Just your average family man, having adventures with my family, exploring in my Van, Paramotoring in the beautiful British countryside or making something in my workshop.
Chasing Spoon
Someone got a PPG Chase Camera for his birthday!
I thought I would try it out!
Chasing Spoon (Leo) in and around the only cloud we could reach.
Cold? Yes!
Would do it again? 100% Yes!
Track: Percussion Show - Igor Khainskyi

A Strange Year - 2020

Flying between lockdowns, did as much flying as I could. These are some of the best flights I had, shared with my good friends.
Raw Flight From 20th Januray 2020 - Corona Virus causing a lockdown!
Просмотров 1314 года назад
So, at the time of publishing this, the United Kingdom (like a lot of the world) is in a lock down. I am uploading this ‘Raw’ footage, in hope that its just something to watch whilst everyone is at home looking after each other. Backstory This flight took place back in January of 2020, over the beautiful British countryside. This was the first flight I did with a camera attached to my helmet. I...
Zero Wind Chill Out Session
Просмотров 1344 года назад
Nailing a nil wind launch and landing always feels good. Don't expect quality production with this one, because sometimes is just about living in the moment. I have some more videos i'm working on, but for now just enjoy this mini chill out session.
DIY Paramotor Headset build - Bluetooth & UHF Radio Integration
Просмотров 15 тыс.4 года назад
In this episode of my 'One Man Workshop' series, I show you how I integrated a cheap Amazon Bluetooth motorcycle intercom into my Peltor ear defenders. I also use the opportunity to fit another intercom system, so I can use my UHF radio whilst I'm in flight too. This uses a DIY interface cable with a PTT (Push To Talk) button mounted in my ear cup for easy use. This is not aimed to be a tutoria...
The get pads are kina hard to find locally. The builders can't afford them.
I've made a similar headset this weekend but with a cloth aviator cap as I'm an ultralight pilot. The cap was modelled around a medical anatomy bust! All the wiring is on the headset and the cap is just to stop the Peltor X5 ear defenders blowing off my head.
I'm using using a Cardo Spirit HD BT headset and I found wiring the mic boom at the front of the ear defender across my face to be best.
Thanks for the video. Here's my version ruclips.net/video/vIVhbjpqGsk/видео.html
Awesome work Ben!
@ 5:30 - Genius!
Great job. So clean and nice
17:26 Use a lavalier microphone between your ear and headset
Cool! Waiting for the ANR version, now...
Well done mate!!! impressive
If some people are looking for cheapest way to do that, search "Walkie talkie Bluetooth headset Handsfree radtel" on AliExpress. the kit cost me 30 dollars, walkie talkie and smartphone connected simultaneously for call and music (talkie priority), and a stand-alone ptt button (a button also on the headset!). Easy to do inside Peltor X5P3 ! Just be careful with your type of connection on talkie (type K, M, and other)
Bloody fantastic!
Hey... any chance you can share the file for the laser?
Of course, I'll get you a link as soon as I can
Hey, just a reminder.. 😁 thanks
Awesome video!!!
Nice edit!
Could someone please explain to me why it is necessary to use additional mics and speakers? Why can't you use one mic and one set of speakers and route them to two devices (Radio and BT-Module)? Are their resistance/impedace too far apart from each other? Thank you in advance!
Love the chase cam perspective 👌
Sweet flight, and great editing dude to the music, fun to watch...
Short and sweet edit.
Holy moly what a beautiful sight‼️ And that was definitely some fantastic editing🤙🏻🪂
Great cinematography and a beautiful flight
Dang, this video makes we want to brave the cold and fly?
Nice video Ben., loving your new style. You'll have to show me some editing tips.
Nice edit 👍 Beautiful weather and country
very good
I want that magazine!
Yeeeeeeeerrrrrr bio!!!!
As Giles said, nifty little edit that 😉
That was some very clever editing. You've achieved so much this year despite the world fighting us.
Thanks Giles. I have GBs worth of footage of me boating around the sky. It would be a shame not to quickly share my view 😊
Loving the footage buddy 🤘🏻 am off for another tandem paragliding flight this week, gotta stack the cash from work over then next few months to get me in the air!! What part of uk are you in??
Thanks Dude! I'm down in the South on the Dorset/Wiltshire border. Yea keep putting it away, it's worth it!
ClippedWing - Ben Smith haha so you are more a farmer than well spoken... 😉😂 I’m in Portsmouth... a proper common islander... hoping to be airborne in The next year once my sciatica has decided to do1 and given me a break lol...
