    Buy walking from the back of the parking lot to stay fit, you just opened yourself up to getting ambushed in the parking lot. If you want to walk for exercise, do it in the store. Some of these store are huge. Just walk every isle, then get to your car parked close by as quickly as you can and lock the door as soon as you get in. Always keep the doors locked, at home or in your car.

      The idea behind walking through the parking lot is to NOT get ambushed in congested parking areas. Most parking lot crimes happen near the entrance of the store, where victims are most vulnerable.

    Some of my car door locks malfunction, so I manually check while walking around the car. Also circle car when getting back in after shopping. Gas stations, kwiki marts and yes, even Wal mart attract sketchy people. Especially at night. I go by a person's energy first. I have met nice people who fit the "sketchy" profile dress list.

    When at a gas station I lock my car doors while pumping gas so no one can easily jump in my car. also if they are trying to car jack my car I can run and with my fob in hand and my phone with me instead of my car they can’t get in the car and I have the ability to call for help. I don’t think someone is going to try to draw that much attention to themselves by running after me by separating themselves from what they wanted in the first place and drawing attention to themselves.

    A lot of crimes happen at gas stations. You are distracted by pumping gas, your car is often unlocked (with your purse inside if you're female) and it can be kind of deserted. Don't gas up at night. Lock your car and have your keys in your pocket while you pump your gas. Keep your head on a swivel and watch your surroundings. I've had some sketchy encounters at freeway exit gas stations while traveling. Thugs hang out there, just waiting for opportunities to show up. Once they strike, they are on the freeway and gone into the ether.

Once I was followed by a young man in an underground bus stop in a parking garage. I saw him following me and turned around and put my hands on my hips and stared at him. (the Angry Mom pose). He turned and walked quickly away. I always have a weapon on me, and also a very loud whistle, just in case.

    Fellow Missourian here. Thank you for the tips. At 67 yrs old and having bad knees, I often feel like a target walking across parking lots with my bulky, conceal carry purse. A tip I've been working on implementing is to only carry what's needed for that destination. If it's a grocery store, only carry a credit card in my back pocket (along with membership card, if separate, for places like Costco or Sam') I need to get more comfortable carrying my protection on my person, but I do have mace. I took a self defense class with my grown daughters when I moved here.

    • @SilverSurvival
      @SilverSurvival День назад

      It’s wise to only carry what you need! I even recommend that people use and carry a GasBuddy card for use at the pump. You get a better price on the gas, and the card is only good for gas, and your funding source can be removed in seconds, in case of loss or theft. If you’re exercising CCW rights, please maintain your training level. It is a very perishable skill, and needs constant attention. Thanks for sharing!

Now that we are on the other side of that, I hope to start going again. I'll look in to the other type you mentioned. Yes, my boss is a danger to me, a “friend” was a danger to me, and I’ve had neighbors, who were a danger to me. A person’s first thought, is that I’m simply paranoid and think everyone’s out to get me. I mean, just look at them. They look nice. They’re not even thinking about me, let alone having poor intent towards me. Nope. I’ve seen their actions, which pointed towards their intent. These are slow, insidious predators, that look very lollipop. And, a parent? C’mon. They may have not put me in a full nelson, but if I didn’t have a keen eye and solid boundaries, I wouldn’t be writing this comment.

    • @SilverSurvival
      @SilverSurvival День назад

      It’s not paranoia, for sure. Actions and behaviors tell the tale, and if those actions and behaviors deviate from “normal”, it’s not up to the observer to explain it away. It’s up to the observed. And if they don’t explain it (without being asked) , be cautious!

At the gas station I lock the car door when I go in to pay, and keep aware of everything, even keeping an eye on the passenger side view mirror while filling up, only my driver door is unlocked as that is the side I am on, I know I should have that one locked as well. I have other little security measures at hand at all times. I have seen many of those women with the men some yards away. I keep car doors locked at all time when driving. If I do help out a homeless person it is only with a meal, no cash. I have felt like someone is following me because of to many same turns, I will keep driving where ever for as long as I feel needed until I feel they are gone and I can go home. It is a different world from when I was growing up, so sad now. Thanks for your videos to help us all.

