Got to stay with our favorite dive resort (Scandi divers!!) again this year before moving from Guam! As part of our package, we got to dive Verde Island. If you are diving the Philippines, Verde Island needs to be on your scuba-safari bucket list. Just a quick video of swimming with a hawksbill. ♥️ The Hawksbill Sea Turtle is listed as Endangered within the United States due to habitat reduction and adults being captured for illegal animal trading or eating plastic thinking it’s a jellyfish. Throughout the world they’re considered to be Critically Endangered and at risk of extinction.

We just came back from Puerto Galera, Philippines! Dove with Scandi Divers! If you’re looking for a dive shop in the PG, Scandi Divers is incredible!! The diversity of sea life in PG was just amazing. The best diving we’ve ever experienced!
How to deploy your DSMB!

Karin. My very first guide here in Guam and I made a friend for life. She’s the sweetest human being and I wish all the best for her. She reached out to me and wanted to know if I had any good recommendations for DSMB videos on RUclips and I couldn’t find any I really liked, so I made my own! First day back in the water (on the surface!) for a PADI Aware Sea Turtle class - hosted by my dive bestie/instructor Dara Davis at CSI:Coastal Scuba Instruction! Got to see ALL the things (nudi!, shark, eels, fish) and swam with a hawksbill! So happy to have been back in the water ♥️ I could stay all day. Awesome fish life
Hooray! A decent-sized SMB with a decent amount of air in it so it is fully inflated at the surface. Typical UK dive runs like this: Stay on the wreck (or the reef if the party's interest is life, not mangled rust). Blob up at the end. Say there is a swell and some surface chop and it's coming on to rain. You're the skipper and you have 6 pair in the water. Six teeny, thin SMBs is bloody hard work, even with a deckhand, even if they are fully -inflated. Give me big 'uns every time and as a diver, be safe, be seen.
Safety stops nearly over by the time that’s up
I usually deploy at the start of a safety stop, but for this demo, I had already finished my safety stop according to my computer :)
You don't deploy it from 15 feet. You deploy it at depth so the boat can see you. Tie a knot in your cord 15ft. below the marker. You can slowly ascend, winding up the cord, and stop at the knot for 3-5 min. Really need to have this down if you drift dive.
@@darrellbrackett7948 If you're doing a square profile dive you're right, but depends what you're doing. You might be diving on a pinnacle that's shotted at 30m and ends at 5m. Gives you an hour's dive with no deco.
Which side of the island was that? I was at Verde island 3 years ago and it was very damaged :(

Best video yet, of shooting a longer open bottom. It's exactly like mine. Mine is the Amazon special 6'. I'm going to try it out tomorrow for the first time. Understanding the proper technique to avoid freeflow or entanglement.
