your water valve! There are a few things that may be causing this problem. If the mounting screws are not tight enough the water valve may not be pressing close enough to the flush pedal to engage the actuator to let the water flow through the valve. Making sure the screws are tight enough is a good place to start. Sometimes there can be debris that has gotten caught in the water valve itself blocking the water flow. Turning off the water to the RV and making sure the pump is also turned off, remove the water line from the valve and look inside to see if you see any stuff in the valve. When you have the water line disconnected from the valve, sometimes it is a good idea to run some water through the pipe that connects to the water valve to see if there are any blockages in the pipe rather than a problem with the valve itself. It is best to do this into a bucket so as not to make a mess. There could also be a broken piece of the foot pedal that is not allowing the water valve actuator to be pressed. Unfortunately, there can be quite a few things which are keeping the water from going through the valve. I hope some of these suggestions help! • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine Месяц назад

      @@superneo123 Hello! Yes, typically when the gray tank only shows empty at all times it is a wiring problem. Either the power supply wire (red) or the grounding wire (white) has broken or the insulation has rubbed through to the bare copper. This can be relatively easy to repair if there RV’s undercarriage is exposed and you can see the holding tanks. However, if the undercarriage is covered with coroplast and potentially insulation then it will be much more difficult to find the broken wires. If you are not comfortable with removing this amount of material then it may be worth taking your RV to a service center or calling a certified RV technician. I hope this helps! @@uniquecampingmarine thanks that is what I was thinking, and I do have a covered insulated underbelly. So that will be a lot harder to find, our rv is only 3 years old and does not move much as we are on a seasonal site and I has been working since sitting here. Just odd that it decided to break now. Thanks

      @@superneo123 The covered undercarriage certainly makes it difficult to find the problem. It is overall a good thing to have on an RV but it makes solving this problem much harder. Sometimes the ring terminals (the item which connects the wire to the sensors) can get overtightened from the factory and can break off. That would be my guess as to what happened. Sorry you have to deal with it! I hope you are able to get it fixed!

    My black water always shows empty.... no matter the level. So, there is not much use for my issue 😢

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine Месяц назад

      I am sorry to hear you are having that issue. In that particular circumstance, there is typically a problem with the wiring. It is usually with either the wire which goes to the lowest sensor (often called ground) or the wire which supplies power. When one of these wires either grounds or breaks free from the ring terminals, it will read empty all of the time. If the underbelly of the RV is open and you can see the black tank itself, then it is relatively straight forward to repair the wiring. However, if the underbelly is covered with coroplast then it will be much harder to repair and it may be necessary to take your RV to a service center. I hope that you are able to get the wiring issue resolved! Happy camping!

    Do I have to wait until I empty the black water tank: or can I use RV Digest It + after the tank is half full and wait to empty tank until it is completely full?

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 2 месяца назад

      It sort of depends on if you had another holding tank treatment in the black tank. If there is no treatment in the tank then, yes, you can add a treatment to the tank when it’s half full and allow it to work while the tank is continuing to fill. If you do have another brand of tank treatment in the tank then it is best to wait until the tank is full and then use RV Digest-It Plus when you’ve dumped the tank and rinsed it out throughly. I hope this answers your questions! Happy camping!

    Hi I had two questions…how long will it take to digest waste in a 5 gallon tank ? And the other is how much do I pour into a 5 gallon tank bc we use a portable toilet that holds water on top and waste in the bottom tank

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 2 месяца назад

      Excellent questions! We recommend that you add one ounce of RV Digest-It + to one gallon of water that you prefill into the waste area of the portable toilet. This will allow the RV Digest-It + to have a plenty of water to survive in while you are using the toilet. It will also help to keep the waste and paper under water which will help with odors as well. With all of that said, this product was not intended for this small of a tank. It will have an effect and it will certainly break down waste and paper but since the tank will fill quicker than an RV built in black tank, the waste tank will need to be emptied more quickly. The product starts breaking down waste as soon as it enters the water with the product but the results of the breakdown may be less noticeable if the tank needs to be dumped after a day or two. We typically recommend dumping the black tank in an RV ever 3-5 days for reference. I hope this helps answer your questions! Happy camping!

    I have two black tanks, two Grey tanks and then the fresh water tank. My sensors were working great until middle of last summer. That is when they all started reading full. Could this be a bag ground or should I be looking for something else?

