I Made a Drum Machine!
Просмотров 52 тыс.Год назад
Here's a Drum machine I designed and built over the last 3 months using a Teensy 4.1 as the main brain. The total build cost was about $70, 30 of which was the Teensy itself. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I´m considering making a 2.0 version in the future that will be for sale! Here's a link to the Code, Schematics and more information about the project: github.com/albnys/Drum-Mac...
Tiny Bug - a mini glitch Synth!
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.Год назад
This is a little synth I recently built. It´s kinda based around an Atari punk console, but I added a few bits and pieces to make it more fun and experimental. Pretty fun to just mess around with and make some noise! 0:00 - Intro 0:25 - Functions 1:30 - Cool sounds
Spaces - a DIY-Synth live session!
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.2 года назад
This is a live recording using only my homemade synths. all sounds you hear comes directly from my own synths, except some reverb and delay. The only equipment used that I didn´t build myself is the Digitakt that acts as a sequencer as well as an audio interface. The modular system plays the arpeggios & all percussion. The analog Monosynth plays all bass stuff. The Guitar-synth plays all lead s...
Homemade Polyphonic Synthesizer!

This is a 6-voice polyphonic synthesizer i programmed and built from scratch using a teensy 3.5. The total build cost was around $120. Here's a link to the code and a rough schematic: (warning, it´s very messy and ugly heh) github.com/albnys/TeensyPoly6 0:00 - Intro 0:50 - Distorted Fm 1:30 - Pulsating Pad 2:10 - Saw Lead 2:30 - Spooky Fm 3:15 - Funky Chords 3:45 - Funky Bass 4:20 - Bright bell...

Homemade analog Synth-Guitar!

