      @@GreenlifeFin You know, I was so focused on the rounded corners that I didn’t even consider the “how to” related to clipping the photo🤪🤣 Sorry about that. Here’s the process: After drawing the rounded corner square, add a photo to the layer above the rounded square. Then, clip the photo layer to the shape as a clipping mask. Thank you, Liz. It's amazing. I can't get my head around 'how' it works - if the corner pieces remain in their original position but the central motif is 'flipped'...how does the design manage to alternate between the flipped motif and the original motif? x

    • @LizNess
      @LizNess 8 дней назад

      @@Sooz3112 In truth, you have 2 motifs. 😊the original motif is in segments at the corners of a “tile.” These segments fit together (with four “tiles” placed together) to form that original motif. Meanwhile, the center motif is really a second motif that can be flipped, recolored, or it could be a completely different illustration/shape. Sometimes, the easiest way to understand what is happening is physically. For example, recolor the center motif, print four tiles, then place the tiles together in a way to form a larger square 🤗🩷

    I've been drawing leaves from scratch recently but I love the idea of taking a photograph and importing it into Procreate! This video will help so much - as I've wanted to create a leaf design but I always had difficulty placing the elements in a natural way. Does it affect the quality of an image if we duplicate a duplicate? Someone on RUclips showed the slight deterioration of an image when duplicating but I don't know if it really makes any visible difference? Also, if I wanted to change the background colour - do I change the Procreate standard background colour or deselect it and just add a new layer above it with a colour on it? Apologies for all these questions x

    • @LizNess
      @LizNess 11 дней назад

      @@Sooz3112 PNG files are a great way to work with images, while JPGs are what is called “lossy” (they can degrade). But, there’s the whole printing process that sort of has its own impact. Sometimes, it’s a good idea to experiment (for quality and color assessments) and adjust to get the art “just right” for the specific application (e.g., texting to a friend, printing for crafts, printing for a giant frame/wall). Also, I sort of go back and forth between changing color on the background layer versus adding a layer above and making that my background. It’s kind of about how it impacts the work flow for me-and how my brain interacts with my workflow in a given moment😳🤣 But, it does seem that I usually go with the layer as background approach most often. I love your questions because they remind me of how I did and do engage with the app, too. It seems like we think about stuff in very similar ways and that’s awesome to meet a brain out there that’s similar to mine😂🤣🤗🩷

    That looks amazing! On one of your other videos - you flipped the centre piece so that it looked like the stems and flowers were blowing in the wind but the outside corner pieces (I think) remained in their original position - not flipped. I need to figure out 'why' it still works...It's like magic! Is it because it's technically repeating two different elements each time (the 'flipped' centre piece and the corners) to give variation on the design...rather than it being the centre piece and the corners all being in the same orientation? x

    • @LizNess
      @LizNess 11 дней назад

      @@Sooz3112 I had that same feeling-that they were blowing in the wind. And, I really like your comment/thinking. Sometimes, it seems these are “happy accidents” (as one of my art instructors called it🤣). But, I believe the illusion sort of worked because of the curve in the stems (a total accident). So, when the motif was flipped it suggested a familiar scene (wind blowing through grass/flowers/etc.). Also, positioning did play a part…I kind of thought about balancing the space between motifs and just sort of played around. Honestly, a lot of creative adventures seem to involve play for me-same with music.🤗🩷

      Thank you for asking. I used to have an email list, but stopped. So, the best place (at least for now😉) to get in touch is either here on RUclips or via my Etsy shop. Thanks for your support 🤗🩷

    I cant find the subscribe as I went to the essentials and there is no "texture" category for brushes. I Dl'd the starts, essentials and shapes but they dont seem to match up with what you are doing in this vid. please help

    • @LizNess
      @LizNess 5 месяцев назад

      Oops--sorry about that. You no longer need to subscribe to get the set--they are free 😊 Also, the brush set was updated and the diagonal textures are under the Essentials "Main Set" now. When you download the main set, it will show up in your brush inventory as ⁂ Essentials For '22. Enjoy! 🤗❤
