In July 2023 a group of four of us headed out for a weekend trip on the Skoki Loop.
Day 1: Trailhead to Baker Lake
Day 2: Baker Lake to Merlin Meadows, with some extra exploring
Day 3: Merlin Meadows to Trailhead
Our first two days were plagued with a lot of forest fire smoke. On the evening of the second day a huge dump of rain came through, which ended up clearing the skies a bit! The views were absolutely breathtaking. I definitely want to go back and experience this area again with less smoke and during larch season.

Mount Yamnuska Scramble and Chains

July 30, 2023 - I hiked Yamnuska for the first time and was able to get some footage of the experience! You'll also see my recording of the scramble sections. This is now one of my favourite hikes and I can't wait to get back there next summer!

Tent Ridge Horseshoe, Kananaskis, Alberta One of the most amazing hikes in Kananaskis. Easily in my top 5! This hike has a beautiful forest approach, scrambling, and tons of glorious ridge walking. I tried to show the scrambling sections as best I could. Approx. 10km, 800m elevation
Elizabeth Parker Hut

This is a short video to show you what it is like at Elizabeth Parker Hut! The main building has room to sleep 16 people, while the side cabin has room for 8. There are two bathrooms in the outhouse building. The kitchen has propane for cooking and lights. There is even an oven! Elizabeth Parker Hut bookings can be done through the Alpine Club of Canada.

On June 24, 2023, we hiked to Rawson Lake and Sarrail Ridge. The trail is well defined and very easy to follow. The hike to Rawson Lake was easy to moderate. Once you proceed to the back side of Rawson and start the steep decent to Sarrail Ridge, the trail becomes difficult. This is one of the best hikes in Kananaskis! 10/10

In January 2023, we had the awesome experience of a private snowshoe tour at Fortress Mountain! Escorted to the top of our adventure in a snowcat, and finishing the day off with hot chocolate and cookies. Highly recommend! On September 23, 2023, we hiked to Eiffel Lake in Banff National Park. The trail begins at Moraine Lake, so we had booked the Parks Canada Shuttle in advance to ensure we wouldn't be stressed about finding parking. The trail was beautiful with the larches in all of their golden glory. 10/10 will be hiking this trail again one day!

I received the GoPro Hero 11 for Christmas and have been anxiously wanting to get out and try it! I headed out for a solo hike on Saturday morning up to the Barrier Fire Lookout (Yates Mountain). Filmed in 4K... still have a lot to learn and can't wait to get out and play with it again.

Harrison and I went for a one night adventure at Lake O'Hara in August of 2022! We drove out from Calgary early in the morning and arrived to take the 10:30 am bus up to the lake. We set up our campsite, had a quick lunch, and then went out to explore!

We also stayed at the campground - but the soft-sided section, as we are tent campers. :)

Hey how long did it take you to snowshoe in/out?
Took me 3 hrs but so worth it
It was about 3 hours, but conditions were not ideal with soft snow and post holing..
Please be alert and safe of bears. Beautiful scenery

I did not get a spot on the shuttle bus to lake o hara, I wanted to do this hike ! Am I crazy to be able to do the 22km hike back and forth from the lake + the alpine circuit in one day 🥴
Not crazy at all! That was our plan too and we got lucky and took the Parks Canada bus out. If they have room on the bus they will take you out, but you have to pay $10 in CASH and be ready at the bus stop when the bus comes. They will not wait! Good luck and let me know how it goes.

It was hard because we had to walk 11km and 400m elevation on the road just to get to the trailhead... so you do a 2 hour workout before you even start the hike!! But I would most definitely do it again. 🙂🙂

Quit taking the bus brah...I walk up and down the fire road with camping gear. Then go hike the alpine circuit on teh same day.

Awesome video, just a couple questions. Did you guys have vehicles parked at the Ha ling trail head and at the fairmont hotel in Banff? That seems to be the most logistical way of doing it. Also will some avid skiers do this trail in an entire day as an out back if they just had one vehicle? Thanks in advance 🙂
Hey! Yes, we parked a vehicle at the Goat Creek Parking lot and then the second vehicle at the other end behind Banff Springs Hotel. You definitely could do it as an out and back, but you might like to start on the Banff end instead so you can do the elevation gain in the first half of your ski towards the Goat Creek Parking and then have the elevation loss on the way back to Banff.
