Don't React, Reflect: How Our Ideas Create Our Reality
Western thought--science, religion, and each one of us all day long--misses a fundamental truth about reality. Why do we let other people's words bother us? How can we see our condition more clearly and move forward personally and collectively in a more helpful way given the actual reality.
I look forward to seeing your comments and questions.

Disengaging from Your Roles Makes You Better in Your Roles

Spirituality is about identifying with some unnameable background essential you your greater self, your awareness, your Soul, Atman, or whatever you want to call it. Our Reality Status: It's Complicated

Yes, Jesus facilitated "miraculous" phenomena. But these are nothing unique in the wider context of human experience and Eastern spirituality. Subjectively rooted westernized science is a tool used to justify the existence of its subjective and delusional socially constructed perceptions of objective real life. Both science and the supernatural are based on socially constructed concepts rooted in subjectivity. Both concepts are used to hide objective real life. Both concepts are at odds internally, externally and conflict and or contradict objective real life. Just look at the Out of Africa Hypothesis that's been pushed as a theory even when there is no real evidence to support it as a hypothesis or theory.

    • @SparkWrites
      @SparkWrites 13 дней назад

      Thank you, James. All human experience is subjectively rooted. And it sounds like we agree that many ideas we take as true are in fact socially constructed. Herd mentality lurks everywhere even in the hallowed halls of our esteemed institutions. It's up to each of us to investigate as clear-eyed as we can the questions that matter to us. I wouldn't say science and the supernatural are used to hide objective real life, but I do think they can cartoonify reality in the way any simplistic, abstract ideas can.

    Since Jesus left nothing in writing - and neither did anyone who'd ever _met_ Jesus, as far as we can tell - you know almost nothing about the real Jesus. All you've got is the storybook Jesus. And stories aren't always true. All you've got is the wishful-thinking Jesus, don't you?

    • @SparkWrites
      @SparkWrites 21 день назад

      Hi Bill. You're right that we have no writings from him or anyone who met him, which is why we need to be careful about what to believe and look at the history. But the Jesus revealed by the gospels resonates too deeply with spiritual wisdom before and since, and is also too much an affront to conventional wisdom, to be the creation of a calculating mind. I talk about this in subsequent parts of this series. For instance, I compare moralistic "story-book" fables of the kind Aesop wrote with some of the more challenging, mysterious, and vital stories told by and about Jesus. I also look at Jesus in the context of Eastern masters. Jesus needs to be appreciated in the widest possible context---wider than a dogmatic religious viewpoint obviously, but also wider than secular historians and scientists generally go too.

    • @Bill_Garthright
      @Bill_Garthright 20 дней назад

      @@SparkWrites _"which is why we need to be careful about what to believe"_ Yes. But _are_ you careful? Do you have one piece of good evidence, specific enough and in enough detail that I can judge it for myself, that your god is real, rather than just imaginary? Or one piece of good evidence that _any_ of the magical/supernatural stories in the Bible actually happened? If not, why do you believe this stuff? After all, evidence is how we distinguish reality from delusion and wishful-thinking. _"But the Jesus revealed by the gospels resonates too deeply with spiritual wisdom before and since, and is also too much an affront to conventional wisdom"_ Unfortunately, that's completely subjective and entirely indistinguishable from wishful-thinking. _"I compare moralistic "story-book" fables of the kind Aesop wrote with some of the more challenging, mysterious, and vital stories told by and about Jesus."_ Do you never talk with Muslims? They make the same kind of argument for Islam. It _has_ to be real because their book is just so _special,_ don't you know? No other book in the world can come close to the Quran,... according to them. Of course, how much you like a book - or a story - is entirely subjective. And yeah, religious people typically like the ones they were taught to believe as a child. But that means nothing when it comes to the _truth_ of those stories. Thanks, but I still need more than wishful-thinking.

      These are big and rich topics you bring up and I have written and spoken about them in my books and videos including this video: ruclips.net/video/txHpadppQYk/видео.html and this video ruclips.net/video/-TK1FHTl5IY/видео.html. The kind of evidence you are requiring is the same kind science demands. It's collective, apparently consistent, and preferably measurable. That kind of evidence is valid, but it's a subset of human experience. It doesn't contain human experience. Human experience contains it. To privilege that kind of evidence is to make a subjective, human choice. It is to act on another kind of faith, with its own unquestioned beliefs. This unavoidable interpenetration of the objective and subjective is in fact an element in the "the perennial philsoophy" which Jesus--and many others--have spoken for. I don't believe that the Bible or the Gospels is special in the sense you imply--a privileged, holy book any more than the Koran is. I'm not arguing that. I'm saying the opposite in fact, that Jesus spoke to a universal truth that you can find in many places.

    • @SparkWrites
      @SparkWrites 13 дней назад

      To clarify/add to the above: I'm not claiming I have proven anything to you. I do hope I have clarified (above and in other videos/books) the human condition, which is that operating on the basis of unprovable premises/axioms/assumptions/articles of faith is unavoidable--even in science and math. And the number of people who agree on those unprovable assumptions is no measure of their truth or helpfulness. "Nothing worthy proving can be proven." (Tennyson).

    • @Bill_Garthright
      @Bill_Garthright 12 дней назад

      @@SparkWrites _"operating on the basis of unprovable premises/axioms/assumptions/articles of faith is unavoidable"_ So what? I never ask for proof. But that's your excuse for just believing whatever you _want_ to be true, regardless of the evidence? Well, that's entirely up to you. But I care about the truth of _my_ beliefs. And wishful-thinking isn't a reliable path to the truth. _"Nothing worthy proving can be proven."_ Again, I don't ask for proof. I _never_ ask for proof. I don't think that proof is even _possible_ in the real world - not just about gods, but about anything. No, I just ask for evidence. Indeed, I just asked for *one piece of good evidence, specific enough and in enough detail that I can judge it for myself.* That's because evidence is how we distinguish reality from delusion and wishful-thinking, and I care about the truth. But *one* was too much to ask of you. Apparently, you have *nothing* distinguishable from wishful-thinking backing up your religious beliefs. Well, that's why I can't even take your beliefs seriously, let alone believe them myself. PS. Thanks for the reply. Almost all objective history scholars agree there is no valid evidence that Jesus ever existed as either God or mortal man. His existence is a fraud - possibly the biggest fraud ever perpetrated in human history. Recommend people read "Jesus from Outer Space" by Dr R Carrier and other objective books on the subject

    • @SparkWrites

      Thanks for this, Peter. I ran across no non-religious history scholars who believe Jesus is fictitious so I'm curious on what basis you say “almost all objective history scholars” believe this. But regardless of that issue, the Jesus revealed by the gospels resonates too much with spiritual wisdom before and since and is too much an affront to conventional wisdom to be the creation of a calculating/hoaxing mind. I addressed this in the subsequent parts of this series of videos. The book you mentioned looks interesting! I may check it out.

And by measuring inside of you, you get the answer you seek. And you can cross reference by having it peer reviewed by others with very similar instruments of measuring.
