Driver's eye view of the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway
1369 from the South devon railway is the loco,it is an 0-6-0 pannier tank with outside cylinders, in this video, you can see 'most' of what the driver sees when driving from Thame jcn to Chinnor. As you will be able to tell, 1369 is far from a smooth ride and rattles alot in the cab.

    I hope I am not the only person noticing this, but this recording, at least the sound of it has been used in Train Sim Classic, if you know it, they used this recording for the start-up sequence of the kuju model class 66, from the days of TS 2014 and before even that! Amazing how you can find it on YT.

      Where does this thinking come from "I like you, like me back." I never reciprocate upon request. However if you have something worth subscribing to...then you never know. Asking for likes/subscribes comes across as desperate to me. If you had something worthwhile, given the "obsessive sharing" nature of SOCIAL MEDIA, you'd never need to beg for likes/subs. Word of mouth would do it for you. Says it all if you have to beg. Oh well. It's a bit like those webshites that fire up a huge overlay begging for your email address so they can send you spam/newsletters. I just close the tab rather than interact with it. If you prompt or poke or pester me to do something you want, you kill all my interest forever. If your webshite had anything of value, chances are I'd sign up of my own choice. But try to force me to, and you can get to fuck.

    Please, somebody write a comment, how did it startup sequence. This is an auto sequence? The driver push the start button, and after what happens? Whai is the mechanism?Details please. I like this, but what happend? (Sorry my bad english)

    • @nounoufriend
      @nounoufriend 5 лет назад

      Yes auto sequence press start button (then can let go of button) warning horn sound then the starters come in crank till engine starts then disengage . If it fails to start starters disengage after preset time also if fuel rail pressure low it will run fuel pump till pressure ok . Some now have auto stop start system ie shuts engine down after idling for pre set time then restarts when loco put into forward or reverse . Also monitors batts and temp and will auto start if either are getting low

    As far as I know the Class 201's are identical to the Class 66's with the exception of the traction motor gearing, ie the 201's are slightly higher geared.Long Live EMD.

  • @Fcutdlady
    @Fcutdlady 11 лет назад

    prior to that we did have British built diesel locomotives the 001 class and the old 201 class . they were built by metropolitan vickers in Manchester and had crossley engines . the crossley engines were total rubbish . once re-engined with a GM engine their performance really improved . British locos were excellent on their own railway not so good here !

  • @Fcutdlady
    @Fcutdlady 11 лет назад

    it is American , as you probably well known, but this film clip is the closest i have ever come to hearing an Irish Rail 071 or 201 class loco starting up . ( the class 66 is probably more like a 201 then a 071) GM have kept Ireland in diesel locomotives since 1960 so they aren't too bad British or not .

    They move to a house in a very rural location which means that Post/Delivery drivers etc have to use a lot more petrol to deliver one Letter.Theyhave to drive everywhere usually in clapped out vans and Camper vans which produce more emissions than a the 4X4'S they protest against. They will go on about Organic Farming(Which takes up far more land than modern/intensive) which was going on in back gardens of the locals long before anyone even gave it a name. Is Hippy short for Hippocrate?

    every diesel loco can pull and push at least 50x weight of train compared to his own drive axle weight

  • @formidable38
    @formidable38 12 лет назад

    Our commuter trains can be upto 12 cars but they are not bi-level and are normally made up of electric or diesel multiple unit trains now. We no longer have 'locomtives' hauling commuter trains here like we used to.

  • @formidable38
    @formidable38 12 лет назад

    I agree with you but our freight trains are very small compared with you guys, pluss we dont have so much trackage on grades in comparison. You wont see anything over about 4 to 5000 tons here so theres no call for that kinda power. We just had some GE's of 3800hp (couple years back) but these are crap IMO, keep breaking down unless they worked out the problems since i last heard. It makes me laugh, a 30 car freight here would be considered a long train LOL.

  • @formidable38
    @formidable38 12 лет назад

    @GordonFreemanD40 Not quite same. The SD70 is 4300 horse power and uses the V16 710G. Its also a 200 ton loco, not 128 like a 66. Its also got alot more creature comforts unlike the 66, like being able to hold a conversation in the cab at run 8 unlike a 66 LOL.

  • @formidable38
    @formidable38 12 лет назад

    @DG6985 Why are people that happen to appreciate heavy engineering, big engines, locomtives etc sad??? I could say the same about people who play fuckin golf all day but i dont because its what they like. Each to their own.

  • @formidable38
    @formidable38 12 лет назад

    @jaggass Yes, V12, 710G. The "710" dessignation is EMD's system of labelling the cubic inches per cylinder, in this case 710 cubic inch. The class 59 uses the V16, 645e.

  • @jaggass
