@ThisTruckingLife that would be cool.. from a person who hasn't had a bit of trucking to now has been incredible.. Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and West Virginia.. also Long Island "NY City" states and places I've been to so far.

How long does it take working as an associate (3 months?, 6 months?, 1 yr?) until you could apply for associate to driver program? I'm a trucker since 2006. No driver job here in Atlanta, GA. So I'm thinking of working as an associate for a few months, then switch to driver.

That's a hard one. Talk to your boss about the associate to driver program.

When I passed on boarding they gave me the blue one. My DC sells all different kinds. It goes toward a charity.

I’d like to piggy back off this question. How is the experience verified? I’m at the bottom of the board as a local p&d driver and I work the dock a lot. So I don’t drive everyday. Would that cause an issue with the minimum 30 months?

No. Unless you do the associate to driver.

Yes online i believe they specify "interstate" ...if you go to other states you might be fine. Only one way to know for sure. Apply and see what they say! Good luck !

30 months min mandatory, they will call your previous employers to verify your driving experience. That is an fmcsa thing all trucking companies do. Another option is working for Walmart for 6-12 months(not sure) Walmart offers an associate to driver program. Training for like 3 months and if you pass, you become a Walmart driver. I’m sure Everett can confirm. I’ve been driving for Walmart for a 1 1/2 years

@@jakebutler5532depending on your LTL company I would stay dock work is easy and good money, Walmart is veryyyyy over hyped there pay and how they designed is dumb. They won’t pay you for a double drop at stores if you have too (called a courtesy pull) and it’s a lot cause the drivers are lazy and won’t free up a spot at the store at the docks. Plus you only get $15 an hour for delay after 45 mins of sitting which is trash and their benefits are expensive and not great, plus they are strict they watch your move and those trucks. Honestly the only thing Walmart has is the PTO is good but most people ADP and that how they run their average is weird GM average $325 a day to maybe high $375 a day witch is okay but you have to WORK long and hard for your 14 hour clock everyday. To truly make good money there you have to one extend and live in the truck and slip seat constantly or two recruit guys how a lot of these guys do and get the bonus or work nights at a grocery DC and get the premium pay and extra pay on the weekends. But seriously really do your research on Walmart it’s very very over hyped. Unless your an older guy with no family go ahead but if I was you stay LTL way better.
