Welcome to DCH Studios, a channel where you will find Dan and Cindy traveling around the desert SouthWest in our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon on 37" tires, searching for great landscapes to photograph.
In this video we take on Poughkeepsie Gulch and the wall in the San Juan mountains of Colorado. This is an extreme off road trail that is a Jeep Badge of Honor trail. It has been a while since our last off road adventure and this trail was a bit aggressive for our skill level and the amount of time it has been since we tried a trail this hard. We need more practice and this helped.

New Sub here, Love your adventures! My wife and I have been wanting to do some off-road adventures in the Colorado area and will at some point. Most of our off-roading/ Rock crawling and atv riding is Southern Idaho and Utah. Retirement in just a few years for us and we will be trying more areas. Thanks for the great videos! 😎😎

@@dchstudios8053 You're welcome. And I think that is an awesome idea. We plan to put together an Overland type Toyota Tacoma and head that direction sometime. Maybe ya'll could come to Idaho and try out some awesome trails Idaho has to offer?.

They did great for the parts we did with the group.
They tend to be messy and was getting hard to trim due to the height.

At 20.58. The white Jeep Jk, just before Ellis bridge broke a ring and pinion. That’s my buddy Ryan from Oregon. They got a ride back to Auburn Ca to buy a spare, got it all fixed up and had a great Jamboree(after the fix 😊)

Rivians on the Crown King trail, sure that ended well.
They looked to be doing okay, but they did expect and were okay with body damage.
@@dchstudios8053 dang, just my opinion but feel they are too heavy and not built for that. I suppose with all the bypasses, there is only a few spots where there is no choice
@@americafirst8218 yes, I would not do it with one, but they were. They had to pick the lines and struggled, but they were doing the obstacles. It had to be hard on the trucks.

What is firefall??
Firefall is a time when the sun sets at an angle that hits horsetail falls and if conditions are right, clear sunset with no clouds in the way, water flowing in the falls from snow that is melting with warmer temps, the falls will light up for about 15 minutes. This can happen for about two weeks around feb 22.

I love living in Arizona!
We were up in that area, coming down from CK in SXS's and it was rough going over the two rocks and the waterfall, where we just slid over the edge and down. We were there shortly after there was a lot of rain and it had washed out a lot of the riverbed in front of the waterfall. That was back in August and I was thinking that if we had tried to go UP to CK, some of the rigs never would make it due to ground clearance.
Why are you at the desert anyway?
We explore around the desert southwest looking for locations for landscape images.
Nice adventure I keep trying to get my lady to go 4x4 with me but she hate all the bumps
Enjoyed the video. I liked the obstacle count. I liked the honest replies by your wife. Me and my wife did that trail and had to work together to get through. We were pretty mentally drained by the time we got to Crown King.

Did you air down can't see why this trail is so difficult. I set my tires to 12lbs each I'm on 37" MTR's Rubicon I may use rear locker little and sliders in the sluice obstacle which is the only one I have issues with.
Yes, I did air down. I go to 15psi on 35” mt’s. I have done the trail 3 times now, and have fun each time.
This is a good starter trail, just pack a lunch it takes awhile but end up in cool Crown King and with a little searching you may find the creek to cool off at.

Besides the boulders were there any other hard areas?
I took all the bypasses except for one, just before the obstacle that you could not bypass. So not bad at all. Without the bypasses, it would have been hard with stock tires. I did have a 2.5 lift, but I did not have my 35’s at the time.