0:00 Bass sound 0:50 Saw Lead 2:18 Ambient Lead 3:07 "Guitar" Lead 4:04 Walkthrough Fully analog, fully homemade guitar-synth Built from scratch, based on a few different schematics aswell as a few own designs for some of the functions. The Curtain - Snarky Puppy & Metropole Orkest - *Full* orchestral transctiption
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.3 года назад
This is not an actual full transcription of the orchestra. I´m pretty sure I messed up the instrumentation here and there and probably also missed some parts in alot of places. But this is the best I could do. Here´s a pdf of the transcription: drive.google.com/file/d/1KCc8zgG8wRZCCh05ftOZ0BuKbb7k21T1/view?usp=sharing
nice work!
Hmm.. I couldn’t figure out how to update firmware without pushing the button on the Teensy which is not reachable inside the Crum Drum. Can anyone help me on MacOS with Teensy loader? EDIT: OK, I have loosened some screws and nuts of the pot and could push the button with inserting a popsicle stick…
This sounds pretty cool👍. Thx for still supporting the Crum Drum with new firmware.
Hey, thanks for using the Crum Drum! 🎵
liked this !
Genius 🎉
Respect - great job!
hey great work..!! would this also potentially work with the teensy4.0 microprocessor? the 3.5 is deprecated. How much effort do you think is to port your code for the 4.0
I Love The Synth but I'm not going to build It because you're schematic is SO Basic that I Just Can't Figure It Out, sorry. Could help a lot If you also draw how all pins are connected to the pots.
In love with all your incredibly impressive work! Would kill for a parts list to make something even half as majestic as this if you'd even recall it still or have one anywhere!
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 necesito intentarlo .....
Congrats on the CD 2! we just saw it
Thank you very much! It's very exciting!
Hi just found this on youtube one question where do you get the keyboards from I cant find the keyboards anywhere on the internet
It's simply an old Midi-keyboard that I bought for $10 and took apart!
@@AlbertNystrom Ok thanks
Im sure youve heard this a thousand times BUT would you consider selling a kit???
I have considered it, but if I were to do it I would probably have to do a lot of changes to make it more compact and reliable etc. :)
sounds good! 👍
Amazing
I wonder what happened to the original. I've been looking for the piano solo to play along for a while. Thanks for this!
Yeah, I don't know why it was removed.
Thanks for this. I can't access the old version anymore 😢
Yeah, that's to bad!
Sounds great. Is this FM synthesis. Reminds me of my Model Cycles but with an analog filter
Yes, it's a mix of both FM and subtractive synthesis. No analog filter 😉
The filter sounds really good on some of those sounds, but I don't know what it was about late 80s drum machines and kick drums that sound like you're punching a wet mattress. The "rap" and "house" kits are embarassing
hej Albert! i just finished building my Crum Drum! i'm having a lot of fun with it! Any chance you might add some more MIDI parameters via a Teensy software update? i'd like to map the other controls in Ableton
love this
Especially with the original video taken down, this is a gift. Reading the transcription along with the video has brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
Didn't know the original was taken down. Thats a shame! Well, I'm happy that you appreciate the transcription! ☺️
Schyrrebyrreh! Fläskigt.!
Man tackar!
@@AlbertNystrom Jag spanade in Crum i länken. Trevligt.!
Amazing work!! Really unique pure analog sounds!
Thanks! It's 100% digital though! 😉
Wow thank you so much! Been looking for this
Is there anywhere in the UK selling built versions of this beastie?
Yeh will the full assembled version be available again? Is it possible to order one fully made otherwise? Thanks a lot for the amazing device!
There are not currently anywhere to buy pre-built versions. But I'm considering making another round of pre-built units in the future!
Ooh ! I’m interested in a built one ❤
Love the grittiness! Sounds awesome!
I'm truly believe for every expensive good, there's somebody when they saw the price said "Fck it, I'll make my own"
Thank you! I'll try to make my first digital synth with this!
There is something so addicting about the generative randomness paired with excellent sounds. I feel like I could easily just listen to the Crum Drum forever. Thank u!
Hey, thank you very much!
dammit
yeah, what you're doing, is good
yes, it is good.
Why don't you sell these? Make it worth your while.
I'll let you in on a secret: If it took 3 months to build, the cost was not $70. It was 3 months of time you'll never get back, plus $70.
don't be so upset
Very nice work.
In the schematic you say that the tempo knob is not conected to 3,3 v. Haw do you connect it?
Это дятел какой то для выноса мозга.
hi, has anyone tried to modify this fantastic project and insert a Sync input? would be great. I bought the crum drum kit, but I would like to have this alongside it... it would be wonderful to be able to synchronize it.
I would like to buy one but it seems that it is not possible
That thing is fire. I would buy it if it were in production. Kudos.
Thanks! :) A new, updated more capable version is available here: www.thonk.co.uk/shop/crum-drum/
@@AlbertNystrom Wow, cool.
I am loving my crumdrum, but I'm having an issue. If I have sync-in connected, it won't sync-out (drumbrute is the source, freaq-fm is the next device in the chain). Is this expected behavior? Is there a workaround?
Yes, that's expected behaviour. The device does not have sync-through. Unfortunately there's no workaround using the Crum Drum currently.
i built this right now for my friend (he isnt friend of solder) and its fucking COOL !!! its like dfam on steroids ... Good job Albert!!! i wanted to ask , is there any chance this will go opensource sometimes? or it is possible to buy only teensy? iam not that rich guy as my friend is so i need basically only teensy with code, perfboard and my soldering skills :)
Would be great to get a video on syncing the crum drum to different devices (Kastle Dum, sq 1, etc). I'm having trouble getting it to sync to the Kastle Drum.
Fantastic!
THIS IS JUST FANTASTIC! well done for building this amazing synth. i've been trying to understand and get around the idea of making and owning a synth of mine. forgive me if i ask too much but is it possible to share which components did you use ? except teensy 3.5. thank you so much.
great demo, Albert. thank you for this magical groove box. i bought one. amen. 😁🙏
Thank you! Hope you enjoy it! 😁💥
Sounds nice but u have to fix the ground noise, i think its from the midi cable
Can't find it for sale online
It's available at Thonk.co.uk
I’m noticing a nasty hum/buzz from usb power. Have you found a way to eliminate this?
