Thank you for making it way easier to cut out decals but I have a question when cutting out decals for imsa vs gt3. The number box is slightly smaller for gt3 series and it doesnt have same smaller sponsor logos so theres some extra un-metallic space if I have chrome (100%Rbase,0%Gbase/BBase). Is there a way to have it for both series decals?

Good video! but when i loaded into a session my logos on the car were translucent. did i do smth wrong and is there a fix?
How does one select which parts of the car you want to be different spec maps?
How do you leave a Sim Stamped Number at its original values? It keeps turning Metallic along with the rest of the paint scheme.
You can't. Kinda stinks but the only way you can customize the alpha on a number is to make it a custom number paint.

Man, this is by far the best video out there about spec maps. I was used to just paste the color from Preview tool in the red channel, and I was never fully satisfied with my paintings. Now thanks to you, I finally understood the concept and the correct way to apply this on GIMP. I also did not know about the alpha to selection command, that is a time saver. I used to duplicate the decals one by one and then colorize or color mapping them, but the result sometimes was not that good. Short video with great explanation and good examples, thank you very much, good sir.
My layer structure looks the same as yours but my car is just metalic orange (the orange which is the result of the spec map). I want it to be grey metalic. Right where you have your "pasted Layer" I put a layer which is just grey. So how did you manage to get the blue on the car eventhough the "spec-map-orange" is higher up in the layerstructure?
Are you saving the spec map as the base paint layer? There are two different files to save. The grey should be your base paint, then the orange should be the spec. The combination of the two is what makes the car appear in iRacing. Thanks for this video, i found it super helpful but 1 thing im lost on, when you make your sticker channel alpha and go to delete in spec map?, how exactly are you deleting them as thats not explained
Once they are selected from the alpha, you can just press the Delete key. This will remove whatever is in the selection on the current layer.

Thank you for this video. Had recently changed over from an old version of Photoshop to GIMP. Didn't take long to get the paint job sorted but was having no luck with spec maps. I looked at several videos before I came across yours. Simple, and well explained, I was up and running straight away. I have found GIMP produces a much cleaner job than my old version of Photshop.
where do i save the file to once i do the spec map?
Same location as the paint TGA. In the car folder within the paints

How do I delete the stickers in the red and green base after selecting alpha to selection
Click on the layer you want to delete from and press the Delete key
thanks for sharing. i can make a spec map now! but have an issue im hoping you can help with. when you click the sticker layer and add alpha channel, i don't understand what you are doing to the red/green layers. i just see you clicking on the red/green layers but are you using a key shortcut to apply it? hope it makes sense
Hey! I'm just deleting the color from active layer because I don't want to apply the metallic on the sticker. So it's select alpha, then delete.
hey i was wondering i use the arca template and it doesnt have a bluechannel in the spec map section so how do i make one?
Yeah you can make one just by adding another layer group with a blue multiplier and black base layer. Then you can make those cars super shiny!
