Happy ABSOLUTE NEW YEAR!......lolol.... Not only did these books NOT fail, but are now the biggest books of 2024! And they way things are progressing, will be the best books of 2025 as well. Already surpassing Marvel's Ultimate universe which is still unfolding across several titles. Absolute did it with three titles and only 3 issues each, so far. And if you think that there is nothing to be said about that you would be wrong. The Absolute Universe came at the end of the year, after Ultimate SM, after Avengers Twilight, after Doom, and so many that came out. All chart toppers. So not only did it have to impress to do well, in order to compete it had to contend with many, many, good titles. At the beginning of 2024 I said it would be a good year for comics, story wise, and I was right. The writing was on the wall. The big 2 knew they had to get back to telling good stories. And they did just that. My biggest disappointment of 2024 is undoubtedly ASM. I was so let down by both the story and the art that I gave up. And the new writer they have coming on to the book doesn't signal inspiration either. But yeah, I gotta say, I'm glad you were wrong, but not surprised.

I think your confusing DC All-star and Earth One. All star didnt last long they only did superman and Batman and they didn't even finish the 12 Issue batman series. Earth One did alot more

Bruh I gotta type a novel and I’m only 60 seconds in. if “The Batman” movie didn’t just absolutely ooze out Batman atmosphere then idk what to tell you. You might just be biased towards Robert Pattinson, because saying that “wasn’t a Batman experience” when it’s literally the best adaptation I’ve seen of him so far on the big screen is insane. The shot of him after he was “baptized” in what will be Batman’s goal moving forward: protecting the innocent, not punishing the guilty. He understands that before cutting that live wire then arises to lead the people through the darkness. How did NONE of that resonate as some of the most iconic Batman shit you’ve ever seen on screen? I mean his whole arc is realizing he can’t just experience Batman’s life, he has to live Bruce Wayne’s as well to protect the people of Gotham. It felt like a comic ripped from the pages and dumped straight onto the screen.

The problem I have with race swapping is how uncreative, lazy and insincere it is. Instead of exploring and utilizing more of their already established diverse characters like Katana, Vixen, Steel, Thunderbird and Black lightning . They just race swap some random white character to collect browny points. I can't count how many red headed characters have been race swapped to black, Iris West, Wally West, Jimmy Olsen, Lightning lad and MJ that's only at the top of my head. Katana only had one solo comic and vixen hasn't had any solo comics.

I don't care about race swapping as long as it is done without any regard to race. For instance, I would totally be down for Idris Elba to play James Bond even though actual James Bond is Scottish. Because he has that masculine charisma going for him, he would make a great James Bond. Now making James Bond black for "representation" is completely moronic. Same as making James Bond more accessible for women. It's the ultimate male fantasy (go on adventures, save the day and sleep with beautiful women while doing it) it doesn't need to be anything other than that.
