Tracking the progression of my guitar playing.
Undun by The Guess Who and my cover of it.
This is such a timeless, great tune. Randy Bachman nailed when he released this song back in 1969. Lots of cool jazzy chords and so much fun to play.

Alchemy by Philip Sayce and me trying to copy it.

This song came out about 10 years ago but I just heard for the first time a couple of months ago. I knew immediately that I wanted to learn it. This is such a soulful piece of blues guitar and a masterclass on subtle variations on a theme. I tried to copy is as best I could. I hope you like it.
Sudden Samba -- Neil Larsen Cover

I always thought Neil Larsen's music was under rated. Jungle Fever is one of my favorite albums. This tune is from that album. Definitely pushing the boundaries of my skills on the guitar.

I always thought ARS was underrated given the level of talent in the band. This is my attempt to copy one of my favorite tunes from them. I found the backing track on line somewhere and filled in the guitar parts. Thanks to John C Gordon for letting perform this in front of his painting. Efforcy Brian Grey (Blues Lounge) Cover

I heard this on the Blues Lounge Channel and I knew I had to learn it. What a tremendous experience it has been for me. I don't know the real name of the tune but I'm calling it Efforcy. Now Efforcy isn't really a word. I made it up specifically for this video. The definition of Efforcy is "The state of confusion that arises when learning the guitar lines of this song and trying to decide if th...
When A Blind Man Cries --- Deep Purple Cover

This tune was supposed to be on the Deep Purple Machine Head Album but it got cut. Years later, Ian Gillian did a version of this song that had a more Rockish guitar solo. This recording is me doing a mash up of the two versions. A backing track of the original recording was used and edited to extend the song allowing for the second guitar solo. Hope you like it.
Blues Lounge Cover. I call it F'ing Blues Rumble.

A big shout out to the Blues Lounge channel. I stole one of their many great tunes and recorded it here. The original had a piano solo in between the 2 guitar solos. Since my piano skills aren't ready for a piano solo, I changed it to another guitar solo on my Strat. I didn't know the name of the song since it came from one of the Blues Lounge 8 hour streams. Since the song is in the key of Fmi...

OK this piece is much bigger than I am. But its such a beautiful tune I had to try it. I had to slow it down and its pretty sloppy, but its the best I can do for now. Thanks to Nadia Kossinskaja for her performance and the transcription.

My attempt to pull off a great song from Marcel Dadi. A little too slow and a little too sloppy but it where I am currently. Enjoy.

A pretty song about a not so pretty story. It is fun to play though. Hope you enjoy. Special thanks to Victoria de Almeida (www.victoriadealmeida.com/) for her fabulous artwork on the topic and Stefan Schyga (www.learnhowtoplayguitar.com/) for the transcription.

I decided to dust this one off from my highschool days. This tune, when it came out, made me realize there was more than electric guitar and started my love of Spanish guitar music. Its not perfect or anywhere near as good as the origianal but considering its me, its OK. Hope you enjoy.
Stopped at a winery on the way to Taos, but this video was the the real treasure.

Can i have your gitar sirr❤😢
Ha. Sorry but no.
Nice. Would you know who's the guitar player for Brian Grey?
Thanks. Sadly, I don't know. I found an email on the blues lounge channel and asked a while back but I never heard back.
Maybe it's Brian Grey!?!? LOL just a guess
I LOVE IT. GOOD SOUND.
Thank you 😋
Great job I love this. Can you do "Blue Collar"?
I'll check it out!
Brilliant! love the chord progression.
Thanks. Randy Bachman gets the credit for the chords 😂
Very nice.
Thank you! Cheers!
hard to hear you
Thanks for the feedback
that's awesome
Thank you. It's a fun song to play.
Well done brother. This was outstanding!! Thanks for sharing your talent.
Thank you kindly!
Why the hell can I give only 1 thumb up ?
Ah thank you. It really is a beautiful tune and I tried my best to copy the master that created it.
WOW - love it!!!
Thanks Norbert. The blues lounge stuff sounds great and it takes you shifting keys alot in the songs so you have to pay attention.
Love it man. My Uncle is your good buddy Wayne and my Dad sent this to me. Greg Sanford. Philip is a killer player and this is fantastic man.
Hey Sonny, nice to meet you virtually and thank you. Wayne and I go way back to my early guitar years and your dad wasn't far behind. Give Greg and Wayne a big hug for me
nice
Thanks Paul

great playing, but you need harder rock in your life :)
Thanks Paul. Maybe so on the rock, but I may have migrated from head banging to head bobbing.
🔥🔥🔥Killing it Kyle !! Excellent 💙
Thanks Chip. Hope you are well.
Samba é muito bom 😊
Thanks Dave. So are you living in Brazil now?
@@OldDogNewTricks57 Just part-time. In the US now and headed back to Brazil for a couple of months in June. It's a different world there.
You really nailed the tone of the guitar. May I ask what was the signal chain?
Hi thank you. My strat is plugged into a Motu audio interface which is USB into the laptop. Using cakewalk DAW and positive grid bias fx 2 for amp modeling.
@@OldDogNewTricks57I also have a Positive grid Sparc GO. Possibly the whole chain can be reproduced with it. Would you be so kind and give me the settings for each FX in the chain ?
do but currently in Mexico for a wedding. Should be able to in about a week or so.
@@OldDogNewTricks57 I gladly wait. Have a nice time in Mexico.
@@jozseflazar917 OK. Back to this. I used 2 pickup selectors on the Strat. One is the neck pickup with tone rolled way back to kill the highs. This was used on the first half of the song and the last part of the song mellow lead stuff. Going between the clean rhythm and the clean lead I adjusted the guitar volume from about 7 for the rhythm to 10 for the lead. The second setting was the pickup selector between the middle and bridge pickup. This was used for the second part of the song rhythm and lead stuff with a more rockish tone. You can probably hear where it changes, and watching the video again I see the pickup selector is switch at about 2:19 in the video and then back again at 4:58. For this part of the song, the dirty rhythm and hot lead, the guitar volume stayed at about 7. Switching to the hot lead amp gave me the volume boost I needed so I didn't mess with the guitar volume. There are 4 amp selections. 1 for the Ritchie lead stuff (mellow lead). The second amp for the Ritchie rhythm stuff which is the first part of the song (very clean setting). The third amp (hot lead) for the rockish solo in the Ian Gillian version of the song (second guitar solo). The 4th amp for the rockish rhythm parts (dirty rhythm) in the Ian Gillian version of the song. Amp 1: I called this the mellow lead amp. In biasFX2 this is the I Got Blues amp. Kyle! Great work. I greatly enjoyed Solo #2. The overall tone and presentation was excellent. All the hard work paid off. BTW the scary background fits so well as Halloween approaches. Thank you Tavo

What cover is this for i don’t see it on the Brian grey page?
Hi sorry for the late reply. It took me forever to find the original video again. ruclips.net/video/bT1Z6ZO_0qc/видео.htmlsi=3wKbIw4PixR51dNM It's this collection of blues lounge and the tune is at 26:25 into the full video.
Nice, I liked their version but yours is more exciting! Nice work 💪
Thanks for the compliment. That means a lot. I think of myself as a well trained monkey and the Blues Lounge folks are the real creators/ masters.

Thanks Mike. Always a fun song to play.
Closed my eyes and there was Ritchie .. You killed it Kyle .. Bravo 🤘🤘
Ah thanks Chip. I got pretty close. But Mr. Blackmore has many subtleties and nuances that are really hard to get exact. That probably explains why he's the rock star and I'm not. Lol
