    pebble trays are one of the oldest bad plant myths that just won't die. they don't do squat, jack, bupkes for humidity levels or increasing them appreciably over the ambient RH conditions in any open environment. (non small enclosured space). in an aquarium/terrarium, maybe. for aroids and other humidity loving plants, they're simply nonsense. get a humidifier or three and watch a whole different world unfold w/ your plants. here the RH is around 10-15% during the day, on avg.. there's only one way to get a room up to 60% RH or thereabouts, and that's w/ a humidifier. period. end of story :)

    • @RT1home
      @RT1home 8 дней назад

      Appreciate your feedback. However, Pebble trays are not a myth, as mentioned in the video they can provide a small increase to humidity levels(roughly 5%-15%). Again, this is an estimate depending an a lot of different variables. I personally have measured an increase in humidity when using multiple humidity trays in my home. If you need to drastically raise the humidity level by 50%, yes you definitely need to use a humidifier.

  • @thanostsarbos1197
    @thanostsarbos1197 8 дней назад

    Let's be honest, it will only increase the humidity by 2-3% percent. Definitely not 15% as you mentioned. And if the room is not small it might not do anything really.

    • @RT1home
      @RT1home 8 дней назад

      Hello! Appreciate the feedback. The approximate range stated in the video is 5%-15% increase which again depends on many variables. This range is based off of my own personal research as well as testing the humidity levels of my own humidity trays in my home.

    She doesn't say what the best soil is , or how deep to plant the❤ seed... Also my seeds always have a green tinge to the water along with this green clingy fluff , it doesn't appear to be inhibiting the growth or the seed looks like it's feeding it. I've just added fresh water when water got low ...what do you say ?

    • @RT1home
      @RT1home 10 дней назад

      Hello - great questions! I have a link to the specific soil we used in the video description. But you can use any loose, well draining soil mix. If planting in soil, you will want to fertilize a few times a year when the tree is still young. I plant the seed so the top half is sitting above the Soil, but if your seed is damaged or shriveled you can just leave the top inch or so exposed. As for the green tinge, if the seed is green that is ok, but if there is green fluff, it is likely mold. I would gently clean the seed with a mild soap and water and same for the glass you keep the water in and replace with fresh water after cleaned. Let me know if that helps!

    I have read on multiple sources to snip the avacado stem down to 2 inches after it reaches 6-8 inches in height. Apparently it encourages branching, but I'm struggling to butcher my little baby 😅

      Hello! I’ve been meaning to do an avocado pruning video (soon!). It is optional to cut the stem, and there are different methods for cutting. You can cut just above a node to encourage branching. You can also not cut at all and you will have a more lanky Avocado stem. Hope that helps! 🥑 🌱

It could be receiving too much sun if it looks like the leaves are burnt. Or, it could be too dry in your home, you might need to place it near a humidifier. Lastly, it could be a nutrient deficiency, you could try planting it in soil and adding some compost or fertilizer.

    • @RT1home
      @RT1home 5 месяцев назад

      Hello! You can remove the braid at any time - it will likely leave kinks in the plant if it has been braided for a long time. Your braided snake plant will continue to grow as long as the plant is still receiving adequate light and water. Snake plants grow fairly slowly, but as it grows you can continue the braid or remove the braid entirely. Hope this helps!

    • @RT1home
      @RT1home 5 месяцев назад

      I also forgot to mention, braiding the snake plant should not stunt its growth. The only thing that could stunt growth is not receiving proper sun and water or making the ties too tight could hurt or damage the plant.

      It's completely up to you and your preference! I am using polished pebbles that are approximately 1/2" in diameter - link is in the video description. But you can use larger, smaller, unpolished, found rocks, etc. If you are adding pebbles to similar sized vessels as the ones I am using in the video (drinking glass, 4" plant pot, and 6" diameter tray), I would not use any pebbles that are much larger than an 1" or they just won't fit. Hello! Great question and callout. I would use approximately: 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup alcohol and 1 tsp soap to start and double as needed pending the size of your plant. The spray bottle I am using is 16oz so I started with about 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup alcohol, and 2 tsps of soap for this plant specifically. The umbrella plant is in a 6" diameter plant pot and I should also call out I used 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. I have updated these details in the description - thanks!

      Hello! I would say pruning is optional. You can trim the stem if you want it to grow back thicker or branch out, but it is not necessary. I have a bunch of avocados I have left unpruned for years. They just get tall!

    Enjoyed your presentation, helpful. However I’m swapping growing medium in African Violets, not sure if I can use Perlite and Spagnum Moss, or do Ineed to add etc.

      Hello! What is the growing medium currently? I’m not an expert on African Violets, but I’ve heard they prefer well draining soil so you could use perlite or spagnum moss and sand. I would add some nutrients to the mix with worm castings or compost as well.

      How do they get nutrition?Just, in water..The sunshine & water is all this needs to survive?.Amazing.GOD IS GREAT.GOD BLESS EVERYONE...

      @@captainu.s.a.7980 they get more nutrients if you plant them in soil but they are fine with just water (that you change regularly) and sunshine - they just won't grow as quickly or as much (compared to planted in Soil).

    Thank you for the video...I just put mine in water and I was wondering how often do you add nutrients to the water? Mine has two healthy roots and a steam peaking from the top

      Hi Kim - I actually never add any nutrients when I grow in water! I'm sure it wouldn't hurt but I don't think it's necessary as I've been growing avocados for many years. If you plant in Soil it is helpful to add compost when you plant :)

    Thank you! I bought a nephentes and I was worried since my summers are very dry, ill try this method! I was recomended to use moss tough, do you have any experience with moss humidity trays?

    • @RT1home
      @RT1home Год назад

      Thanks so much for watching! I have not heard of moss humidity trays as I would be concerned about mold if it is in standing water...but you can add moss or coco coir to the top of the soil in your plant pot to also help hold in humidity. I have another video that will be out soon with other humidity tips (without using a humidifier).

      The Soil shoveler is our Soil Scoop (size Medium) - it is linked in the product description :) As for the metal pouring thing 😆that is my personal Stainless steel watering can. Unfortunately it's not for sale!