@@fromthegroundtotheclouds978 well if you are around Devon at some point in the covid free future, pop into Parajet. I'm the Ops manager so feel free to come see what we're about. I hope it goes soon. Its awful!
ClippedWing - Ben Smith ahh right! Fair enough! So you know ya stuff then Buddy 🤘🏻 yeah it’s a right pain mate, been two years so far and it’s only just starting to ease up slightly 🤦🏻♂️ but once I good I’ll be popping In For sure!
Very impressive! Thanks
Cool
Wow.. good video and explanation...
FN amazing! I was looking into building one for my ultra-light. Looked everywhere for the type of connector (mini xlr) to be able to remove the cable on my full face helmet for when I ride a snowmobile or a motorcycle. The quality of your video, editing, information etc is just speechless. Thanks for sharing! 1000’s of likes 👍🏻✌🏻
Thank you for your kind comments! It did take a little while to edit! Yes the mini XLR is a great connector to use!
Hi Dude, great video. Have you come across any with Sidetone? I understand the Sena 30,60 and 90k have it but I’m hoping to purchase something a little cheaper. Thanks - Toby
Hello Toby! Thanks for watching! Nothing for sidetone at the moment (its a nice feature to have) but im still working on it. The Sena are lovely options but we'll put of my budget still at the moment! A common theme I guess!
Those conditions looked peachy. At least you have flown this year. We will fly again.
You couldn't ask for better conditions to fly! You could say it was 'Butter' ✈️
Great build! Nice and tidy finish. That right ear cup look like a sea mine!
Hi Ben, your left speaker is parallel wired to the 5V charging supply. How did you manage to not burn your speaker? Great job though!
Well spotted! I did change it as I noticed at the last moment. It now uses the other pin for audio. I have made a few changes so will update my video soon! Thanks for your nice comments!
How much would u charge me one to build one for me
Glad you had a great flight. Hearing your sounds of joy at the end, just shows how much aviation adds to our lives.
Definitely, I think I was just excited that I had a good take off and landing! Wasn't expecting to get out to fly!
Beauty, was this from today?
Yes, grabbed the last little bit of calm weather before this storm hits!
ClippedWing - Ben Smith likewise, glad it’s light enough to fly before work now. This weekends weather looks like crap 😬
Snot in da eye 😂
Haha! Sweet chill sesh! Was that where they landed for the Icarus?
Not this one, the Icarus one was half the size and 4ft tall crop all around!
Nice DIY!! Does it have noise cancellation? -- Edit, Just seen in comments it does not 😁 Cheers
Neat build, definitely a step further than I went with mine, kudos to your sir.
Nice to see you flying! Last time we caught up at Parafest if you remember, you were just about ready to fly! I was on the Parajet stand!
@@clippedwing-bensmith1614 Thanks man, I remember it well! Unfortunately I never got the old Solo off the ground regardless i'm loving flying and hoping to be at a good few fly in this year, might see you round.
This is awesome. Do you think it would be possible to add Active Noise Cancelling to the system?
Hello Harry, I'm sure there is a way. I have found though that I don't really need it at the moment though. It performs well bit I will be something I'll look into in the future!
@@clippedwing-bensmith1614 After I used some Noise Cancelling Headphones on an airline flight, it blew me away how much easier it was to listen to audio. Since then I've been looking for someone who makes a helmet headset that has ANC built-in, but so far no luck.
I think the ideal set-up would be to have the ANC mic inside the earcup, so it's only cancelling the sound that makes it through the passive sound insulation.
I definitely have the space! I'll look into it for sure!
@@clippedwing-bensmith1614 If you ever fancy making another set, (with ANC or just the same as yours) I'd happily pay for your expertise. That setup looks great.
Great job. Very easy to follow. I built my comm helmet too. Yours is better :' )
Tha ks for your nice comments! Took me longer than I expected to build but it was my first go, and I wanted it to last for as long as the helmets in service!
Great job and nice vid, looking forward to seeing you flying - subbed 👍
Thanks very much for subscribing! I'm looking forward to some better weather!
Good work...
Thanks very much Sam!
@@clippedwing-bensmith1614 Yes Good work. I did a video on sena integration on my "ParaTard" channel. I had had a few glasses of wine though :-)
@@sexonlegs666 ah I remember watching that! Also a great video!
Oh yeah sign me up; sub'd. That was a VERY cool build.
Ah thanks very much Johnny! That means a lot! Happy New year!
Love it dude.
Blaise Brogan I total agree blaise. Nice chap.
Thanks! Works a treat!
