You know what, I think that would be a great idea for making the koi, but I’m concerned about the edges peeling up over time as this item will be getting dirtier and washed more than most of our typical pieced projects. Hopping over to find Laura now thing as I do what to do some collage work soon! Her name sounds familiar. Seems like someone recommended her a few months ago! Thank you for bringing her to my attention!

Taking that first step into the unknown can be paralyzing! 😅 I wish I could think of a way to prevent moisture from the top to seep through to the back of the mug rug, and still have the thing quilted. I don’t see how that’s possible though unless a waterproof or water resistant backing material goes on the back after the piece is quilted. Idk 🤷🏼‍♀️ Thank you for the kind words and for watching!🙏🏻

@@LakesideQuiltmakingArts typically a coaster is not dual sided. Some of mine have cork on the bottom. Hmm…. I also was thinking maybe fabric that’s used for feet pajamas. It would cause the rug to not slip and would be somewhat water resistant. I wouldn’t use it until after the free motion quilting, speaking from experience. It truly is nonslip. 🙄

Thank you. The lady I gave my things to was most appreciative. Her husband had had a stroke and she was mostly housebound. A caregiver like me. I had hidden silk threads and thimbles and various things among the fabrics. Like a treasure hunt. She will make things that bring her joy. My sister put my stash on a neighborhood Facebook thing. She was the first to respond and I loaded it all up and took it to her. I always shake my head ( in awe) at your tenacity and eagerness to learn new things. Keep that needle moving. I will order one of your hoodies when I get back to Texas.

This reminds me of when I sold all my dress shoes when my mobility began to change. I had quite the nice collection of heels and such. I waited two years and then put them on Facebook marketplace. A man I barely knew could not buy the entire lot of them quickly enough. He came to my house to load them up and take them back to work. The administrative assistant for his group was a single mother barely making ends meet. This was his way of telling her thank you for her service. That made my heart happy ya know…. So much good came out of me letting go of a season. 🤍🎉 Thank you for sharing your story with me/us! I’m so glad that lady was blessed!
