You have to figure this out for yourself. Don't listen to this guy, and by the same token don't listen to a religious person. LISTEN TO YOUR OWN SENSES. Trust yourself. I'm an atheist. I believe the reason I do not believe in a God is because I was not brainwashed when I was a child. Anybody who says they believe in God has three choices for the reason they believe in God. 1. they are brainwashed. 2. they are lying. 3. They have absolute proof because God visited them and performed a miracle for them. Choice 3 is clearly nonsense so people who believe in God must accept they are brainwashed or they are lying.

    God has given free will and He is righteous: 'And the king will say to them in reply, "Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me." Then he will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.'" (Matthew 25:40-41, Catholic Bible) He says: 'Refrain from anger; abandon wrath; do not be provoked; it brings only harm. Those who do evil will be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD will inherit the earth.' (Psalms 37:8-9, Catholic Bible) 'He said to me, "They are accomplished. I [am] the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give a gift from the spring of life-giving water. The victor will inherit these gifts, and I shall be his God, and he will be my son. But as for the cowards, the unfaithful, the depraved, murderers, the unchaste, sorcerers, idol-worshipers, and deceivers of every sort, their lot is in the burning pool of fire and sulfur, which is the second death.'“ (Revelation 21:6-8, Catholic Bible) Jesus Christ`s opinion of Satan: 'You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies.' (John 8:44, Catholic Bible)

  • @TheBinaryWolf
    @TheBinaryWolf 8 часов назад

    So many pseudo-intellectuals criticize religion when they are utterly ignorant of the meaning of the term: re- L. 'again' + legion, fr. ligare, 'to bind' = that which binds man back to God. So anything that does not re-bind man to his Creator is not religion. Roman Catholicism, Islam, Mormonism, Hinduism, even modern Judaism do NOT qualify as religions as they are humanistic. No atheist has any proof that God is not working in the life of man...not a shred of evidence, save a myopic view of the subject. But those of us that have invited Him into our hearts have proof in peace that passes all understanding. We cannot prove God to you, just as you cannot disprove Him to us. Only you can prove Him to yourself in humility. So to the skeptic, we say, be honest: you do not know everything there is to know in the universe. Until you experience the good fortune of suffering so greatly that your pride ceases to blind you, the existence of God will remain an insult to you, nay, the smell of death. But it is never too late to avoid the terrible shock that awaits you on the other side of the grave.

You people are so gullible. "which binds man back to God." Which god? Prove your god exists and all other gods do not. "So to the skeptic, we say, be honest: you do not know everything there is to know in the universe." The universe is natural, not supernatural. You are not being honest. "the existence of God will remain an insult to you" Fake characters can't insult anyone. "But it is never too late to avoid the terrible shock that awaits you on the other side of the grave." What a bunch of delusional nonsense. Imagine a guy coming up to you saying congratulations on winning the lottery but you have to believe you won. Then saying you get the prize when you die. You'd walk away backwards trying not to make eye contact.

    By denying existence of GOD without separating the crucial difference between 1) The Creator of the universe and 2) the one demanding prayers and subordination to the rules, supposed to have been delivered by that Creator (but, in practice, always invented by some humans), Richard is doing a disservice to the task of GETTING RID OF THE RELIGIONS, because it is only the second function of GOD needs to be denied, while the former, as a NON-PERSONAL entity is implied in any rational explanation of the existence of the universe. It need not be denied. Even science has only changed the name of THE CREATOR from GOD to NATURE, while retaining its role as The Power that determines the flow of all events in the universe. Otherwise science cannot DISCOVER LAWS OF NATURE. On the contrary, by claiming the existence of immutable, inevitable amd irrefutable LAWS OF NATURE with all the EVIL intact, Science only provides very rational EXPLANSTIONS justifying all the evil as they exist ~ thus contributing, inadvertantly though, to perpetuate them. Thus Science, as it exists at present, is a far more destructive religion than all the conventional religions taken together. As QM clearly shows: THERE ARE NO LAWS OF NATURE TO BE DISCOVERED. Nature permits us to design the laws we consider most appropriate to SUSTAIN EVIL FREE LIFE on this earth and, only thereafter, analyze phenomena selectively to find THE MEANS to implement the laws we want nature to follow. EVIL, thereby, is defined exhaustively as DISASTERS (earthquakes, volcanos, floods, droughts, storms, accidents), PREDATION (human and animal), DISEASES (including all birth defects, all weapons manufacture, all violence) and DEATH. Lack of this realization is the reason why the humsn race in its entire history, from antiquity to present day, from Thales of Miletus to Stephen Hawking (and still continuing), is yet to derive the mathematical model for the mechanism of even a single natural phenomenon that could PREDICT accurately when that phenomenon may harm life function, let alone PREVENT such ~ which, in fact, SHOULD be the sole purpose cum criterion of proof of all knowledge.

