John Scarfe, one of Western Australia's top turners teaches Harry Sinclair how to turn Tulips.
great project.... slow down dude. Some of us are learning.
Bravo très belle fleur merci pour le partage
It’s so easy with the right gear isnt it? Now trying to make the same thing on a EMCO UNIMAT 3 lathe! Drilling a 25mm hole is a real hoot trust me.
Shouldn't your apprentice be wearing a facemask too?

Ciao Herry Ritengo che il tuo sistema per fare tulipani sia migliore del mio comunque complimenti. Comunque quest' anno per la cena di Natale ad ogni signora della tavolata ho regalato un tulipano di legno. E' stato un successo
really nice work man! i bet if you used colored stain on those it would be very nice too! thankx beau
Really like these! The petals are the thinnest of any I've seen except for using shavings.
Great presentation. Thanks for the really easy to understand demo, I now know where I've been going wrong.

What is the name of that spinning sanding device that you use to finish sand the flower? I love it and have never seen it before.

Great demo, but tulips have six petals/sepals.
Great video, I made my first one yesterday and it turned out great! Plan on making a dozen or so for my wife, thank you for the video!
A tulip has six petals. :)
Not this one. LOL
Great project !!!!
The deep sanding tool is from VERMEC in Queensland, Australia. For some strange reason it isn't shown on their website but it can be ordered from them. The rotary sander IS shown on their website. Neither John nor I can remember what the wood was. Since that lesson I've made lots of Tulips, kept some and given the rest as presents. Since the video I have ground the end of a 1" spade bit which gives a nice round bottom to the Tulips.. www.vermec.com/vermec-sanding-handle--accessories.html
John mentioned the smell of camphor laurel during the video - was that the wood

If you pin this comment, more of your viewers will see it.
I've been buying all kinds of things getting to where I can make these with ease and I am almost there, the only thing I'm missing is the velcro thing you have for sanding inside, what do I look for to make one of those.
Thank you Harry enjoyed it very much
Very good video, thanks
Gorgeous creation. What's the model of this sander? I really enjoyed the work that it does.

Thank you for the video and the idea.
Great video! Can't wait to try this
I like. thank you.
Nice video. I use a piece of a noodle (things used in a swimming pool) as a backer for the sandpaper. It works very well because it wraps right around the blank.
Congratulaion Guys Nice presentation, well Done.
Well made video, Harry
