Elizabeth Přemyslovna & Her Family's Comedic Power Struggles
The short story of Elizabeth Premyslovna of Bohemia is a wealth of strange occurrences that seem almost comical. She had the strength to seize power for herself and to search for that power even when sidelined. Her journey from a princess to a queen to a mother left in poverty by her husband was marked by the quarrels of her dysfunctional family of Habsburg progenitors.

Urraca of Leon - The Bold & The Reckless
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.8 месяцев назад
History records relatively little of the woman known as the first queen regnant in Europe. Empress Urraca of Castile and Leon fought her husband, her half-sister, and many others to secure her place on her throne which nobody seemed to see as hers. And as she was an Empress in her own right in the Middle Ages, she was bound to earn her two contrasting monikers-the Bold and the Reckless. Website...

Many have heard the story of the Queen of Castile, who, tragically, went mad. But, as always, there was a lot more to it. The tragic story of Juana la Loca features a horrible father, husband, and son, and a young woman being locked up for more than forty years. Happy International Women's Day! OTMA - The Four Romanov Daughters

The four daughters of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia are famous for their bloody deaths at very young ages. They were, by all accounts, delightful people to be around, not just because of their royal status. The eldest, Olga, rejected many suitors to stay with her family. The second sister, Tatiana, was known to be quite beautiful and to carry herself in a very regal manner. The third sister, Maria...

Fun fact, Sophia of Hanover was chosen to be the heir presumptive over her grand-niece Frederica Mildmay, the Countess of Mértola, due to the fact that Frederica's grandfather (Sophia's older brother) married his second wife Marie Luise von Degenfeld without getting consent from his first wife, Charlotte of Hesse-Kassel, to divorce. Under local civil and religious law, this arguably made their marriage bigamous and it was legally considered to be "morganatic", which prevented titles from being passed down to children, thus Sophia was considered to be more legitimate. Had this marriage been taken seriously however, Frederica Mildmay would have been made queen, and her descendant, Anthea Theresa Lycett, a British aristocrat born in 1954 would be Queen today.

The Majority of the people listed in the video were likey illegitimate children, but i don't think Ethelreda Malte was the child, as her mother was a low ranking laundress and henry would pick his mistresses at court, and the actual identity of her mother and the circumstances are very anonymous, so its likely just Elizabeth Tailboys and Catherine Carey

@@TheRoyalWomen Yep. I think unlike Charles she's still more in the realm of "people at least mildly interested in history definitely know about her" than "everyone knows about her" the way Maria Theresa of the Habsburgs is; but when it comes to Czech queens, she's definitely up there. There's that period of infighting and attempts to seize the throne by marriage, and she came on top - even if, sadly, it did not really work out for her.

No! She was not unpopular, it was thing that the free part of the greek nation disliked like the fact that the king was papist and the queen a prot reigning in a deeply orthodox nation (orthodoxy was and it is a matter of identity for the greek nation) and the fact that she could not bear any children (she was suffering by a rare syndrome) but the whole thing of the eviction was a british plot and initiation and nothing else to punish Otto for his pro-russian position in the Crimean War.