    Don't hitch hike either! Same thing applies, it may be the last time anyone sees you either! Helping people who appear to be injured can get you in trouble in other ways too. They might actually be handicapped and want to do whatever they're doing by themselves. They might be sick of everyone trying to help them. If they don't ask, don't help. Yes, the "I can't hear you" is very common in the city as well. They want you to be close enough to pickpocket you or grab your purse and run. Someone tried that with me during the pandemic. I was walking inside a skyway and this individual kept asking what time it was. When I said I didn't know, he changed it to getting directions and asking to use my phone (which I didn't have), after that he wouldn't leave me alone so I led him past a useless security guard. He wouldn't ask the guard what time it was or the directions. He was whispering and unintelligible. I kept on going, hoping he would give up. He still followed me. I led him to the skyway police station and he kept on walking in the direction I was headed. I stopped at the station. He came back to me and dropped his pants offering me money for sex favors. I was disgusted and started pushing the police panic button. He realized where he was, pulled his pants up and walked away right before the police went out on another call. Everything was on camera and I got an escort to my destination. When I got back, he was waiting outside my apartment building. I snuck in the back way and called the police. He had left but I saw which way he went. They found him 5 minutes later doing the same crap with a lady with a child. He was arrested. I found out later because of a clerical error made by the city attorney's office what his name was and a few other things. I googled his name and found out that he was a repeat felony sex offender in another county, had committed home invasions, armed burglary and sex crimes with minors while breaking in homes. He was out on compassionate release. The court couldn't prosecute him because he was judged "incompetent" to stand trial. I also found out that when he was released, he did exactly the same thing to other people within 24 hours and was arrested again.

Next it was "say your a wanker" (strange but true) then i felt my arms being held by two guys behind me . Then it was "youve got till i count to 30 to say it" "one two three" The two interrogators (a solid built guy my age and a larger , dark skinned hardass maybe 15 yrs) both punched my face with three massive blows . I still remember the look of the white ones fists ! Im on hunched over on the ground in shock it seemed like pints of blood were flowing all over my front from my freshly broken nose. And ill never forget the elderly coulpe who walked up very close and the woman said "dont hit him while he's bleeding" (Good one granny) One of the arm holders guys then removed all the air from both my tires i was allowed to leave my beloved park on that bright sunny Sunday afternoon , pushing my bike slowly and in a daze. Lesson learned. Never ignore your instinct. Ive guided many teens n young alults to identify instinct when allerts you of danger . Many times my instinct has allerted/saved me from serious work accidents , car vs train near miss and once during a 2day race meeting on a 600cc screamer. Rain had set in for the day ...then for some reason i had a strong feeling that i should not race on my freshly prepared 'wet bike' ... instead transfer its wheels n wet tyres" onto the bike im more at home with. It still feel wierd now ... because (you guessed it!) When i put the wet bike up on the race stands to remove the wheels i needed...THE LEFT (Alloy clipon) HANDLEBAR SNAPPED LIKE A CARROT , CLEAN OFF IN MY HAND. (previous owner had weleded to save $120nz) . I like your channel and agree with your message = trust/act on instinct . Good man. Cheers

      I had an almost EXACT experience, oddly enough on my home styled BMX bike, in a local sand pit. A gang of teenagers got me cornered and gave me a beat down, with humiliation tactics and beating. Both tires cut on the bike. I never went back to that place, and never went against that weird gut feeling again.

    Only Jesus Saves ❤ but these days you need a prayer on your lips and eyes in the back of your head. Trust the extra sensory perception that God gave you.

    It's sad that this is where we're at in this country now. Our society has gone to sh!t in so many areas. I was fortunate to live in a small town that was about as safe as it gets. Unfortunately, thanks to our current administration, those days are gone. Obama's policies brought the inner city out to rural towns, some became part of our communities while others went back to where they came from or to prison. We're all for giving second chances and helping immigrants get a fresh start, but those are not the kinds of people being spread throughout small towns and cities across the country under this administration. I have yet to see one woman or child on any of these vans, but I've seen plenty of pushy, rude, obnoxious, young men that think they own whatever place they're in and can do whatever they want. I have realized just how vulnerable an older, single woman is in this wonderful new vision for America. The gang violence in our larger cities keeps increasing with every load they dump on us, but we're still better than a lot of places. At least we still punish criminals except when the feds decide to release them to continue their rampage. So far we're still allowed to defend ourselves here, so that's a blessing. So much for a peaceful retirement. I can't imagine what another 4 years of this would do to us.

    I am 71 years old and I have always been alert. I do not leave my car before checking my surroundings or if there is someone sitting in their car I make sure they know I see them. I taught my children to be alert always, they use to call me paranoid but now that they are grownups they follow my ways and stay safe. I’m from Oregon but now live in Arizona where I always carry.

      It’s always nice to see your children acting in a prudent manner, even though they disagreed with you when they were younger. Stay safe!

      He sure did. It’s amazing how well some of these criminals have so easily exploited human decency.

    Usually a bad idea to use anybody off Craigslist. A lot of them will have a criminal record and cannot get employment elsewhere.

    Try to stay away from community meals and food pantries. A lot of homeless people just looking for a fight. Also many of these people have bugs and if you get them in your house it will cost a lot of money to get rid of them. Just not worth it .

    Always a good idea to be aware of who and what is around you. Have to watch these kids walking down the street.
