Sorry to say this, but you didn't do your homework before buying an interface using Thunderbolt protocol. If you 're gonna spend $1k on a flagship audio interface, you should know if your PC is compatible first. Your mistake was assuming that Thunderbolt devices are all plug and play. They are not. Just like with Firewire, it's just a matter of knowing which chipsets are compatible with your system.

I’m saving for a 22 mtk right now, it’s extra but I want it anyway. I agree tho, the issue with the outs is crazy however even with that limitation it’s in a class of its own with the 4 band, the color, and channel separation. @@oliverbranch777 thanks for asking It really depends on what you’re primarily focused on achieving but I will give you a general answer if you only have $1000 I would recommend you getting a used ART VLA 2 Compressor and putting it on your stereo output and compressing your entire mix I also would recommend you to get a analog hardware hifi equalizer that was manufactured in the late 70s early 80s.. try to get a higher end one That has direct wire to wire connections inside rather than small IC chips.. it could be as cheap as 100 bucks or expensive as around 500 bucks there’s no need to spend any more than that .. The popular equalizer that Are made specifically for studios are definitely going to run you multiple thousand dollars.. the hi-fi equalizer is essentially doing the same thing.. it’s just a secret 🤫 You will need to also buy TRS to RCA cables because hi-fi equipment normally uses RCA With the leftover money I would try to get another VLA for vocals if you have enough If not you could try to get some sort of DBX variance of compressor like a 166 or the compressor that was featured in this video if you could find one at a good price A pre-amp is probably gonna be out of the budget for now but when you get more money I will go back and get a ART MPA preamp and put it at the beginning of the vocal signal before the microphone preamp that way your vocals will already be ready to go with little to no need for plug-ins.. So for a quick recap For your vocal chain you want to go Mic - preamp - compressor into your digital audio workstation then you wanna go out of your digital audio workstation into your hardware equalizer into your bus compressor and back into your interface on a stereo channel.. be sure that the interface that you choose has at least 8 Inputs and Outputs this is going to be nearly impossible to do on a two channel typical interface Doing this will create the highest level of separation and full sound on a $1,000 budget But that’s just one way to do it I will try to make a video on the subject matter explaining different variations and options Thanks for watching ✨

Does your computer 🖥️ system meet the basic system requirements that's required to operate that device, with it. And also are you using a dedicated audio system card? Talk to me; those are great interfaces and hella flexible, and clock sync issues like yours happens when you integrate with other digital clocked outboard gear? Digital sync on the studio level sometimes goes deeper than midi over USB. Also as a rule of thumb Quantum interfaces focus better when they are set to internal clock sync as a master source. And the rest of your gear clock sync source is set to external and they chase or slave to the master clock sync source. Digital connection like s/pdif and smux are or Ethernet audio (Dante) offer the best signal syncing flow....

I’m slow to accuse other reviewers, hardware, or software until I walked through the set up and contacted support once I completed my troubleshooting steps. Sounds like social media dragging of organizations is the first resort instead returning it and trying another unit or troubleshooting. Just because something doesn’t work for me, it doesn’t mean it’s junk. It could be me, the device or other associated hardware or software. I just return it and say it didn’t work for me and move on. Sounds like a DPC latency issue on the Thunderbolt interface. Could be caused by out of date drivers or hardware conflicts. The LatencyMon tool can help you figure out the culprit. There's a great tutorial about PC optimization on Presonus' website. Also check that you run the most up to date firmwares and drivers for your motherboard, Thunderbolt adapter and Quantum interface. I've had similar issues due to a buggy Thunderbolt NVM firmware that has been resolved once I updated it, switched the Thunderbolt driver to the Intel DCH one instead of the one provided by my motherboard manufacturer and installed the Thunderbolt Control Center from the Microsoft Store (in that order). Could also be the cables. If you use a motherboard with Thunderbolt 3 and an adapter to Thunderbolt 2, make sure it's either a StarTech or Apple one. Either way, make sure you have a high quality short Thunderbolt cable. The 2m Apple Thunderbolt 2 cable is known to be amongst the best and easiest to source albeit expensive. Long and/or crappy cables can lead to the behavior you have. Also try switching the ports on the interface. On mine, the most reliable seem to be the one towards the WordClock connectors. Finally, make sure you have good quality power both to the interface and from your PC's power supply. A noisy power can lead to many issues that are very hard to trace with computers. Once sorted out, I love this interface to bits and hope that you can too. Best of luck if you're still trying to make it work!

Have tried using a different Thunderbolt Cable? This has been the source of A LOT of people problems. Also make sure you're using the right Thunderbolt Drivers. Also, your motherboard manufacture could be the issue. Some boards have terrible latency no matter what interface you use. Especially Thunderbolt. BTW your Processor will not help your latency issues if the board itself is designed with this issue. For example Dell XPS laptops are known to have horrible latency issues no matter if you spend $1,400 or $4,000 on it.

