Hey Bro, Great Video, I have a 355 small block with a 350turbo tranny. My trans will not shift out of first gear, but when manually shifting it will shift from second to third gear. I did just recently installed a kick down cable to stop it from leaking when the car sits, but have not connected it to the carburetor. Could this be the problem or should I take out and check the Governor first ?

A 5.8 liter 351 Windsor F350... Wow! And how many miles are on it? 114,000? That motor should be a freakin' cherry! I have a 5.8 in a '94 F150, and I thought 140,000 was low... 😂

I always liked the th400 because of one i owned many years ago and now i have another but the vehicle is quite a restoration job and getting close to testing it out and to see how it shifts and this video will help a lot im sure.

My valve does not move freely can the holes be honed?

How in the world did you get that thing in there to loop around in itself? I have worked with trying to get these things like this to being back over and it’s hard to work in places like that you must’ve had some needle nose pliers or something before.

Hey I've recently had issues with my TH400. It started getting harder and harder to get in and out of Park. I don't think it has to do with the Reverse selection because Neutral to Reverse is okay. I've got a side detent floor shifter because the truck used to be Manual. Only thing I could think being the cause of the issue is when I changed the filter and maybe I bumped something?

Hi, I have a 1980 corvette with a 350 engine and a TH350 transmission and everything is stock , no modifications. The problem is the TH350 will not shift into 3rd unless I'm going 65mph and around 3800-4000 rpm, once shifted into 3rd, it runs just fine in drive untill I drop under 45mph and then I have to get back up to 65mph to shift into drive. Ist to second works fine, it shifts at around 15mph and 2600 rpm. I've tried replacing/adjusting the vacuum modulator, pulled the governor and checked the value and it works just fine. Any idea's what could cause this late shift? This transmisson has 65000 miles on it.

How do I get the spring out of the transmission if it comes off when I pull the pin out? Can I do it without dropping the pan?

I know this is older ,but im 70 alsoha ha.working through a square body project for retitemant,350 thm k 10 4x4.seems to stay in one fwd, gear .park, and reverse.rough driving on testing,loud exhaust,speedo cable missing guess i am going 35-40.dont hear shifting,or feel.also detents 1st and second doesnt feel like its engaging no feel in coluom handle,just park n,and drive.replaced modulater just now,lots of fluid poured out.truck was front wheels on ramps tilted to rear ,is that normal to pour out? I'm not surprised to see this on your channel. Us transmission men are pretty crafty individuals & pretty darned good at fixing lots of things. My dad was a transmission man for almost 50 years. Perhaps it was a different era, but we fixed lots of stuff ourselves. I don't know about your area, but we're experiencing weather in the mid 90's. Take care, buddy. Try to stay cool.

I put new govenor gear in with no slops left to right and cleaned the valve behind the modular and it won’t down shift in auto. Only when I manually do it. Kick down cable is cut not in use and I have a shift kit just sayin

I have a 78 k 10 that sat long time in S.C. bought on facebook.last year,seller changed filter fluid and new torque converter I'm replacing floors etc now when I took for drive only stays in one gear,not sure which,and reverse works,thm350,please do a video if you have time ,explaining modulator function and defects to diagnose for us newbies,I'm only building for pleasure driving.governor also what defects causeations.

i failed the first test any ideas ? but pump primes with jumper from B+ to fp. replaced opening relay and main relay. still cranks no start , runs on starting fluid. i,m replacing fuel filter.. 87 4 runner sr5 wouldn't start after filling gas tank.

I removed the valve. But valve doesn’t move freely. What would you suggest?? Tried reinstalling valve not going in well

I just seen one not long ago cylinder 6 misfire. Another shop put a coil and plug on it and no fix. They brought it to us. I checked cyl 6 with a borescope and found a steady drip from the water pump side.

Great video!!! I have a turbo 350 that won’t shift out of first gear. Park, reverse and neutral work great. The vehicle has been sitting for 8-9 months on jack stands. Fluid check is good but maybe I need to do the modulator, vacuum lines, filter, and new fluids. Any tips you have for me I’ll take them. Thanks again.

Unrelated question. Does the 04 3.0 have a map sensor and if so, where is it?

I dont know what the heck is wrong with mine. I can turn the key and it spins like it wants to fly away...lol Spins really fast with top speed momentum that almost shakes the frame. But it just does not seem to have the put put resistance going on. I can turn it with my hand, and there seems to be resistance like compression I guess. Dang thing is killing me.

Have a 350sbc that will not shift out of park to any other gear.

Can this be the reason why my 350 turbo shifts bad i to 3 gear when the oil get hot? Just changed everything.. But as soon as the cars oil gets hot.. it slurs.. and i need to floor it to get it into gear.. Not much dirt in the filter either.. 🥲