    0:58 "Many people do simply awful things out of sincere religious belief" As well as out of sincere belief of any other kind that's not religious. That's just called human nature. 8:00 onwards, there he goes again: Admitting what is simply a feature of human nature and still blaming it on religion, claiming that it's all just "religious mentality", although it is clearly and admittedly NOT religious, and although, contrary to his claim, these iterations of the problem are not "transcendent" by any means, they are very down-to-earth, very exclusively concerned with this earthly, material existence. He has it all backwards. The problems is not that religion contamins the human mind, even in those cases where it's not religion in the proper sense, the problem is already existing within the human mind, and it gives birth to religion and other dangerous non-religious ideologies. You can't get out of the dilemma by saying we would all be good people if religion didn't corrupt us, no, it's because we're already (potentially) corrupt that religions and other dangerous ideologies can prove to be so successful. He says it himself: "People want that big truth. They want sacred scriptures." And so, he concludes the problem is somehow NOT people's inherent desire for those things, but those things themselves, although they have been created by people to fulfill their desires? People are creating gods in their own image, but those gods are somehow responsible?

    Certainly, as God is depicted in ancient texts, the image one can come away with, is that of a rather petulant god. As such, it makes sense that one would not want to worship someone like that. (Although the Congregationalist church I grew up in paid those awful concepts of God no mind. Jesus, and his concept of God was what mattered.) As a child, I knew nothing about how religions had evolved over the ages. I didn't even know the term "god-of-the-gaps," (which refers to the human tendency to personify and deify unexplainable phenomenon). It all just seemed to be a static thing, as though this was the way everyone had always understood it. But learning about how the Greeks and Romans envisioned their gods, on Mt. Olympus or wherever, and their relationship to things like lightening, I began to get the feel for the way people conceived of gods. Thanks to Homer we have the Iliad and the Odyssey, detailing the exploits of sailors on a quest for a golden fleece, (although how a sheep could have hair made of gold made no sense to me...). But the subliminal message was that people deify lots of things. It took awhile before I learned that the concept of 'Yahweh' started out initially as a volcano. Thor and his lightening, made for superheroish fun. Now we have Marvel's Avenger series, where mortals and semi mortals alike battle the forces of evil. The point is, we're still doing it. That religion evolved out of attempts to appease forces of nature, or unexplainable events that caused death and destruction, is nowhere to be found in the critiques of atheists. They look at the current state of the product, (which others have foolishly labeled inerrant), and take it at face value. As though the authors knew full well what they were talking about, (somehow had powers of perception lost to modern man), and recorded it all down from perfect recall. My question to those atheists is: "have you met people?" Why pursue belief? Science is providing us with explanation for more and more of the hazards in our lives, and that's great! The need to appease a supposed angry ghost or god, is rapidly fading from view. Eliminating all the things God isn't, makes sense. Many believe it's possible we will eventually have answers to all the mysteries in the universe. (Although how they think they'll find out scientifically where personality comes from, I don't know.) One persistent mystery is 'life.' Saying 'god did it' to each mystery has gotten so old, that even if God did do that one but not all the others, why should we believe it? We know "mind" exists, but some imagine it might just be a product of neurology. (Except there's evidence of mind/cognition in organisms devoid of neurons, like slime mold, or mycelial networks.) So, there may well be some things for which we'll never know the answer, like why time exists? Enter, near-death experiences, psychic phenomenon and revelation, which point us toward a first source and center. It does seem as though there is something transcendent out there, (up there, or wherever). A wiser approach, it seems to me, would be to grade each depiction of God in the Bible, for example, just based on their own perception of what perfection should look like. I say "perfection" because the Bible has God saying: "be you perfect, even as I am perfect." He's asserting that he's perfect, so let's evaluate just how well the authors have done with even just one of his supposed attributes and ask: "does this sound 'perfect' to me?" As loving someone (which no one has a problem with), and sending them to hell for not worshiping in the way the priest deems necessary, sounds like a contradiction, that one concept, as compared against perfection, would get a failing grade. (Never mind the problem with, why is it the priest who gets to decide what the right way is?) But to do this, would require one to throw out the inerrancy claim. As critical thinking goes, many an atheist doesn't seem to be sympathetic to how it got written in the first place, just critical of the end result. If our concepts of God were understood to be a work in progress, (something very few religions acknowledge or tolerate), we might be able to create a list of attributes that seem perfect to us and those that don't, and confine ourselves to the ones that pass the perfection test. Although it would be much easier just to read the Urantia Book.