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 2 месяца назад

      It is very possible that either the ground (white wire) or the line (red wire) have either broken free somewhere along the harness. Since all five tanks went down (presumably at once?) I would start by removing the face plate of the controller (where you press the button to see how full the tanks are) and see if a wire has come loose there. You may get lucky. It is most likely not an issue with the control itself but they do occasionally fail. Beyond that, it would be time to start ohm testing the wires for continuity to ground. Often times having a certified RV technician take a look makes the most sense. I hope this helps! I would love to know what you end up finding. Best of luck!

    I plan on filling my tank this week while I wait for the bottle to arrive, (I have 2 black tanks one shows completely full, the other about 1/2 full.) Then after almost a week dumping that tank and refilling and adding the product. From there on I'll be on vacation for about 10 days before I come back to camp. Will this be ok? any worries for that length of time?

    • @uniquecampingmarine

      That sounds like a good plan to me! There is no amount of time which is too long for Restore-It to be in the tank. 10 days or more is an excellent timeframe for the product to be in the tank. Best of luck to you with getting your sensors working again! Remember, that we stand by our product so if you need another bottle to finish one or the other tanks just reach out to our customer support team!

    I have a 2022 jayco. The fresh water tank only goes from 1/3 to full. When filling it takes FOREVER to go from 1/3 to 2/3. Once it goes to 2/3, about 5L more of water it goes to full. And it’s the same for emptying the freshwater tank. It’s like it goes from full to 1/3, but it still drains for a long time. Maybe the 2/3 and 1/4 seniors are switched?

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 2 месяца назад

      This is something which we have seen before. It sounds like the sensors are wired correctly because they illuminate the lights on the control board in the correct sequential order but at different fill intervals. The most likely cause for the inconsistency of fill times is the location of the sensors when they were drilled into the side of the fresh water tank. On brand new blank fresh water tanks (those with no holes cut in them for filling, draining, venting and sensors) they often need to be measured and cut by the installer. Because of this sometimes they don't get the measurements correct and just sort of eyeball it. This can cause very inconsistent fill times for the fresh water. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this would be to drill new holes for new sensors that are correctly measured or replace the fresh water holding tank and drill new holes for the sensors that are correctly measured. Sorry for the bad news on this one. I hope this helps to understand the reason for the issue at the very least.

    How does this work in a vacu flush toilet system?

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 2 месяца назад

      Hello! Most vacuum/ macerator toilets still empty into a black water holding tank that have the same style sensors that most RVs come equipped with but often have an additional float sensor wired to the toilet that will keep the toilet from flushing because if the float switch it in the closed position, even if you know the tank is empty then the toilet will not flush. Restore-It can still help in this situation. Often, the toilet will allow you to flush it once upon dumping the tank. So if you can get your RV to a dump station and there is no line, you can dump the tank. Add a full bottle of Restore-It to the toilet bowl and then you should be able to refill the holding tank while holding the flush pedal down and adding water to the bowl from either a garden hose or from a shower sprayer. Give it plenty of time (3-5 days) and then dump the tank. This often breaks down any waste or paper that may have gotten stuck on the float and will allow you to flush to the toilet again normally. It may take a few tries but we stand by our product so if necessary, contact our customer support and we will get you another bottle on us. If the problem continues, then it may be time to have a certified RV tech take a look because there are ways to by pass the float switches on vacuum style RV toilets. I hope this helps! Happy camping!

    ugh, the black water tank sensor still looked like it was reading full.....

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 3 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment! If you have dumped the contents of the black tank and allowed it to dry out (by leaving the valve open to air out over several days) and then you press the button on the control to check the sensors and they are still reading full, then you most likely have a problem with the wiring. Because many RVs have covered under carriage accessing the sensors and wiring may be difficult and it may be best to take the RV to a service center or have a certified RV tech take a look at them for you. Sorry that you are still having problems!

    dish soap and ice will clean the the tank and break up solid matter

    • @uniquecampingmarine
      @uniquecampingmarine 3 месяца назад

      Hey there, thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, ice will not actually clean the tank nor will it break up solid matter. Most of the ice will float around the middle of the tank and barely even brush the tank walls no matter how crazy you drive (watch this video to see us demonstrating that). The only benefit to adding ice in your black tank is to help lower the water temperature and reduce smells. Heat is a major factor when it comes to odors in black tanks. Regarding using dish soap to clean your black tank, dish soap is a great solution for breaking down grease and lifting it off a surface, but grease is not the major issue inside a black tank - paper and human waste is, and dish soap does very little to break down this type of waste.

      Ice 100% does help break down solids in the black tank.
