Funny little deer
On my way out to the shop, I found these 2 deer just hanging out under the blazer top, again. So I thought maybe you would enjoy watching them. We have way too many deer hanging out around here. Yup, watch your step. Hahaha #squarebodychevy #chevy #blazer #k5blazer #deer #twins

K5 BLAZER, BACK CAB REPAIR
Просмотров 32721 час назад
We finally get to finish all of the metal work and rust repair. I threw together a simple die, and used my 20 ton press, which could also be pressed in a vice, to make a step in the sheet metal, to re-create the proper panel seam, and replace the rusty seams on both sides of the upper cab, where it typically rusts away. The tools and supplies I used were; Flap disc, cutting disc, self etching p...
R.V. Roof Treatment, "keep it cool - keep it dry"
Просмотров 22021 день назад
We needed to treat the roof on our 2005 Wildwood camp trailer. We’ve had this trailer for a few years and have had zero leaks and want to keep it this way. The folks who owned this before us had faithfully treated the edges and around the vents with an elastic roof treatment. But here’s the thing, this roof is a one piece rubber roof which is a super good roofing, however it is getting old and ...

Hey there friends, we finally get to the rear floor repairs. Using poster board, we make cad-board templates, to make our repair panels, which can be flipped or reversed to use on either repair sides. Finally getting the last of the metal repair completed and get some other things taken care of, like fenders and windshield removed also a few things up front buttoned up. #chevy #squarebodychevy ...
LED headlight upgrade and comparison “halogen V’s AUXITO LED”

Removing seam sealer and paint #seamsealer #paintstripping #paintprep

Removing seam sealer from seams and small crevices can be hard to do, so I use a wire wheel on a small angle grinder to strip the stuff out of there. I works great. I usually get them from harbor freight. It also works great for stripping paint out of hard to sand areas which is nice because you don’t wind up with sanding marks and scratches to deal with. #seamsealer #chevy #automobile #bodyrep...
RUST REPAIR on Square body-k5 Blazer. Fix it right
Просмотров 6462 месяца назад
These rust spots are very typical places that these blazers start to rust out. fortunately, these are easy places to repair and to get replacement panels for. I pulled out my sheet metal break for this project but couldn't really use it like I was hoping to. Almost all of the drivers side rust repair done and I’m about ready to start working on the right side and start the repair. #chevy #chevy...

I've finally got back on the K5 Blazer project. In the last blazer video, I was able to finish the rust repair on the rear bed end. Pesky Damn Deer!!!
Yuppers.
Came across your channel about a week ago and I can't get enough. You explain things to where anyone can understand. Watching you work on this blazer definitely gives me motivation to get mine put back together. Keep up the awesome work
@@gregsharp5471 Thank you so much. I’m really glad you found our channel. My goal is to help motivate myself and others. Get busy on that rig, my friend.
Installing a gear drive on naturally aspirated engine you will lose 20 to 30 horsepower this is proven by Reher and Morrison racing engines!!!
Wow! Thank you for sharing this information.
Basic blazer problems, ton of work. But worth it in the end! Looks good!
There’s always rust in these ol’ rigs. Yes lots of work, hahaha. Almost done with all the rust repair and then the misery of sanding. Blah. Haha. Thank you for checking in, my friend.
Great idea! Going to do something similar to pull logs up on my tilt trailer! Thanks for sharing!
@@carolinaunited4009 Thanks my friend. I’m glad it was useful
I applied the Henry's Tropicoat to a 2014 Travel Trailer two (2) months ago and I am impressed as to how well it covered the original rubber roof. They say to apply it thick. I applied 2 coats and I still have more in the can. Before the coating, I used Endurabond tape to the joints and edges as I saw cracks on the roof membrane and at the lap sealant seams. I am convinced that RV's are built with the cheapest and most inefficient materials so people are forced to buy new and use sealants, such as Dicor, that are just as unreliable garbage. Dicor layers build up and people are forced to remove the layers before re-applying Dicor, which will crack and required additional applications. Why? I won't tolerate such short-term products. That's why I am putting my trust in Tropicoat and Endurabond. I'm curious how well they will work.
@@ronaldandolsek4637 Hi there, thank you for your feedback. It’s tough to know what you should use, without doing research first. It seems Henry has the best reviews, and you probably picked the better of the two, but only time will tell, I guess. Best of luck to you my friend
Couple of things.....Make damn sure you have a proper harmonic balancer/damper if you use a gear drive, especially if you love the RPM. Torsional vibration can beat/shear the cam pin over time causing all kinds of head scratching diagnostic problems. Hello bent exhaust valve. The great thing about timing chains, and especially Jesel drives, is they are better at insulating the cam from crankshaft vibration. You can run a slight preload on the cam button. Nothing crazy. If you run a roller cam, which you should, controlling endplay is important. Never have had a problem with wear from the copper bushing. If you're serious , well, you won't be using a gear drive, but if you do, there are torrington thrust bearing setups that some builders prefer. A double roller, not a $20 Chinese special, will work better with less hassle. If you have a dyno queen and just love playing with cam timing, and enjoy light pockets, Jesel.
Thank you for sharing this information I appreciate all your positive input and thoughts on this. This is definitely a controversial topic, with lots of different opinions. Thanks for watching, my friend.
How's about some greasy snotty under coating? Looks good from the rust belt of Michigan
Yeah. This rig would never have survived Michigan, not a spatter of undercoat. We wouldn’t have any metal left to weld to. haha. The thicker and gooier the better. Right? Hahaha
Where do you find thick quilty panels?
The panels that I use I get from LMC. They always are good heavy metal. So far they’ve been good.

