Jamie Neville-Young from Dealing in Design in Melbourne recently restored a desk made by Australian furniture making icon Shulim Krimper. "This project was a significant investment of time, love, and passion", he said. "The most challenging part was the extensive dismantling and rebuilding required. Krimper’s design included lots of concealed screws under mouldings. Krimper also glued mouldings...

In 2020, in the midst of lockdowns and Covid-19 restrictions, Melbourne furniture maker Alastair Boell undertook what he now regards as the job of a lifetime. On December 27, 2019, a much loved 150 year old oak tree at the Melbourne Royal Botanical Gardens Victoria (RBGV) collapsed. The White Oak Project that ensued was the brainchild of RBGV Landscape Architect, Andrew Laidlaw, who then collab...

I have to respectfully disagree. The trouble with using tracking is the guides need re-adjusting. It’s best to set the tracking, set the guides and leave it alone. We all know tracking can change over time. Then set the fence or table. There is no reason to leave the fence set.
Dont buy from laguna they will send you defective products

Nice.
Good day Rob. I loved and hated your show Utopia. Best wishes. Hare & Forbes are a good company with excellent service. That's why I shop there.
Just simply gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing that!

Beautiful, thanks for sharing that!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sensacional!😄🎉🌟
I had never heard of "bespoke" until I became a wood worker. It seemed to be a general term for one off very expensive items solely for the wealthy. Something commissioned as a personal piece for a very select client. But I think you have shown there are levels of bespoke. These items are incredible. Magnitudes above anything I could produce. I think your judges would look with amusement, anything knocked up in my little shed.
Hi CJ, David is truly one-of-kind and one of the most down-to-earth people you could meet. He appreciates and takes delight in what other people make. Just about everyone starts off in a shed, and many of us prefer to stay there! Thanks for commenting. Cheers, Linda
There is definitely 1,000% no one in the audience, it’s kind of weird
No mention of lower drive wheel alignment. It too can cause drift.
Thank you! Wonderful video- it answers so many of my questions.
This is art worthy of the MOMA!! I call it "competence porn" -- a master of the craft doing something so well and producing such a lovely object that I feel privileged to have seen it done.
Love it is it possible to get the plans
سلام .بسیار زیبا بود فقط اره ،کاملا شل بسته شده بود و تاب می خورد ...این درست نیست
I put a square on the table and against the back of the blade. If the blade is 90 degrees to the table, then it’s in the right place on the wheel rim. I found the back-of-the-gullets-on-the-rim-crown doesn’t work for the wider re-saw blades.
1" wide bade, maybe more, and a frickin quarter inch board. You're delusional, you silly boomer.
Don't forget to check that the two wheels are coplanar when you first get your band saw. This is easy before the table is mounted and adjusted. The wheels on my bandsaw were out of plane with each other and had to be realigned. Doing this will make the "drift" problem easier to correct. I used the instructions from Michael Fortune to set my band saw up. Works perfectly with no further adjustments since. I do check for drift each time I change blades. So far, none.
Lovely stuff

Happy new year mr 02/01/2024
Thank you Steve, what a great help especially when it is very expensive to get the exotic wood and you have made it affordable to everyone, thank you. A well known guitar company in their old days they have used Higgins Ink to uniformly stain the ebony fretboards, hope this is helpful to everyone. Thank you. Merry Christmas and happy new year Steve and everyone. ☕️ 🫖 🎄🎉🎄🎉🎄🎉
I've tried this for 4 weeks!!!! Its not working!
thanks but wax melter is better than double boiler
Used it for 60 years --made it myself in a factory with limed de haired cowhides =mass produced ---only problem its NOT WATERPROOF --hence its not used much ----but its very strong --in dry climates!
Looking for reviews and wasn't disappointed here, that's definitely an ozzie accent!
This is clever and I'd think simpler than the Maloof joint but I don't see how it could be stronger. The comparable Maloof joint is keyed on 3 sides, as opposed to these 2 keys, with more glue area than this joint. I think that both this new joint and the Maloof joint are good designs useful on many applications. The Maloof joint has glued surfaces on more planes perpendicular to each other and thus adds to the overall joint strength. I do like your design and your video.
You are right, however, the difference in strength is much greater than you imagine, in favor of the Maloof joint. The Maloof joint isn't just keyed in more directions, it is a sort of bridal 3d joint where both stresses and strains are distributed over a larger volume. It would be interesting to do a 3d finite elements analysis of the Maloof joint. To my knowledge, nobody has done that yet.
I thought the easiest way was to adjust table to fence and blade!
All I can say is...freaking WOW!! 😲😃🥰
This little band saw has turned out to be the best tool purchase I've ever made ruclips.net/user/postUgkx5ZrqmYO2uJq_nuU8TopyWxVzn8vqmPUL Once doing the set-up as per the included suggestions, this table top tool has been my go-to saw ever since (8 months as of this review). There are few things I wouldn't attempt with this saw. It takes up much less space than my table saw yet delivers twice as much punch. I've used it to create slices of wood no thicker than an 1/16th of inch by using the POWERTEC BS900RF Rip Fence. For small shop projects this tool can't be beat.
Playing around with this at the moment Steve - so was a great to find this old video of yours.
I see that you have a nice scroll saw in your shop. Why don't you use it rather than the fret saw? I'm just curious as I learned to do this using a scroll saw.
Amazing
Can you purchase this pattern for the horse. Not resale.
Diablo blades aren't made by Bosch!!!!!!!! Freud is an Italian company. not German.
I enjoyed your video where you changed blades every 10 cuts and changed the battery every 20 cuts. Sanding every cut was needed I know. Setting the nails to 2mm is also cute. Slow motion brings it all to perfection. I especially enjoy looking at the bodies of crickets under a microscope.
Thank you very much Ian. I've tried your "recipe" and it does work well. Just one thing, I've made a die for a 16mm rod and my router tends to burn it. Maybe the bit is a bit cheap, or maybe I didn't let the rod in the linseed oil long enough, but do you recommend a special speed for the router to do this job? Thanks again. Aldo, from France
Would be interested to know what you think about the “Little Ripper” video, that basically the main thing that causes the cut not to be straight , is that when you cut close to the fence, the tension released during the cut often makes the cut open up, which pushes against the fence to make it not cut straight. That didn’t come out as clear cut as I hoped . Bloody beer strikes again. He released the blade tension and made a cut, still perfect.
You can also just leave the lid off the vinegar/steel wool jar
So . . . . . . . . . . . . . its not a myth?
Used one, hated it. Over priced, inaccurate. Bed castings were not flat or co planar. Save your money.
Bought one, love it! Yes, expensive but accurate, flat, and coplanar. Would spend the money again!
Greta review, is the laser beam shooting far on the right side, does that need an adjustment or that is how it should be straight out of the factory?