      @@thetruthaboutscienceandgod6921 - You are absolutely correct, there have been times when celestial beings have shared information with the human race. There have been epochal revelations in the past, where divine beings incarnated on the Earth on occasion. Half a million years ago, we had a Planetary Prince, along with a staff of 100 ascendent people who were provided human bodies, here to begin to civilize the evolutionary mortals. Most notable was Nod, who sided with the Lucifer Rebellion 200,000 years ago. 37,000 years ago, a material son and daughter were rematerialized to be a king and queen from God and to serve as biological uplifters, enriching the human genome and teaching us about the heavens. They were Adam and Eve. They left behind a rich progeny who maintained higher civilizations for a long time, and some were still present in Sumaria, (who had a scroll depicting the solar system). 4000 years ago, we had a Melchizedek incarnate for just shy of 100 years, who taught not just Abraham, but a bunch of other missionaries as well. Then we had our Paradise Creator Son incarnate as a regular human, living the complete life as a human, born of a "maiden" (not a virgin), who knew everything. Now we have a 5th Epochal Revelation, written by celestial beings, called the Urantia Book. I look forward to viewing your videos.

    God is a terrible character because he mirrors exactly the mean nasty repressive retributive tribalist rulers and priest-kings of ancient times. This is a fire engine-red, honking, careening clue that Man created God in his own image. Religion such as Abrahamic religion (Judaism, Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, Mormonism) was Man's desperate attempt to fashion a moral code, control each other politically, encourage solidarity for war, and make claims on real estate.

      Please watch and share with others my five brief videos in which I present examples of scientific facts contained in the Bible; facts that the writers thousands of years ago could not have been aware of without divine knowledge given to them by God. And today's scientists agree with those facts. Thank you!

    Stupid and wrong video title. Atheism isn't a "belief". It's the complete opposite; the lack in the belief of a deity as explained by a few religions. I expected better from Jupitar Star.

    It was an accurate and factual video, but it could be shortened because it was somewhat repetitive. I am figuring out if I heard it right. Did our friend Berty Russell suggest that the arguments for a god could be better? grammar-grammar-grandma. Like a stuck 78 RPM gramophone record.

    There’s no evidence or proof for a God. Sports stars point to the skies as if to heaven when they score a goal. There’s nothing up there except ice cold planets and moons existing in absolute zero. There’s plenty of documentation that Jesus was historically real. The question is where has he been the last 2000 years? Sitting on a golden throne with a white haired bearded white man smoking cigars and drinking wine? Remember he turned the water into wine.

    God loves us so much that we'll never ceas to exist, that would be more tragic than going to hell. No one will see anyone in hell, because all wjo are there will be alone for eternity. But take courage now in knowing that you will at least exist. Yes yes on fire and screaming for it to all end. And cursing God that i was right in my comment here, LoL don't worry we'll likely all be there together even even though we'll all be alone, but i am very much truly right that it is better to exist than not to exist even in hell. Now God would truly be evil and uncaring if at the end of our lives we just stopped existing.