Well I am going to get up there and see if I can use that seam tape everyone is talking about to go across whole front seam that goes side to side...
@@tomchristensen2914 I’ve heard great things about that tape. And you can apply that roofing sealer over that tape for extra protection. I had a spot that had been repaired and sealed over a long time ago and it still hasn’t leaked. Good luck my friend
our toy hauler is great as well... but two owners before us ran into something slowly on front left side. it leaks when it rains along that front seam by the tongue
Dang! Can you put a small bead of silicone in that seam?
Cool trick (w/ the chain and the jack)
It works great, but you definitely need to be careful doing that. Thank you my friend

You are the man! Found your channel cause I just bought a 1984 CUCV blazer with badly rotten floor pans and rockers. Never tackled a welding or fab job this big but I'm going to give it my best shot!
That’s awesome. You can do it. Just take your time. You can get most of the replacement panels through places like LMC or Brothers truck parts, etc. I have a few other videos on rust repair that I’ve done on the Sierra Grande as well. Good luck my friend and thanks for watching.

It’s probably the second time I’ve watched your video now that I think of it. I have not changed anything on the passenger side of my 78 square body blazer that’s the purpose of all this. I can’t steer it to the right, but I can steer it to the left, thanks thanks. I’ll check it out.
Hey be sure and disconnect one end of your drag link and one of the tie rod ends. That way you can check your ball joints and steering box to see which one is the problem child. Best of luck
I’d rather fix the problem than keep using vice grips. I have a pair, but they are the least used tool in my box. 🤷🏼♂️

That’s awesome. Don’t leave home without one, haha. Thanks for sharing my friend
I love the brightness and efficiency of my LED headlights. The only problem with them is that they don't create enough heat to keep them clear in freezing rain conditions, so be prepared to clean them off frequently or stay off the road (the safer choice) in such conditions.
@@FlashGeiger I’m really impressed with the brightness. Thanks for the heads ups on that, We get cold winters here so we’ll just have to work through it and see how it goes. Thanks for watching and for your input my friend.
Streetable?
Yes definitely, with the hubs unlocked. It works good but definitely created some steering issues in 4wd, it was a struggle, steering from right stop to left stop. I had installed hydro steering and it definitely helped. However I’m going to swap it out for a lunchbox locker instead. If it’s in the budget, step up to the lunchbox. You’ll be happier with that. Thanks for watching and for your question my friend
What kind of wheels and tires you have there? Ive got a 1 ton i need wheels for
Hello there, these are a set I picked up a little while ago, the wheel is a Rockcrusher 17x9 with a 6” backspace and tires are 37x12.50-r17” Toyo M/T. Pretty good video, in a general sense. I tried this job, following the directions. DID have difficulties I didn't anticipate though. Stubborn clips, hard to get at the screws and bolts. Fat fingers, arthritic hands to start with. I also forgot, my other health issues ! Cervical spine work done 2015 - ouch, my NECK !!! Blood thinners - I got a few medium sized bruises on my hands, forearms, ribs and even my chest. From lying down, contorting under the dash. Dizziness too. And the eyesight. Hey, I'm not 71 anymore ( as of 6 days ago !! ) Good news - I WAS able to unplug the motor while still mounted. Plugged in a new motor. The new one blew like a cyclone. SO at LEAST, I knew it was the blower motor, not a relay or fuse. So .... I called a local mobile mechanic who finished the remove & replace for me, using my new blower motor. $80, worth every penny. Plus, now I have a local MOBILE mechanic should the need arise.
Oh my. It’s hard enough for a 56 year old. You definitely have to be able to stand on your head. Hahaha. I’m glad it worked out for you. Thank you my friend, for watching and sharing
Hey I’m going to do this to mine but when I look at my 10 bolt knuckle and doesn’t seem to be enough real estate to mount an arm to drill into. Plus, the knuckle isn’t flat like yours is. Should I be looking for a new knuckle?
Hi there. Yes the 10 bolt knuckle is slightly different, doesn’t have a pad and won’t allow you to use it for cross over or high steer. But the dana44 knuckles will fit and work on your 10 bolt housing. Great video. You sure on the torque spec? Just 45ft-lbs? Seems not so tight. Same for a 2010 Pontiac Vibe?
It seems everywhere you look for torque specs you never get the same answer. I went with the first answer I found and definitely always use lock tight. The specs range from 45ft-lbs to 76ft-lbs. so anywhere in that range would be fine, as long as we get a little bolt stretch. It’s been nearly 2yrs and still holding on. Thanks for watching and for checking in, my friend.
@@Farm10customs Thank you. Just checked Timken Bearing. Their specs are 41ft-lbs. Really not tight. Won't feel safe.
@@porksniffer well said. There are plenty of options, just don’t over torque them. Do use lock tight though. Good luck my friend