Are slaving two audio interfaces together? Because that sounds like a syncing or a sample rate mismatch. If you’re doing that, the two interfaces have to have their internal clocks synced. But when they are out of sync you get that kind of distortion and noise. It doesn’t sound like clipping to me because the distortion would be in time with the signal peaks.

Rme , Apogee or no other high-end device has ever drastically dropped the price of their thunderbolt interfaces to that degree only the PRESONUS quantum and that’s because they know that this device has issues .

@@premiumproductions9041the laptop doesn't matter when talking about sound. You cannot use more than one midi device without having some of them assigned as slaves and one only as a master Controller. Even if you replace it with a Burl you'll have the same very problem trust me if you can't sync it get yourself a master clock to save yourself from headaches. That interface is professional, any professional interface requires more tuning to work. Setting everything up takes time and international work.

Those artifact (pops/clicks) from my experience sound more like a weak CPU processing bottleneck my dude. Not anything of fault with the interface. I experienced something extremely similar back when I was just barely surviving on an old AF Win7 PC laptop (after my main DAW PC got jacked in a break in) and trying to use my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 Gen2. The proprietary Focusrite Control AISO driver they force you to use was just too much for that CPU/Ram spec to handle. Yet, right after I Frankenstein'd together a usable i7 (Ivy Bridge) desktop w/ 16gb of ram? Those snap/crackles/and pops disappeared. I obviously don't know your PC's specs, what sample rate rate your using, buffer settings, or AISO driver, but for what it's worth? I've personally used several mid to pro tier rack mount multi-channel Presonus interfaces over the past few decades within a professional working environment, and I'd be willing to bet that it's definitely a computing hardware or user error issue, and not the Quantum. Also, stacking racks like that instead of investing in an actual rack? I could possibly be a ventilation/cooling issue, which would definitely constitute user error. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I actually stumbled on this vid because I just repaired/rebuilt a 2013 iMac (i7-4770/16gb/258gb Nvme/GTX-750m 1gb), and seeing as it's only got Thunderbolt 2? This seemed like a decently affordable option. I hope you figure your problem out tho my dude. P.S. After completely watching your vid to the end? Here's my final guesses, and while I am mostly working in MacOS (intel Macs mostly)? I''ve ran into something strangely similar on the an old school Presonus Firepod studio. #1: uninstall/reinstall all the drivers #2: check your boot OS disk Bios and also the registry partitions on your backup media storage (I recommend they are not the same drive) #3: Ventilation Seriously my bro. All those rack units you got stacked? All put out BTUs of heat dissipation, and also need unobstructed vents. I remember that old Presonus FirePod I mentioned? Did not like dirty outlet voltage or poor ventilation at all, and my ex business partner eventually killed it by not listening to me. Dang yo! I just typed a freakin' book! LMAO! Out of respect? You're getting both a 👍 and a subscribe. Haha!

Your problem is more than likely user error and/or connections/settings errors. Questions: have you tried contacting presonus? Have you asked them to replace the unit? So many unanswered variables; They don't make the highest end products for sure, but if they had a systemic problem with this device, you wouldn't e the only one with these issues. Check your basics e.g. connections and settings bro

Lol .. I’m on $2,000 computer 💻 connected via thunderbolt with the latest drivers and I’m a mastering engineer 👨🏾‍💻.. it’s definitely not user error.. The product just has bad quality control I’m not the only person with this device that ran into these issues , … I’m just the only guy on RUclips talking about these issues … Other reviewer’s are sponsored and or have affiliate links in their description, I don’t .. so I’m cutting it dry.. a quick Google search you will find what I’m saying to be true.. Purchasing this unit is a gamble , some units work great and some units do exactly what’s displayed in the video. I’ve tried on multiple devices. I went And bought a RME baby face and I could run full sessions at 32 without a glitch or a pop anywhere to be found .. I can not recommend this unit ..

Not true at all, quantums are known to have their quirks, they are excellent interfaces but they take some setting up, some people have reported problems on their forums , there’s actually a lot of people experiencing glitches and pops just like the OP

@@Areaeees absolutely.. I’m appreciate you pointing that out .. I don’t know why but people must think I’m making up lies to slander the company 🤦🏾‍♂️😂 .. but I like the majority of Presonus products but this unit is very unpredictable. 🤷🏾‍♂️it’s a hit or miss with those thunderbolt drivers .. I kno my MSI STEALTH and my HP ZBOOK does NOT play well with the Quantum .. I replaced it with a RME BABYFACE and it runs full sessions at 32 with no glitches 🤴🏾✨✨ Thanks again for commenting.
