I recently finished this study of a movie still from The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (featuring Pedro Pascal and Nicolas Cage)! I wanted to share a time lapse of the process as well as some thoughts about doing drawing studies,,, enjoy :D twitch: www.twitch.tv/morguedesign instagram: @morguedesign morguedesign website: morguedesign.com/ music: "Natural Space 2.0" Dave Osorio

I recently finished my first ever mural! I made an entire Super Mario World-themed room. It was a very ambitious project, so I wanted to document the process! How to Land that First Creative Job after Graduation (Full-time Graphic Designer)
Просмотров 2853 года назад
First video! Transitioning from design school to a full-time job is quite challenging, so I thought I would share some of the things that I learned as I went through the job search process. I just graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BFA in graphic design and a BA in art, and I recently got hired by a marketing/communications agency on the East Coast for a full-time position as a c...
I think its just bc the are utilizing the same seo techniques to boost viewership. However the most important part of content is that it is GOOD useful content. YOU did a perfect job of explaining and shedding light…appreciated!
Love this video!!! Lots of similar videos have been recommended to me for the last few days but i somehow avoided them. SO glad i did and stumbled upon your video instead!! Very inspiring, keep up the good work!!:)
This video is too genuine to succeed on RUclips. Fake it a little bit and you'll be on your way!
haha thank you!
Not to be that guy but i geniunily like the second Ramona drawing more than the third.
Really cool man!! Love it!
Dude, this video is freaking beautiful. Thanks for sharing your wisdom here, the community really needs to hear more voices like this.
Ooo I've been hoping you'd do a gouache process! I love how the paint is applied in your work and want to emulate/learn from it so badly! You're an angel🙏
I actually love the concept of starting the painting with the darker lines. I guess I had always been conditioned to try and build up big shapes and forms first, and while that's helpful in some cases, I always struggle to push those darker features backwards into the space when I already have thick lighter paint underneath! Super interesting video. Thanks much🫶
aw thank you! that means so much <3
Lovely, lovely work!
I wasn't bored for a single second and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The painting turned out great! Thank you so much for sharing.
thank you! i appreciate that so much <3
it's an absolutely stunning piece of painting. i love that you showed your process in normal speed, both your pencil marks and brushstrokes seem so precise, it's mesmerizing! love the graphic look and the idea of starting with black outline and working your way up from that :) it's funny, i've never painted a self-portrait, seems so bizzare that i can't get around to try it 😄
thank you! I'm a huge fan of self-portraits (both making them and seeing other people make them). you should definitely try one at some point :)
Wow. I've had very limited experience with gouache, and I always thought it was impossible to draw something good with it. But now I'm reconsidering my opinions. I've found your channel today and subscribed after a second video because the points you make are really insightful (and I also liked your voice).
thank you so much! the first painting I made with gouache looked so bad, and it can be so hard to get used to. I would recommend trying it again <3
Best video I’ve found on this topic. This actually helped me . Thank you 🙏🏼
thank you! i'm glad i could help <3
This is some real dedication, thank you for documenting this! Peanuts statues are one of those things that are just part of living in the Twin Cities, but I never really thought about just how many were out there.
thank you! I agree - i had no idea how many statues were still around when I started this project but they're an important part of MN history
I refused to do an unpaid internship in my Graphic Design course, lol I dont work for free people 😝 but thats not why I dont have a job in the field, I went on to do a Masters in Litt, wanted to do a PhD and then the big C hit and that put that on hold for a bit lol congrats on the job!
banger video. love the color coordination in the background
Loved the video. As for a suggestion on what to do with the paper, bookbinding might be fun to get into (if you can afford another hobby that is) It’s something i have gotten into and it could be a fun way to make your own sketchbooks as well. It also makes for great gifts to loves ones :)
I feel you man, being a freelancer is incredibly hard
Wow!!! This is awesome work. And what a great way to really get to know the Twin Cities.
I hit the same wall as you a while back, so I switched to knitting and sewing and honestly it’s been the absolute best thing I’ve ever done for my art. I put less pressure on myself and my art when it’s a functional piece because it’s being judged at a completely different standard than a piece I’m drawing to post on social media to attract clients.
I don't know who you are but this is such a vulnerable and beautiful video. I once read somewhere how creators can be so competitive (with others or themselves) but for the audience, it's just more good stuff that they get!
OH MY GOSH!!! You have worded how I think about projects and success so well. Any zigzag towards being better makes me think of the teenagerial ambition of success that has stuck with me. I have forced myself to work on smaller projects now and it's hard to fight with yourself. I did a big project, now I can relax, but hey I am doing a small project, so I am actually winning. I don't know if your social media numbers will get bigger (I hope they do), but I want you to know that I really, really appreciate putting my (and a lot of people's) struggles in very compact carry-around-in-hard-case words.
aw thank you! i really appreciate that so much <3
I was recommended this for some reason 😂 but am happy I was, it was soothing and really nice to hear someone speaking so openly and honestly about how they're feeling 😌 Keep it up my friend! 😊 Also... Would you know how to make ink? 🤔 Or like graffite or paint or something... Then make an art peice where you've not only created an incredible art peice, but also created the paper and material to make the art. Like ever single part was created by you. I feel that could be pretty cool to do hehe :)
ty! that's a wonderful idea, i would definitely love to do something like that eventually!
