When planning a journey with Amtrak, plan to get to your destination at least a day earlier than you need to be there for a wedding, anniversary, birthday, graduation, etc. Amtrak may do a great job keeping on schedule on the northeast corridor on tracks they own, but alas with the rest of America Amtrak runs on tracks own by the large freight railroads. The train dispatchers know who puts butter on their bread, it isn't Amtrak or VIA. I have had my travel plans cancelled by airlines, buses, trains, and cruise ships. It is what it is... Whatever form of transportation, plan to get to your destination a day early.

My husband and I have ridden the Coast Starlight four times now. The last trip in the spring of 2023 was one we will never forget. We got as far as Davis, CA when the train stopped and they announced that they would go no further due to washed out tracks ahead (remember all that rain?). We were told to gather our stuff and leave the train. They said if we wanted to we could go back as far as Sacramento or catch a commuter train to Emeryville. We asked our car attendant’s advice. We are from Canada so aren’t terribly familiar with the area. He advised we go back to Sacramento since it is a safer area and there is a bigger station. So we did. We got in the lineup at the station for what felt like an eternity while a mentally unbalanced woman shrieked and carried on. When I finally got to the front of the line I asked if there was any way possible to get to LA since we were meeting family there to board a cruise. She said we could go to Emeryville on a commuter train and then catch a bus to LA. Sold. She printed us the necessary tickets, refunded our entire one way trip (unasked) and we were on our way to Emeryville. We got there only to learn that we had a 10 hour wait. I rented a nearby hotel room so we could shower and rest. Then, we got on the bus for an overnight trip on horribly uncomfortable seats. The bright spot in this is the bus driver played guitar and did so at all the rests. He was fantastic. We got to LA almost exactly 24 hours late. But, we got there. Lots of people would give up on Amtrak after that but none of it was their fault. Also, if you aren’t prepared for some bumps in the road on a journey you might as well stay home. We are booked for a trip from Vancouver, BC to Fort Lauderdale in March. We are very excited but are also prepared for hiccups.

It's become a glorified indoor walking track.

Spent many times at that mall and remember chartered buses going there for a day's shopping. Thanks for the video, sad to see it go, but brick-and-mortar shopping is on the way out. On-line is more convenient and you don't have to settle for things.

oh wow this is so sad. This was childhood mall, My friends and I frequented this mall all the time on the weekends. it was the place to hangout. Especially the food court. Crazy to see it totally quiet and empty. This place used to be crazy during christmas time! 😭

I was a freshman in high school when the mall first opened. My friends and I would go there all the time in the 80s and with my wife in the 90s. I can’t believe it’s closed. It was always busy. It looks to be in great condition. Are they going to tear it down?

No Recline... None of my $! The sitting straight up the whole flight makes me angry! Might as well use regular seating for the price. Another 55 for fake leather and a slightly bigger seat with no first class meal, etc. I sleep the whole trip... not worth it to me!

Even a women in labor will deliver her baby sooner than the time spirit takes to reach its destination. Crazy delay hours, Bad seats, bad bathroom 😠

I was in the area in December and wanted to walk around at it but it was dark and I was a lil too spooked to walk around it alone lol. I wonder if they’ve started demolition by now…I really wanted to check it out for the heck of it before it officially goes

I have never flown Spirit but the thought of the person in front of me not reclining their seat into my nose makes them much more appealing.

I've heard of Spirit Airlines but am too chicken to try them out. I always go Southwest Airlines though. They are a nice, but affordable airline!

I have flown Spirit a lot over the years. One time I had a Spirit flight attendant says "...and finally we'd like to welcome back those passengers that said they would NEVER EVER fly with Spirit again." 🤣

These cheapy flights use every inch of space and there's no legroom , You get with the cheap airfare unruly people that are already drunk before boarding or the parents that let their kids do whatever , or the people that just want to start fights! Not worth it folks !Jet Blue has the most leg room of all the carriers for coach and since they charge a little more it is totally worth it since you don't get the lower class garbage people and you get some piece and quiet and you can stretch out , If Jet blue winds up buying Spirit they will strip those planes and use the same leg room parameters that they use on every Jet Blue Flight ! As a businessman that travels regularly i have been on pretty much every airline and now our Company and other Sales techs use jet blue exclusively ! Take it from someone that has logged almost 1 million miles , Go jet blue and you will not be disappointed! If you don,t believe me then check out the many reviews others have posted or google it!

Yes, you are correct it is about expectations, Spirit Airlines it is not a Concord Service , I've been flying them for several years and not a single late arrival . however, I have also flown major and expensive international airlines, and their service is less than pathetic .

This is great, thanks. Too bad that Jetblue seems bent on buying it, eliminating its model, and putting the Jetblue model in its place. The US government sued Jetblue trying to block it, and if it fails Spirt gets a windfall in money. Then Frontier will try to buy it again. If Spirit is stand alone in 2025 I will be amazed as too many competitors want to buy it these days it seems to eliminate the competition.

The worst flight experience of my life. Never again. If you're a good looking guy like me the male homosexual flight attendants will stare at you through the whole flight