I thought the mod, was to move the leaf spring hanger in the front, up by two holes, so you gain about 2” and can use 52’s with a new shackle. I didn’t realize you could move the core support part of it and almost do a reverse shackle flip 🤔 I’m about to do this on my 75 k10 I think I’ll try the way I mentioned. That nut stresses me out, all of your weight from the vehicle would be on that during a stop when inertia shifts.
Hi there. There are many different ways of doing this. I understand what you’re saying and I definitely considered doing this differently myself. Actually if that front bolt was tightened first it might actually pull up tight. However the reality of all this is, none of these brackets should be moving under any circumstances. There are some really nice front relocation brackets available out there. Either way my friend, I wish you the best
@@Farm10customs amen, I hope I didn’t come off as judgy, wasn’t my intention. I looked for those front hangers diy 4x made, no one else makes them! Do you have an idea of where to look?
@Dusto-qz1hz It’s cool. Check out “Off road design, Hogback fab, and Tinworks. These are a few that I know of. There are some kits available with multiple different front spring main-eye location options. Good luck with your project my friend
where you get the most tape
Hi there. I’m assuming that you’re asking about the double sided 3m tape. I’ve pick up the tape from different places Walmart, home depot and from o’relies auto parts. I haven’t tried any other brands though. I have got luck with the 3m tape. Thanks for watching and for your comment my friend
You probably won’t answer my comment. I think that was pretty cool. 1978 Chevy K5 at idle not in motion. it does not like turning to the right would the ball joints cause that. Great job on your video. It was self explanatory. You walked right through it.
Hey there, don’t be silly, of course I will answer your question. Yes the ball joints can cause this problem but steering box could cause it too. The best way to figure out which is the problem, is to disconnect the drag link and tie rods from each side and hand steer at each position one at a time. The culprit will be obvious. Everything should move easily side to side. I hope this helps, good luck my friend
What intake did you use to keep the original hood?
Hi there. We put on this speed Master amzn.to/4cPJIST , but we also modified the the under side of the hood by cutting out some of the bracing just enough to clear the air cleaner, also we added some shims between the hinges and the hood to make up the gap we needed. Hope this helps answer your questions my friend
Second video of yours i have watched! I like your style and projects! Subscribed as well!
Thank you, I really appreciate that. Thanks for watching and for the support my friend.
What gauge did you use? Gotta do some patches on my 72 g10
@@RatsnRods Hi there, I believe I’ve just been using 20 gauge on all the repairs so far. Hope it all goes well for you my friend
@@Farm10customs sweet thank you man, I will definitely try my hardest lol
@@RatsnRods oh I’m sure you’ll do fine
Pardon my ignorance but is just a cross over conversion vs high steer is one favorable over the other. Pretty much I have 78 k10 and looking into just restoring it but also learning things too like the need to upgrade convert steering ect. My plan would be never go over 4” lift and just a clean nice driving rig so would the cross over be just fine or would high steer still be the way even though I’d never plan on off-roading might go off road camping ect but not wheeling if you will. Thank you. Also looking at off-road design for suspension and conversion kits or Davis off-road.
@@DdDten Hi there, those are great questions about steering upgrades. The cross over and high steer are mainly designed for off road steering performance and to gain tie rod ground clearance. I feel that what you’re planning to do with your k10, a good 4” lift kit would be just fine for you, unless you want the upgrade just for looks. I would definitely recommend that you not cheap out on the lifted springs, the better quality springs the better the ride. I hope this helps and answer your questions. I’d be interested in hearing what you decide. Thanks for sharing and good luck my friend
