1950s Australian Railway Shunters Lamp Restoration
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.6 месяцев назад
I was given this lamp many years ago from my grandfather, way back in the 1980s, I thought it was time to restore it to its glory, it has a tri color light system, for signaling trains, it uses a 6volt battery to luminate the light, so yes its electric, it was used by NSW TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT, from the 1950s to the 1970s. I really hope you enjoy my video :) Any feedback is very welcome.

Hope you like my work, please let me know what you want to see next :)

That is a TON of logic for being such a "relatively" simple thing. What a wonderful world of computing we exist in from every day computers. (although this could've been said in the 70's with a keyboard, but not the internet). I'm glad we have modern computers to interact with each other. But then again in the XP era I could've left this same comment on a 2005 video from a "modern" OS. Computing hurts my brain. I miss windows 7 ok? lol

Fantastic restoration! it looks like new again. 😀👍 I don't know about this particular model, but there might be Dip switches on one of the boards, and one of them sets the Echo to on, and then as you type, it should show up on the screen.. there should be documentation somewhere on the internet, that tells if this model has that feature, and which dip switch to flip to on for Echoing , as well as how to set the Parity and speed, should you come across the accompanying DEC Computer in your travels maybe a PDP -11?

I remember in the late 80s inheriting the PDP 11 computer system from the high school, getting a transported to the downstairs room of my parents house, the electrician getting wiring working, and spending two summers doing nothing but trying to get lunar lander on an 8-inch floppy to work properly... Good job cleaning up that chassis! Looking sweet. That Celeron processor is *slow* you can easily get a much faster P4 CPU on ebay. Also, another thing about that era PC is it's right in the prime of the Capacitor plague. I wouldn't trust it until I went in and tested all of them. There are places you can find lists of the brands effected by it at the time, but it's pretty far reaching. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague

You can test your VT if you connect pin 2 and 3 together of the serial connector. If it's possible don't wash electronics boards with water. It's better if you can wash with isopropylic alcool. For a test type all H's to realing the CRT.😊