I wanna drink the paper smoothie
we must resist the temptation ):
What and incredibly cathartic video. I can't think of much more to add on because it so closely alighted with how I've been feeling. Excellently explained, and I'm looking forward to anything you post on the channel in the future!
The passion that went into this project is truly admirable
You're hitting the nail on the head, my time goes way to much into style discovery and inspo
I get the most satisfaction in the rendering process. Getting the big shapes down and composition and all the ugly stages in between are only motivated to get finished cause I know at the end I get to put all the little details in and rendering the deepest shadows and lightest highlights. All the things that make a single dot of paint cause the whole branch or petal or blade of grass can push or pull different elements forward or backward. Playing with color and light is also what makes my brain bees purr. I take a lot of satisfaction in the process, but that only came once my own internalized critical parent part in my brain stop judging everything I was doing and quieted down so my right brain could be creative and find the joy in it instead of trying to be the best or perfect. I also have to continue work on the discipline that is required to not get lost in the dopamine soup of doing the detail part endlessly and eventually call it done. That’s actually harder than stopping being judgmental of my own work.
I see other people arts like expressions I have a family member who does art it’s interesting how we both see different expressions
There is a Snoopy at the bank I work at. We dress him up for holidays/seasons.
Which bank do you work at?? Did Morgan go there?
Art Style: The specific process, choices, and chosen medium of an artist. That is all. Create a process, make consistent choices, and choose your medium.
WATCH THIS... AND DON'T SKIP THE CONCLUSION If you're an artist, watching this will save you a ton of time when your mind starts to get corrupted by worrying about your art style, as mine has been for too long.
Such a good video !!!!
Ty for this video! Really helpful, I’ve been struggling with this for months
I'm just gonna say that you're good. I would really love to listen to you ramble about art.
thank you!
I really loved this video as someone who also made a how to find your art style video I felt like you shed some light on better key topics thank you
nice
i'm so happy i found your channel, i'm glad you decided to make videos, you're like breathing in fresh air after sitting inside a room for a week 🙏
This video has saved me honestly. For the past couple of years I have been trying to find my mysterious art style for years. I have completely forgot to enjoy what I love doing. What happened to our childlike enthusiasm? If I wanted to be a bird, I wouldn't study them, I would just start flying.
aw I'm so glad I could help! and you're so right <3
9:00 wow! 😅 It’s another one off those moments when you ask a question but then you realize you already know the answer.
Haha thank you for this!
That's one crazy streak of sketchbooks!! Been drawing since 2018 and I have completed only one lmao I really love how you draw portraits, they're so full of personality! I adore your ATLA drawings, I love those characters :)
aw thank you so much! completing sketchbooks is so much harder than it should be :/
@@morguedesign Yesss especially when you have a tendency for perfectionism :/ But your video motivated me ahah, I'm giving myself the goal of finishing my second sketchbook by the end of the year💪
This was very vulnerable and as a new artist, youtube recommended this to me. I’m very thankful to see ur process and wish to see mine align to the same amount of progression. You are amazing!
thank you! that means so much <3<3
you paint so well , i love how you painted Pedro pascals face ! i hope you get more views and followers, this is amazing art :D !
your voice is so calming <33 i just discovered u and im a fan
I've followed you on instagram for a while, and seeing you pop up on my youtube feed was a delight!! I love seeing the history of your work and your thoughts on art in general, keep it up! These videos are great. 😃
thank you!! i'm happy you were able to find me here on yt too :D
Wow you are good.
So very inspiring to see the full journey! And the subject about talent and can anyone learn to draw question really resonated with me. I was holding myself back for years and years thinking I was simply not talented, and did not pick up art for real until i was 28 years old.. now i have been drawing and painting for 5 years, learning from youtube and online courses, and I am loving it! Now I can proudly call myself an artist, and it was all because of believing I could learn, rather than believing I had no talent :)
i'm so glad you were able to start your art journey! <3
😍nice bro
So cool to see your entire journey in one video :) Loved it!
finally, a normal looking sketchbook with notes on it too
Thank you for so candidly sharing your personal history of sketchbooks. Too much of the internet Art world focuses on sharing beautifully curated “sketchbooks” that are more finished art pieces than they are spaces for ideation and practice, so it’s refreshing to see your experience. I wish I kept my sketches from high school and college!
thank you! I def agree - and I'm grateful for my hoarding tendencies because i'm able to look back at these messy sketchbooks lol
